Sometimes I pray a personal prayer that includes people I specifically know by name. We all know his will is for all men to be saved and I usually include that. But sometimes I catch myself praying in my thoughts will trail off and ramble every thought in my head or I feel like I’m just awkward in prayer. So when I found the way Jesus said to pray there was a verse in the context that really connected something and this is the verse I’m talking about. Mat 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After seeing this, knowing the Lord knows what I need before I even ask. So when Jesus says pray this way, it’s having faith in the scriptures that tell me that God already knows what we need before we ask that takes that awkward part that can happen when we pray. It also eliminates the tendency to ask for things outside of His Will. Also, when you look at the contents of the prayer, one of my favorite parts is when it says let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Because at the end of the day that’s really what I want. I just want whatever he wants bc I know it’s better than my wants. It’s a way to pray into also show faith in the Word Because just like Pastor Justin here is saying people feel like they need to put in Jesus name at the end of the prayer. People also feel like if they don’t say everything on their head then God won’t know that they need it. But the scripture said that’s not true he already knows so just having faith in the scripture that tells us he already knows eliminates all of that. So you could just pray this simple but very powerful prayer that Jesus told us to pray. However there’s days I just pray but it’s more like a conversation instead of requests and I think that’s ok too. But I do find myself doing the prayer that Jesus says to do because I really do have faith in the scriptures that tell me he already knows so just repeating that prayer is showing you have faith in that you long to pray for things that are in God’s will. I’m a dispensationalist but some of my favorite teachers have actually said that that prayer is not for us to pray and then ask for the Jews. I actually don’t agree with that because I still think the prayer is relevant and perfect. I love your teachings Pastor Justin! Thank you for your time and commitment that you give to teach the truth. And I’m glad that you don’t get paid for what you do because I wouldn’t take money either. I’ve never felt right about that. Some of My favorite teachers online still kind of put that out there about how to give them donations for their ministry. For me that always is the automatic -5 points in my opinion because I just don’t think you could ever put a price on the truth. It’s not truth you obtained yourself, it was truth given to us by God. People can only profit spiritually, especially when the Bible says money is the root of all evil. Then why would anybody ever be cool with even putting it out there were people can send donations to them. I just can’t identify with that. Anyways, Thank you for being a great example.
Just a question on prayer. Why is it that people will talk about prayer and agree it is important but are unwilling to take the time out of their lives to pray with each other. I mean if prayer is as important as I think it is and people would meet together on a daily basis to read the Word and pray, wouldn't there be a whole bunch more of God's activity in us? We can have all the great rightly divided doctrine in the world and it is not going to mean a hill of beans unless we are putting God first and this not in word but in deed. I really believe this is God's plea for our lives...Think about it? Does it not make more sense to put ourselves in God's hands to do in us and our communities what it is we can't do? God help us see how it is you would want us to be in You and to prioritize exactly what it is You would have us...Amen
Justin good job in answering a question I actually had after one of your post you helped me see what I was very suspicious of that once we are sealed with the Spirit Of promise the father recognizes the spirit of truth whom is Jesus in us ! n he was full grace n truth ! plus he lives in you the hope of glory. how can god not know his own by spirit or name? He just does !he never learns ,god in general never learns unless of course ,you momentarily take on human form like baby Jesus and submit even unto death to the human experience including human limitations limited brain power ,mood swings ,body odor ,bad breath ,death on a cross even then .god father son Holy Spirit know it the whole plan there’s never a moment that that father son n Holy Spirit doesn’t recognize his own even though he may be quite at times he always here’s if we pray according to his will like Paul to know the depth n with ,height n breath ,of his love for us in Christ to be rooted n grounded in love to help all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery understanding what god’s will is n coming to a knowledge of that truth communicating effectually among unbelievers with the bond of love a charity among brethren !to be content peaceful n joyful in the Holy Spirit and to know the unsearchable riches of Christ giving me understanding in all things !!!! You taught me well justin
To know the what is the manifold wisdom of god among the gentiles !to remember the poor like Jesus to make his glory be known throughout, to work out what he has worked in in me,to increase the fruit of the spirits effect in our lives to make all types of prayers and supplications with thanks giving in your heart to service
