I was having the same problem with a sprinter that I purchased last night. The door was impossible to open but once I opened it I got a q-tip and sprayed it with spray silicone WD-40 on a q-tip and lubricated the track and the locking joints where the door slides into and locks in place. It made it a lot easier after that to open the door

I really need to look for that Matchbox Sprinter. It looks amazing and it will look very nice along the green Hot Wheels Sprinter.
Matchbox sprinter is pretty nice. The side door could break off fairly easy.
