TBH the rally seemed more like Marwan trying to feel out Elias at the beginning of their match than an example of good attacking... there were so many nonchalant backhand volleys that could have been hit with more venom aiming for the nick that Marwan was content to hit "safe" into open space instead (almost 5 consecutive ones between 3:02 and 3:14)
Fair perspective. The top players are always looking to apply pressure when the opportunity presents itself, and since Diego was retrieving so effectively, Marwan did well to not let that get to him and in response try making his attacks finer and finer (ie. The pressure from a good retriever). Marwan kept applying the pressure with squeezing / forcing opportunities, aiming to work Diego progressively further and further out of position. Impressive stuff from both players! All the best, - Ahad
Marwan hit some pretty high quality attacks. Diego's defense was solid which allowed him to buy time and reposition himself for the next shot. Very impressive stuff by both of them! - Ahad
Funny how I think the terminology “attacking” sounds not quite right but I do like the work “putting pressure” being more appropriate…I know it’s semantics…
Putting pressure is a great way to think about it 👍🏼 different styles of play / players take different approaches, but arguably the most consistent approach is to build "progressive pressure" and work out opponents further and further out of position before being able to play a winner. Marwan was doing that effectively in this rally until Diego seized his opportunity. Impressive stuff! - Ahad
great breakdown! man elias is the master of the mid length squeeze drop
That's his bread and butter, low risk, high percentage, repeatable squash. Nice to see! 💪🏼

Elias's retrievals were exceptional in that rally. I guess it's between him and Asal for the top unless Farag and Coll can get their acts together.
Elias is reading the game so well at the moment. Hopefully Mohamed, Farag and Coll come out strong again. Makes the game entertaining for everyone!
Great analysis...will try to apply this. Fitness needs a bit of work first :)
Haha, don't we all need to get fitter! Keep at it :)

If Marwans attack was effective or the pressure he put on display he would have won the rally. He shot at the wrong time but that's what I see.

@@ARProformance The thing is Marwan didn't respect his opentes speed.
