Well this actually makes sense. His opponent raised money and his car and Bond called him. Bond called his bluff so his opponents cards must be shown first.

Yes, good touch. And this is one of my favorite 007 films, but I've always thought it was inappropriate. The legendary Aston Martin DB5 - *a* custom James Bond car - was obtained that way? From a (little) villain? So if James Bond already knew what car it was in Goldfinger, why did Q (properly) say that in Goldfinger? It makes no sense. Furthermore, up until Casino Royale, each actor in the franchise had his own car. It should have remained that way.

It's because older movies and Casino Royale was recorded on film, which gives deeper tonality, grain and soft look. I'm glad that big directors still use 35 mm.

Scenes like this are why Casino Royale is the greatest Bond movie of all time. Daniel Craig just exudes class and sophistication throughout the film in the way he interacts with everyone around him. No other Bond film comes close to this one, in my personal opinion. Casino Royale isn’t just a brilliant Bond film, it’s a master piece in film in general.

The contrast and the coolers in this film created exactly the classic bond vibe where later Craig’s bond loses as spins off into its own. This vibe together with the excellent casting, plot and action scenes set this movie apart from all the Craig’s bond truly is one of the best.
When Bond is doing the selling, he’s giving an unblinking stare. When she is sold on the idea, she stops blinking.
Him just speeding around the circle drive and parking right back where he just left gets me every time

what an amazing scene. This film did everything perfect, the team understood bond fully which is why its number one, and script wise its untouchable. what a way to introduce the DB5 by making bond win it in a game of poker, in which he cleans out the bad guy AND then takes his girl. Fucking brilliant.

In one hand which was the strangest hand I've been involved in since I started playing; I had Pocket Kings and there was an Ace on the flop. All of us check around. on the Turn someone put a big bet in, and I was not sure if he was trying to stab the pot, but he was representing the Ace. So I call and so did everyone else. River comes and we all check around.
Turns out one guy had Pocket 10s, another Pocket Jacks, another Pocket Queens, and when it came to me I just said "uhhh... I got kings".
We all laughed and we all agreed that the Ace scared us all. I was surprised NO ONE had an ace in that hand.

The beautiful woman arriving at the table is probably what caused Bond to later get the idea for Vesper to dress well and attract everyone's attention at the poker table in the Casino Royale. He was aware of the effect the woman had on him and how it could be used to distract another poker player.

The simple fact that he was distracted by the stunning beauty of the female character while playing poker, made him use the same tactic later in the film with Eva Green character. Cause he knew how men of his statue would act. Smart in general, great writing and screenplay!

dang, i just recently went to The Ocean Club where this was filmed in the bahamas, I took some pictures comparing it to how it was in the movie, and a lot of stuff is the same! really cool!

I went to that island the year AFTER the film came out and they still had the 2 construction cranes there from the opening parkour scene.
I assumed there put there for the movie but ... no ... they were cranes being used for construction that the movie makers just wove into the filming just because they were there.
This is, hands down, my favorite Bond film. An amazing soundtrack, compelling script full of twists, a very down to earth realistic story and all the subtleness of espionage. Close to perfection!

Lemme go over this again, he gets trip aces on the first night in the casino, wins more cash than an years worth of salary and on top of that he also wins a collectible super car in which he drives the superhot wife of the guy from whom he won all this for a "drink". Hmmmmmmm.......Bond has more luck in these 4mins of the film than I've had in my lifetime.

I didn't enjoy this movie as much when it came out but I've watched it countless times after and it's by far the best bond movie in my opinion. It's a crossover of classic and new.

The Card Dealer here probably killed herself when she found out that Bond had tipped the Card Dealer at Montenegro a $500K chip but she got nothing
That was a gruelling three day tournament with hundreds of millions at stake and he was probably the most qualified dealer in Europe. This is just an after dinner game at a hotel

Technically that tip was worth nothing. The blue card chips represented one million, and red were half that amount. But that's meaningless, as it was a tournament and all moneys wagered were in the prize and chips only meant what stake you had left in the game.
This scene explains how "rookie" Bond really is, because when he asks Vesper to do this very same thing later on, he's drawing inspiration from this.

As an insurance geek I can confirm that what you have there is a Newly Acquired Car (NAC). He's got 14 days from the time he takes possession to notify his agent of the new car and select his coverages. I'm the meantime - the DB5 will have the same coverage as his existing policy. Now if he adds the ejector seat, the oil slick generators and the headlight mounted cannons, he'll need a special endorsement for them to be insured for comprehensive and collision.

Movie Trivia - When Bond says "Mind if I join you?" At the start, I loved how swarve that was so much, I used it as a chat up line on nights out. It had a 99% success rate. Enigma, charm, elegance, mystique, it had it all.

Looking back at this now it looks like it could have been filmed in the 60’s with some of the contrast/lighting/colouring going on in certain scenes, never noticed this back in 2006 when it came out and I saw it at the cinema
Spectre had some really stunning camerawork and shot composition too, regardless how you feel about the plot.

You got to love that Bond has the nuts and says “give him a chance to earn his money back” knowing that he’s winning the car.
This film came out 3 weeks after I had just learned to play poker (Texas ht) and as I was feverish with the game, a poker mate encouraged me to see Casino Royale telling me that they played poker in it. So I went to see it and came out thinking that it was the best Bond movie ever made. I stopped playing poker long ago but Casino Royale brings many good memories of an amazing time in my life. Long live the spy.

"Oh, and the vallet ticket." As with all Bond movies, the 'icing on the cake's so to speak, came with the little but important details. The scene where Craig comes out from the edge of death after being poisoned and then resuscitated by Vesper and he looks at her and asks: "Are you okay?" Lol, then the quick expression she gives him pulls the whole scene together.
It woulda been so funny if he decided to fight him to the death over the valet ticket. "The ticket was not on the table! You can have the car but the ticket is mine! Your move Mr. Bond." 😂

Bond politely joining the table could be like the only time he interacts with civilians who have nothing to do with anything, and who are not harmed in any way.

And with the other cards being a 9 diamond, a 3 heart, an ace of clubs, and a 7 heart, the only other winning move would be three aces. And one three-of-a-kind on its own has a roughtly 2% probability; having two is likely even lower. Dimitrios knew he had a good hand; it's just that Bond already had the higher hand from the start of the round.
