The foundation of MW5 and the moment to moment gameplay of MW5 is fantastic, but I wouldnt have put the many hundreds of hours into the game if it wasnt for mods. There will be more than electronics and ammo going into General slots. The items on the right side of the screen shows "Ferro Fibrous Armor Pods". Clearly its a way to add extra armor beyond the maximum. There could be more than this and customization could be much more nuanced than MW5M. On the topic of weapon sizes, I think it looks like the slots aren't subdivided into segments like in MW4 and expansions + mods. If they had fully hybridized the mechlab instead to include that detail, it would give a reason for omnipods with inferior weapon counts to exist. That is, the ones with less weapon counts will tend to be able to take larger weapons. It's too bad Clans aren't supposed to use PPC Capacitors until much later in the timeline. If they were on the table, you could argue that having 3 crit slots in one "weapon bay" would be desirable even when playing with the Clans and their tiny energy weapons.
Very excited, just hoping the Ebon Jaguar, Stone Rhino, and maybe even the bloodasp makes an appearence. (Kinda expecting the bloodasp to be absent since it came out in 3060)
This game, or at least the trailer, is reminding me of Tie Fighter in a couple ways. First is the whole, "playing as the bad guys" thing, and second is the part where they're attacking the dropship's turrets, which is reminiscent of TF where you'd systematically disarm capital ships by individually destroying their armaments (referred to as "pulling teeth".)
Interesting that its got "unlocked" at the bottom of the bespoke omnipod selection for locations, so clearly some sort of progression mechanic is being added in, perhaps you won't start with all those omnipod sets unlocked, which means what you're seeing there is quite late game in order to have so many variants unlocked.
The HUD is way too cluttered, really hoping the non gameplay elements will go by launch or be able to be modded out. Like the corner bits of the central HUD thing, they serve no purpose.
Been on a BT hiatus. Been munching on the most recent MW5C news. Im impressed! Though my few worries are that they over simplify HUD elements, Mech Lab, the immersive feel and sounds like from MW3.. Hope we get to change HUD colors, paperdoll or HTAL etc too. If they change too much with mechlab and ends up just being mw5 with clan coat. Same for getting mechs. BUYING?? Im a bit lore-canon rusty but especially before-during-even after Tukyyad, Clans duelled for ownership of mechs not buying like some money hungry spheroids? Hope this game gets so popular we get BIG dlcs for expanding the Smoke Jaguars storyline. Heck play as the FRR vs clan Wolf, Ghost Bear even Jade Falcon points of views. Its MW5 CLANS, not Clan Smoke Jaguar. For the Jags, imagine a 1st/ 3rd person view playing as the other side vs the I.S from Mw3 and Mech Commander games.
yup the broadsword is the clan version of the leopard it's ok. given a choose i would take dire wolf tied in with a summoner backed up with a couple of timber wolves and ryoken for speed
I think that is not a trial for becoming a warrior but trial for a bloodname. They have front line mechs for fighting. For a warrior trial it would be second line or outdated mechs.
Excited to see this arrive in 2 months. 2 copies for my son and I to enjoy. I wonder wht the replay value is? In MW5, i have 1500 hours played. Enjoyed just roaming around the factions of the I.S.
24:15 What I think would also be cool is if they tied it more to the lore. Not in how they work, but just utilizing them. Clans are overly proud warrior people who take honor seriously (even if Smoke Jaguar were the baddies, they still had than Clan superiority complex). Will you lose things like reputation for preserving yourself over having an "honorable fight"?
Do you know if the devs are going to try and create rules around Zelbrigen? Also, I hope the AI lancemates are more sophisticated so you can designate mech ROLES. e.g. fire support, short range brawler, medium range skirmishers, etc, etc.
It looks like Piranha addresses most of the issues from mercs (I had always assumed those issues were budget-related). If they addressed them well and don't fuck with the story, this game should kick ass.
I always said on forums they need to add word of blake tech at least as tech you can salvage and use partially 6:50 good to see they have this basically now
Ok looks a little more interesting now. I was really worried it was going to be HEAVILY on rails mission system where you just goto a level 1 to 10 loading screen then end game. I STILL wish they had a Career mode you could play after the story, maybe they can release a DLC for that, it would be nice.
24:00 Yeah perhaps these are gunship variants and not EL/L configs. We can only hope the AI isn't going to point blank us with long range weapons. If they do, then we shall need those mods!
About the last scene… T-wolf busting out of the gate is really cool, but animation still needs tweaked. My biggest problem is the camera angles. Basic filmmaking rule for in scene cuts is to establish sides for the characters. Summoner is looking down at T-wolf, but next shot looks like it’s getting shot from behind. After T-wolf comes around rock through flames (very cool), Jayden yells out looking to the left which is the same direction as the T-wolf. Summoner is looking to the right, but you’re Jayden? All in all this is confusing, and could have been mostly fixed with mirrored shots.
If its like mercs in the way weapons work then it aint that big of a deal. I weapon group a lot of them to my xbox controller buttons while keeping in mind the heat/dissipation . I did have a little problem with my Stalker over heating had 4 SRM6s on one button. I just ended up going with a pair on the right and left trigger buttons. Alls I use the sidebar for is dead weapons or low ammo.
I hope those pinky trees are a placeholder, they looks worse than my diorama trees :) Also they should reduce the overall too boxy mechs models. But I really look forward to this!
Is it ok for Jaguars to use rare (for them) Timber Wolf for trial of position? Is it ok for some random pirate king to use several Union dropships as bombs?
I have been wondering two things: 1. Will there be other inaccuracies in the game like 2:35 when UI tells Timber Wolf has 2x LRM 20 but you can only see 15 missiles per shoulder? I have also tried to find out when the Timber Wolf model was changed. The old black and white one looks cool too and the arms did not start from so high up like on this model at 2:35. If someone knows the latter I'd be happy to hear more if the TW had some lore-based evolution at some point. It was not a new model by 3049 after all.
That Image with Jayden's face reminded me more of Metal Gear Solid 5 than Call of Duty. Just give him an Eye-Patch and a Cyber Cigar! Metal shards poking out of the skull optional. xD
Great vid, thanks mate. The aesthetic, and some of the functionality (e.g. The top-down view), looks like it was pulled from BattleTech. Not criticisms at all, that game is one of my favourites for those reasons among a lot of others.
The ppcs behave like they did in MechCommander 1, 2, and MechAssault. There's no jetstream but it travels like a projectile ball I think if I saw it correctly.
i just hope there is an option to turn down the oversaturation. it looks way to childish/comicy for my taste. actually, tbh. if i buy or not mostly depends on VR working better than MW5:Mercs, im not enough of a MW fan to just throw money at them.
The game looks sick awesome epic! My only gripe is I’d like to be able to pick my Clan. It says “Clans” (pleural), not “Clan” (singular). Really hoping I can be a Ghost Bear and zap people in a Kodiak-1.
Anyone else unimpressed by the character models? The faces look great. But the bodies look thin. That is not the eugenics driven super warrior aesthetic to me. Granted, I’m not expecting everyone to be like Arnold. But they are not compelling to look at, physically at least.

I think a cool solution to distinguishing between a single hard point vs three would be the single variant having significantly reduced cooldown.
Absolutely will be picking this up day one. Bitchin’ Betty coming back is also such a fun and welcome surprise.
Looks like it's utilizing some sort of mixed asset doctrine. Love it.
I'd like to have the story line but then open world after, for playing it over and over again.
that mechwarrior 3 intro nod at the beginning
There is but one Truth, one Way...Clan Cloud Cobra!

What I think would also be cool is if they tied it more to the lore.
Okay, I noticed little detail on TBR Prime, missile racks have 15 warheads but the loadout says it have LRM20s.
When Mechs are air-dropped, I hope we get to experience that and possibly have to use JJ if dropped to high or in a weaker mech. idk , its different.
I really did enjoy good break down I can't wait also want to see more mech bay and pilot progression
would be interesting to know if there will be any kind of bidding system
It looks like Piranha addresses most of the issues from mercs (I had always assumed those issues were budget-related). If they addressed them well and don't fuck with the story, this game should kick ass.
I always said on forums they need to add word of blake tech at least as tech you can salvage and use partially
6:50 good to see they have this basically now
Ok looks a little more interesting now.
"Circle of Equals"
im just glad the graphics on the drop ship people dont look like they are from 1998
About the last scene… T-wolf busting out of the gate is really cool, but animation still needs tweaked.
Alls I use the sidebar for is dead weapons or low ammo.
will there be king crabs?
I hope those pinky trees are a placeholder, they looks worse than my diorama trees :) Also they should reduce the overall too boxy mechs models. But I really look forward to this!
Those footsteps sound like powered armor, not 75-100 ton mechs stomping about
Woohoo! Can't wait for this game!
The graphics look amazing
Mechlab.. what is going on... why
Hopefully, this has the same or better modding capabilities as Mercs
Looks Awesome!!. Guessing no Clan Mechs in this just Omni !?.
Is it ok for Jaguars to use rare (for them) Timber Wolf for trial of position?
Is it ok for some random pirate king to use several Union dropships as bombs?
I'm hoping the multiplayer is closer to MWO vs Mercs
Just commenting to let you know that I appreciate your Star League user icon, fellow Starfighter.
Metal shards poking out of the skull optional. xD
He looks more like a soyboy at an antifia rally fighting for male womb abortion rights 🤣
I wonder if they are keeping the one vs one aspect.
Great vid, thanks mate.
The aesthetic, and some of the functionality (e.g. The top-down view), looks like it was pulled from BattleTech.
Not criticisms at all, that game is one of my favourites for those reasons among a lot of others.
I hope they don't mess up the ray tracing in this game, like they did with MW5
I wish they would use the MWO ui in cockpit.
The ppcs behave like they did in MechCommander 1, 2, and MechAssault. There's no jetstream but it travels like a projectile ball I think if I saw it correctly.
The walking sounds like the mechwarrior forgot to put his silverware away...
Yes, I will buy the game for sure.
I'm puzzled by the fact that apparently there are "armor pods"...😅
Why would smoke Jaguar have a mad cat?
I think that the quick mechlab editing was intentional.
Im excited and I will buy it ;)
i just hope there is an option to turn down the oversaturation. it looks way to childish/comicy for my taste.
actually, tbh. if i buy or not mostly depends on VR working better than MW5:Mercs, im not enough of a MW fan to just throw money at them.
But do I get my Stormcrow like in Pyre Light? 😄
I am proper psyched.
hope this is like the cartoon
Wished MechWarrior 5 was a movie to watch
Wished Mech Warrior 5 was on BD-rom with the game as single player mode
Corruption exists
My biggest question is mod support. YAML saved MW5 for me.
without mods Mercs didn't really have customization. This is a big leap for the vanilla mechbay between the two games.
Mmm, that MADCAT looks good
Do you still have to install like 39 mods?
Bx I'll be honest i was and am psyched for all these mechwarrior
The CT is considered an omnipod? Interesting. MWO got me all mixed up lol.
The game looks sick awesome epic!
My only gripe is I’d like to be able to pick my Clan. It says “Clans” (pleural), not “Clan” (singular).
Really hoping I can be a Ghost Bear and zap people in a Kodiak-1.
Is there a discord server fir mechwarrior clans?
Anyone else unimpressed by the character models? The faces look great. But the bodies look thin. That is not the eugenics driven super warrior aesthetic to me. Granted, I’m not expecting everyone to be like Arnold. But they are not compelling to look at, physically at least.
What are you talking about, it clearly is next gen! lol. 😅Yea, underwhelming indeed...
I hate how mewed up everyone is. I'm ok with a mechwarrior that looks like a dismembered toe with a goofy helmet.
They are supposed to have higher tech then those.
Mechlab seems needlessly complicated
They "were" smoke jaguar
