What's really great about this is that it's not just a drummer (or two) pounding the skins for eight minutes while the guitarist and bassist go backstage for a beer. It's a full-on, balls to the wall instrumental that *showcases* the drummers' talent.
I was lucky enough to see them perform this live in March of '04 when they opened for Metallica in Vancouver. Absolutely astonishing to witness first hand.

I seen these guys play this awesome song/jam "Batalla De Los Tambores" in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada since June 17/06. It totally blew my mind away cuz I never seen a synced performance by Sully and Shannon. And ever since then I'm waiting to get a chance to see them again. Rock On!! ;) I also have this dvd "Changes" too. XD
Godsmack's drum battle is the best synch'd battle in the modern rock era. The closest thing to a synch'd dual drum battle was from the Genesis farewell concert when Chester Thompson and Phil Collins did a drum battle during the concert. The Genesis concert live at Toronto's Exhibition Stadium was the first concert I ever saw and it was amazing. Cheers!!

I was able to witness the drum duet at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, MA. I'm pretty sure they did the same thing everywhere they toured that year. In any case it was a very entertaining show to attend.

I don't know who's who but he who has/plays the hand drums on his set is awesome! To tittles93...I grew up in Syracuse (I'm assuming you mean NY), they were here a couple years ago but I didn't go..I'm too old to be liking this kind of music :P.

The fact is Godsmack and Disturbed are the greatest bands of this generation, 50 years from now they will be the classic rock of our kids generation. and anyone who says they are a rip off of alice in chains obviously doesn't understand music at all, AIC kicks ass but there is no one that can play like Shannon out there, also they are 2 different genres... Godsmack often say they're influenced by Rush's music. "Serenity" was written as a tribute to Neil Peart (Rush drummer). He lost his daughter, Selena, when she was heading back to college and was killed in a car accident due to snowy conditions, then six months later Peart's wife succumbed to cancer. (Can you tell that Rush is my favorite band?) In this drum solo they play the following clips: YYZ (Rush), Walk This Way (Run-DMC/Aerosmith), Moby Dick (Led Zepplin) and Tom Sawyer (Rush [again]).
