Awesome interview. I love the song ‘Riff and Roll’ from the Pandora’s box box set, I put that one on my favorites mix. It was cool to hear him mention it. I love ‘Rock in a hard place’
I worked For Aerosmith for over 12 years Jimmy was a perfect gentleman We had the rental car to take him to and fro and after rehearsal or recording we had a libations and Entermanns cookies Loved working with Jimmy
Tyler passed out for good at the Worcester Centrum 11/16/1982. Not the Providence Civic Center. Saw 2 shows Rock in the Hard Place Tour 1982 at Worcester Centrum, Ma. including Tyler passing out. Crespo kicked ass on lead guitar.
Jimmy Crespo - the Vinnie Vincent of Aerosmith!!! 😊 Seriously, my favourite AS album - Crespo and Duffy did some sterling work on this record - would liked to have had more recordings from this lineup (and a UK tour).
Wow, where did this come from?👍 Great idea to interview this Cat. Back in the day, I was at least a Three Star General in ROSmith's "Blue Army" and a Joe Perry fiend. I mean ,he was the Man. He forced me to pick up guitar and I still play. But I saw Aerosmith with Jimmy Crespo at least three times and thought he was an excellent new part of the roster. Just like the interviewer,I thought it was cool as sh#t to see a really great player with a little different playing style up there playing those incredible songs. To me it was no different from, let's say the Stones picking up Ronnie Wood or any sports franchise signing a free agent or bringing up someone to fill a needr Just about the best replacement for Joe. There were great cuts on that album. Recorded before the dreaded drum machine essentially made commercial recordings unlistenable after 1983. One show was at the Worcester Centrum . It may have been a night or two after Tyler "fall down go boom"😂 in Providence. Perhaps three tunes into the set he looked like he was going to do a repeat. He was crawling towards a huge electric fan set up on stage. Amazingly he made it through the show . Jimmy , here, proved himself to be the consummate pro. Kept a smile on his face and the show went on. Maybe he was livid inside but he masked it honorably and played the show smooth as a baby's bum literally and figuratively. I owe TH-cam's algorithm an apology for today at least. There's thousands that would be curi ous about this Man's story. His situation was certainly a unique one in Rock history. I won't blow it for the audience. This is worth listening to I saw a video on TH-cam of "Walking In the Sand" live with Crespo lifting off with an absolutely dynamite, spontaneous, unrehearsed solo full of feel and energy that made ya say "F#cking awesome". Nothing beats that raw ROSmth style of Rock n Roll. Only a few "get it' and know how to do it right. Oh the rehearsal place was in Waltham, about 3 football fields away from my JHS.
Great album. Ive always loved the 80s metal guitar sound. I collected all of Aerosmith's albums in '88, after Permanent Vacation came out, and RIAHP was definitely towards the top. Me and my brother listened to them all and I asked him if he liked ROCKS or RIAHP and RIAHP won. Its got that 80s metal sound. And yes we considered Aerosmith an 80s metal band because they were in the 80s metal magazines and in the Metal section at Camelot Music. The Rolling Stones are a great band, but i think Aerosmith doesnt match up as a clone. They excel with the hard and heavy metal screaming sounds, not the sweet soul love squeals that Steven Tyler started doing from Pump forward. I love the metal guitars of PV, RIAHP and yes i love the RunDMC version of Walk This Way better than the Toys cut ... probaly get censored for saying what the music industry doesnt want to hear, but i like macho sounding music, and for some reason, it works great when S.T. and Aerosmith does it. Overly macho men in grungy metal bands doing it just sounds retarded, but Aero is cool as metal. And Jimmy Crespo a way cool guitarist. Music From Another Dimension(2012) made me sick to hear, not even rock. They need the testosterone back, they obviously were trying to sound like the Stones mixed with Queen with Steven immitating Aretha Franklin. Sad. Need to metal it up. Thanks for keeping Aerosmith around JC
Chiquita, No Surprise, Lightning Strikes are on my Frequent TH-cam Videos Playlist. Joe Perry was Jealous of Lightning Strikes he said on interview and did cool cover Manning Bowl in Lynn and Back in the saddle no new album tour but Brad Whitford Joe Perry reunited and at Providence Civic Center Rhode Island December 28, 1984 reported to MEPS Boston flown to Fort Jackson SC for Twelve week Infantry jungle guerilla warfare 1965 experimental basic training test cycle Tank Hill A-10-1 Drill Sergeant Smith and Drill Sergeant Richardson. I felt good about Aerosmith but felt sad that Jimmy Crespo was out of band I enjoy listening to Night in the ruts and Rock in hard place and 2024 think those best 2 Aerosmith Albums of career and three Videos previously mentioned Jimmy Crespo fit perfect had awesome licks hooks and riffs and Joe Perry wish he wrote lightning Strikes which awesome compliment to Jimmy Crespos talent cool to find this 14 yr old interview video on my For You feed Thanks for posting this😎👍🎸🎶🎵
1983, I saw a concert at Orange Arena, Orlando, FL. BRYAN ADAMS AEROSMITH SAMMY HAGAR ☆JOURNEY☆ Bryan Adams great Aerosmith sad Sammy Hagar great Journey Amazing
Both. I have the newspaper review for 82. It was not kind. However I remember the buffalo evening news critic calling the RIAHP album a“ raging snarling comeback “
Probably my favorite album from them. In part cuz it doesn’t really sound like Aerosmith lol. Far better than Permanent Vacation or Pump and is even better than Rocks or Toys in The Attic
The guitars riffs on this album and the incredible songs still make this album a killer
I wish this formation of Aerosmith would’ve put out a second album.
Agree
Exactly
Jimmy Crespo kicks ass on the guitar. It's a badas album, listen to it today. You would be like holy shit. He's great 👍
Joanies' Butterfly is number 3 in my top 5 favorite Aerosmith songs of All time.
I remember first hearing this album and it was f fantastic. I wasn’t a huge Aerosmith fan but I thought it was such a cool album… I still do 👍💯
Saw Crespo play the Ritz NYC with Squier, late 80’s. He was great and everyone knew He had been in Aerosmith!!!
Awesome interview. I love the song ‘Riff and Roll’ from the Pandora’s box box set, I put that one on my favorites mix. It was cool to hear him mention it. I love ‘Rock in a hard place’
That album is Jimmy Crespo’s masterpiece.
I agree 100% Thank you for listening!
Jimmy was the inspiration for me to date awesome guitar players. Even when he was in Flame in the 1970’s
He has super talent ❤ Gifted!
Priceless.

RIAHP will always B me fave Aerosmith album. Also love Mr. Crespo 's contribution on Adam Bomb' s " Fatal Attraction".
Steven Tyler passed out at the Worcester Centrum not Providence Civic Center in 1982, I want to say it was sometime in November.
It was the Worcester Centrum

BRYAN ADAMS
AEROSMITH
SAMMY HAGAR
☆JOURNEY☆
Bryan Adams great
Aerosmith sad
Sammy Hagar great
Journey Amazing
But yet people on here would like you to believe it was their best version ever.
Worth it just to see Joey in a tie. Despite a dark period for the band. There were some Jewels to be found.
Joey always had a suit on hand in case he was to be in front of a judge LOL
It has some good songs, bur people are nuts to call it better than Get your Wings, Toys in the Attic, and Rocks.
Buffalo! Saw them at the Aud. I liked this album more Night in the Ruts.
Hey David, that's awesome. What show? 1980 or 1982?
Both. I have the newspaper review for 82. It was not kind. However I remember the buffalo evening news critic calling the RIAHP album a“ raging snarling comeback “
3 great songs Lightning Strikes, Cry Me A River , & Rock In A Hard Place Cheshire Cat the rest not so much
Crespo
Way better than the jive they put out after him
Nib Jimmy was doing plenty of drugs. He was not levelheaded.
No thanks
Stupid comment, if it wasn't for Jimmy, Aerosmith would have never been heard from again .
Corporate crap in music. Kills it every time
I have to say I think Jimmy and Rick were equal if not better than Joe and Brad. IMO
Stop.
4What I've seen on several live video's Mr. Dufay is certainly a vibrant stage personality.
😂
Jimmy and Rick could play. Problem was that the fans and Steven Tyler would never accept Jimmy Crespo. Kinda sad but it's true.
@@johnmassoud930 Rick was bad..
Probably my favorite album from them. In part cuz it doesn’t really sound like Aerosmith lol. Far better than Permanent Vacation or Pump and is even better than Rocks or Toys in The Attic
Lol. No way is it better than Rocks.
@@creeper2054 Rocks doesn’t have anything like Lightning Strikes or Joanie’s Butterfly
