What's really great about this is that it's not just a drummer (or two) pounding the skins for eight minutes while the guitarist and bassist go backstage for a beer. It's a full-on, balls to the wall instrumental that *showcases* the drummers' talent.
I was lucky enough to see them perform this live in March of '04 when they opened for Metallica in Vancouver. Absolutely astonishing to witness first hand.
I seen this for the first time in 04 too in south bend Indiana I was front row center..I caught silly’s drumstick and I caught the opening act Dropbox drumstick too… best concert I’ve ever been to and I’ve seen a lot
I don't believe there is another drumming duo that could match the intensity of this battle. Hands down one of the greatest drumming combinations I've ever witnessed.
i've seen them play this and it was a treat to see it live. Now i just relive the experience by putting the dvd on my 60" TV crank up the surround sound & sit right in front of the screen. thanks for posting
I seen these guys play this awesome song/jam "Batalla De Los Tambores" in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada since June 17/06. It totally blew my mind away cuz I never seen a synced performance by Sully and Shannon. And ever since then I'm waiting to get a chance to see them again. Rock On!! ;) I also have this dvd "Changes" too. XD
Godsmack's drum battle is the best synch'd battle in the modern rock era. The closest thing to a synch'd dual drum battle was from the Genesis farewell concert when Chester Thompson and Phil Collins did a drum battle during the concert. The Genesis concert live at Toronto's Exhibition Stadium was the first concert I ever saw and it was amazing. Cheers!!
I saw them live in South Bend from 2nd row center.....and as amazing as this video is, it doesn't even begin to do the performance justice. It is EASILY the most amazing live performance of ANYTHING (music or otherwise) that I have ever seen.
I just saw them last Tues. here in Colorado Springs at the nicely sized City Auditorium...they're always awesome! I think it was our 6th Godsmack show and the 3rd one with the drum battle. Wicked!
I have searched on google and read something about that they had a concert in februari 2008 ( so this year ) , so the band still exists then. GLAD THEY STILL DO!!!:p
I was able to witness the drum duet at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, MA. I'm pretty sure they did the same thing everywhere they toured that year. In any case it was a very entertaining show to attend.
I will NEVER get sick of this video..this has got to be THE most awesome drum battle that I've EVER seen and I love Godsmack besides! I grew up with 2 drummers, love percussion in almost every shape and form & I can name most all the drums and cymbals. I don't know who's who but he who has/plays the hand drums on his set is awesome! To tittles93...I grew up in Syracuse (I'm assuming you mean NY), they were here a couple years ago but I didn't go..I'm too old to be liking this kind of music :P.
I just saw these guys in concert last month, they fucken rocked the house!! They have a little bit different duo now and added more new awesome shit to the show. I've seen them three times and will go back for more :P
@TheAnthonyandBillsho OMG!! I saw these guys performe the drum battle on their Faceless tour. It was the best performance Ive been to still to this day. Thanks Godsmack for giving me the best time of my life!!
The fact is Godsmack and Disturbed are the greatest bands of this generation, 50 years from now they will be the classic rock of our kids generation. and anyone who says they are a rip off of alice in chains obviously doesn't understand music at all, AIC kicks ass but there is no one that can play like Shannon out there, also they are 2 different genres... BIIITTCHHESS!!!
Godsmack often say they're influenced by Rush's music. "Serenity" was written as a tribute to Neil Peart (Rush drummer). He lost his daughter, Selena, when she was heading back to college and was killed in a car accident due to snowy conditions, then six months later Peart's wife succumbed to cancer. (Can you tell that Rush is my favorite band?) In this drum solo they play the following clips: YYZ (Rush), Walk This Way (Run-DMC/Aerosmith), Moby Dick (Led Zepplin) and Tom Sawyer (Rush [again]).
This is the BEST duet EVER!!!! It's 10x better in person. Godsmack rules ass and will continue to do so for a LONG TIME!!!!
What's really great about this is that it's not just a drummer (or two) pounding the skins for eight minutes while the guitarist and bassist go backstage for a beer. It's a full-on, balls to the wall instrumental that *showcases* the drummers' talent.

@carmello2003 calm down bro it was Metallica, whom Godsmack would not exist without. I'm sure they were honored.
I seen this for the first time in 04 too in south bend Indiana I was front row center..I caught silly’s drumstick and I caught the opening act Dropbox drumstick too… best concert I’ve ever been to and I’ve seen a lot
Same! I saw them in Phx on that tour, and while I was just a casual fan of Godsmack going in, I became a huge fan after that show.
Best duo of drummers,indefinitely.😇🥁🤘🪘😄
67 yrs old abs still Rockin on godsmack
I don't believe there is another drumming duo that could match the intensity of this battle.
Hands down one of the greatest drumming combinations I've ever witnessed.
I love it, they are perfectly in sync, seen this live several times and my god it never gets old. Fucking love this!
Single handedly one of the coolest things you will ever witness and a concert.
I have seen this twice in concert, I have the dvd, and still can't stop watching it! Forget about it!!
I can NEVER get enough of this movie I must've seen it a million times already and it still moves ye
This was my favourite part of their concert here.
Already on replay number 5. I can't get enough of this.
One of the best drumming duets i've ever seen!
i've seen them play this and it was a treat to see it live. Now i just relive the experience by putting the dvd on my 60" TV crank up the surround sound & sit right in front of the screen.

One of the most fun and entertaining drum bits ever done!
I seen these guys play this awesome song/jam "Batalla De Los Tambores" in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada since June 17/06.
