    For anyone who has a Cort X-11 like I do.
    DON'T SCRAP IT YET!
    The emg-hz imo are great. Putting them close however reallly makes the tone muddy. I put them way far away from the strings. Adjust the height till you're satisfied. Surprisingly, i got more tone like this.
    Next, the tremolo, file down the teeth (the curves where the bridge rest on the nuts). Make it sharper. Sharper=more ease of movement. And lubricate the contact point. Also, make sure the bridge is levelled. I got much much better stability and the guitar is able to survive several dive bombs. Note: make sure the springs inside are evenly distributed and they are stretched to some extent. The stressed springs does a better job of keeping things tuned.
    This is after 2 yrs from the published date of this video but I hope it help you.

      Got a Wah and locked my tremelo with rubber spacers from an old skateboard truck. No more tuning every 20mins
      The coil tap really helps clear up the muddy tone
      Have loved playing the X11 for the past 15 years

    Does the Cort X300 EMG retroactive hot 70 pickup require a 9V battery to power any pre-amp? I liked all feature of the X300, just a little hesitant to buy a guitar with active pickups because of the battery replacements.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pickups aren't really active in themselves but they do have an active preamp attached to them in the electronics which helps them be very quiet and hum eliminating, so yes there is a battery involved. As long as you don't leave your guitar plugged in the 9v battery has quite a long life.

    Great review! I have a Cort X11 too and I agree with you about the tuning stability and the EMGs are just boring, however in my experience with this guitar, the root cause of the tuning issues when you use (or abuse) the tremolo is the softness or weakness of the stock springs. Those springs just cant hold the system under balance. For me, a simple solution was just replace them with proper ones. I used a set of original FR springs as replacement and they work great! Now I can do dive bombs for a while and then play a sweet open G chord without issues. After this change, it is a nice guitar but to be happier I need to replace the stock PUPs for Dimarzios for instance, passive EMGs are not for me.

    Compare to x300. Which is better? I mean from the pickup, the tunning after u use tremolo. The sound. I hope someone can answer my questions. Because the price for x11 and x300 not much difference.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Firstly, the X-11 has been discontinued by Cort in a shake-up of their line of guitars. The X300 is one of the new guitars offered in the new line up. The pickups are still EMG but they are different than what was found on the X-11. Unfortunately, I have not played them so can't really give you any comment on how they sound. The bridge on the X-11 was a Cort branded locking trem where the newer X300 has an actual FloydRose. It is a FloydRose Special trem so instability can still be a problem and will need to be set up properly to get the most out of it.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@zulhusnijoni7211 I haven't played the new JS range but here is what I know about Jackson. At this price range, Jackson can be hit and miss, sometimes they are good, and sometimes they are bad. Quality control hasn't been where it should be. The JS32 DKA also has a licensed Floyd Rose bridge. Now, history has shown us that the licensed Floyds are the cheapest and worst quality Floyds on the market. Hard to keep in tune and sometimes useless.

    • @zulhusnijoni7211
      @zulhusnijoni7211 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WombatPage so x300 has better floyd rose? How to know that guitar use an actual floyd rose? What brand? I have budget for x300 and js32 DKA.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zulhusnijoni7211 Yes, the X300 has a better Floyd Rose and aftermarket pickups by EMG. If you check the manufacturers website on the guitars you are looking at it usually tells you what the parts are. The Floyd on the Jackson says Jackson on it, which is a dead giveaway that it's not a Floyd. The website also lists that it is a Licensed Floyd Rose which means it is made by a cheaper company under license and not by Floyd themselves.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I would never recommend any guitar with a Floyd Rose bridge for a beginner. It just complicates everything. If you like the look of this guitar then you would be better off with something like the Cort X100 or the older model X-1 if you can find them.

      To be clear, I don't own a Pacifica 112v nor do I own this X-11. You can not compare those two instruments, it would be unfair. The Pacifica is an entry-level guitar aimed at the beginner market and the X-11 is a high-end guitar aimed at the experienced or touring player.

      I think the X300 is the best of the guitars you mentioned. Both the X300 and X-11 are better guitars than the Ibanez Gio 270 but the X300 wins over the X-11 because of the pickups and slightly better bridge.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@navinsubba7169 The GIO370 hasn't been made since 2005, the Jackson is good but not the same standard as the X300. The LTD series guitars are well built and great playing guitars (I own an LTD EC-300) but they are all at the lower end of the range of guitars. The X300 is up near the top end of Cort premium guitars and all in all are better appointed than all of these guitars.
