    How could a You Tuber make me angry.😂
    I'm actually not angry with Gaming Companies, I am very Confused at their desire to waist money and destroy their reputations for an agenda. 🤔I have no problem with "diversity" it's the FORCED MESSAGE of False Diversity that I am done with. 🙄
    These Companies have Forgotten Whom the Customer is, I guess it's time to Remind Them.
    Go Woke, Go Broke!

    Gaming companies have gotten away from what makes successful companies. Give their consumers what they want.
    Business isn’t rocket science. Make a product people want, and has more perceived value than what is being paid for, and they buy. Gaming over the past few years, this seems to have been forgotten.

    The answer is that the game is selling poorly, so the silent majority is not interested in buying the game.
    A bigger problem I would say is that Veilguard is simply not a good game. The combat is not interesting, the storywriting is poor compared to say, Mass Effect (the original 3), the companions are not relatable, and the atmosphere does not feel like Dragon Age.

    There is no doubt that gamers are angry, but I it's a lot less about politics and much more about design. People are still angry about loot boxes and design choices and that's why some companies have moved away from them in recent years, especially once some countries started active investigations. Who would've thought that Nexon, one of the earliest pushers of loot boxes, would start to course correct and remove them from their games? Yet, here we are in 2024 where this is something that's starting to happen. And as a result, people are no longer pushing as hard, but will if they show up again. It's also why we see many new mobile games start failing faster than ever. Now, people are clamping down on bad character and game designs harder than ever and that's something developers need to realize.
    One of the biggest issues that I see people not talk much about is the fact that the people behind the IPs that made them successful are gone. So when these properties are handed to others, the game is no longer the same. You're never going to get a game like the old Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age, or Mass Effect from Bioware because the people who made those games are gone. Square Enix has had failures with long running titles like Final Fantasy and Star Ocean because the people who ran them has changed and no longer court the old audience.
    There are situations in which an IP can be successfully handed over to another. But, it means handling the existing IP with respect, something that seems to be lost on most of these people. Instead, they're pushing for radical change to "make it their own" or "leave their mark". This is rarely going to work because it's courting people who aren't fans of your franchise and alienating existing fans. Takayuki Kusano did a good job after Toshihiro Kondo with the Trails of Cold Steel series, but ultimately dropped the ball with the Trails Through Daybreak games because of how much they were changed to try to force the hybrid style.

    Racist here. My feelings on DEI games have nothing to do with how I feel about different races. I would never enter a different culture and force that culture's stories to have white people in them to "represent" my existence. I would never enter another culture and demand that their forms of entertainment represent me or my people.
    Games like Veilguard and shows like Rings of Power take settings that are clearly inspired by medieval Europe, which had a predominantly white population, and inject DEI into them and then say, "Well, it's fantasy, we can imagine anything we want."
    Well, imagine how Africans or African Americans would feel if we took a setting that is clearly inspired by Africa and injected white people into it with the same justification.

      @14rick88 I share this sentiment. If I play a game that features 19th Century African tribal war, I don't want the Zulu tribe to have 1 White Guy, 1 Hispanic Lesbian, 1 East Indian Trans, 1 Chinese Chick, and 1 Native American Gay as my Zulu tribe's vanguard force.

    • @LurnWell
      @LurnWell หลายเดือนก่อน

      "If"? Do you mean like "Jesus"? White Europeans are already injected into everything. It's just normalized. And here's a news flash...Africans weren't just in Africa, and many fairytails have more of an origin there than you think.
      You're pathetic. Racists are pathetic because they have nothing better to do than blame races for their problems.
      I get it....Every race doesn't have to be placed into every license. It's unnecessary to me, but it's not about me or you. These companies have all types of viewers, and you probably wouldn't even see many of the shows you like if they felt "only you" were going to watch them.
      They are thinking about the future, not your personal race preference.

    So wait the idea is that Game directors, put their own identity and ideas in the game ? So let say I am a diehard vegan and I am working as game director on let say Assasin Creed Valhalla, the Vikings, and English folk of medieval Brittan only eat plants. There is no livestock or hunting. And in fact every historical record of humans eating meat in medieval Europe is erased.
    That is the logic this guy presents.

    A lot of these aspects that are considered woke have become a red flag.
    So, even if a new game comes out with similiar aspects but is not woke, or bearable at least, the aspects are stained.
    Take for instance that Furiosa movie from a while back. It didn't do very good because it contained stereotypically woke aspects, even though a lot of people said it's not woke.
    Like Star Wars, I think even if all this crap is over, all of this will probably need a rest in order for the temperature to climatise. But I won't really keep my hopes up, personally.

      @ohnosmoarlulcatz หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel gamers tend to be fairly straightforward about their wants and needs. If you genuinely ask, they'll talk about things they don't like and you can track how frequent this is to make use of the data. That's what Hello Games did for No Man's Sky and what Mihoyo has done with Genshin Impact as well. Nexon is trying to do with The First Descendant (though to significantly less success at the moment). The problem is that the marketing team or other higher ups have a habit of overwriting this feedback and they instead choose to focus on what they think will succeed while ignoring this feedback. This usually just boils down to chasing trends that are two years old and it becomes five years old by the time they get their own competitor out followed by aggressive monetization to recoup costs as quickly as possible without concerns for the long term health of the game.

      @GingerPrimeGaming  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it's more an issue of forcing that into a place where it doesn't feel authentic, there has always been diverse characters in games, but they were also good characters. What we're more seeing is that they're making characters have a "key characteristic" that they are a diverse character. So it's tokenism and pandering and then writing bad characters that is what people are upset about.

    • @craybest
      @craybest หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ then why isn’t the critique about bad writing? Why is it about the race or gender or sexuality of the characters? That isn’t the issue at all.
      Also you can’t pretend there is a huge amount of people who actually get bothered when there are diverse characters. Even written well. Many things that had diverse characters from years ago would be considered “woke” now and be criticized for it.
      You shouldn’t need to justify a black character in a video game. It’s fantasy.
      Many hide their actual racism and homophobia behind “it doesn’t make sense for the setting to have them” but it’s clear as day for those of us who have been on the other end of the issue for years.

    GP, you want a better argument? A really big problem the anti-woke side has is the failure to admit that representation is an important factor to consider. There's nothing wrong with a Hispanic wanting to craft a Hispanic avatar. Or a woman wanting to play as a female. But the flipside is also true, there is nothing wrong with a young white man wanting to play as a white man. Using only 2 voice actors we had a ton of representation for Shepard in Mass Effect. And I applaud diverse representation when it makes sense. What I don't like is every male in virtually every AAA game being a nincompoop. I don't like having a one armed women protaganist in a WWII FPS outsoldiering men. Go watch Guns of Navorone -- the ladies in that flick are badass but believable.
