The spots I know in the Chesapeake Bay have too much current for a 1/16th oz jigs. I've seen people using 2 oz and more just to try to keep the bait near the pilings. I tried with 1/2 oz and no luck. Here people use the jigs made for tautog for sheepshead. When I caught them growing up in Florida it was on shrimp or sand fleas, I've had no luck with crabs. Maybe I'll try harder this year for sheepshead.
