Hi! If you didn’t label this as your first podcast, I’d never guess it. You didn’t seem nervous at all. Great job, and I look forward to following your knitting journey.
Hi Vanissia. I have just discovered your podcast! I am really enjoying your podcasts whilst I am knitting. Thanks for sharing all your knitting knowledge and garments that you have knit. I will find you over in revelry also. Your descriptions are PERFECT, good speed, great detail, lighting, sound all excellent. 🥰 Sharon
This was great, can't believe it's your first podcast. You provided so much inspiration and information. I appreciate when you describe your views about the pattern, how it was written and any changes you made. I loved sweater you were wearing, you did a beautiful job. Looking forward to future podcasts. Thank you
Wow, thank you! That's great feedback, I'll make sure to keep mentioning those things. And that is one of my favourites for sure, it makes a lot of appearances on work calls :D
I stumbled across one of your more recent podcasts and absolutely loved it. I loved it so much that I decided to go back to the beginning - Episode 1. Your thorough and honest review of the patterns, yarn and fit is so valuable. Looking forward to spending time with you while I knit on my own projects. You are so inspiring!
Hi Vanissia! Congratulations on your excellent first podcast. You're a natural and I really enjoyed your listening to your talk about your knitting! Well done!
I can’t believe this is your first podcast! You have a lovely speaking voice, and I loved hearing about your works and yarns. Can’t wait for future episodes! Now I really want to get some Kinross 4-ply…
Thank you so much! That is so lovely. And yes, if you have easy access to it, i'd recommend it 100%. Definitely worth knitting a fingering weight sweater with as the result is delicious
Hi Vanissia, you did a great job with the first episode, I'm hoping for more to come soon! I'm a bit of a language nerd and particularly enjoyed the mix of your VERY good English with a bit of Scottish pronunciation and the slightest trace of a Belgian accent (probably not even noticeable to most people). Also I found the amount you spoke about each project to be perfect. So please continue the podcast
Thank you so much! And that's so funny for the accent, I was always wondering whether the scottish accent would somehow permeate my pronunciation. When learning at school, we often learned some american english so sometimes I use those words instead of the british ones (for instance pants =/= trousers). Hope you enjoy future episodes!
@@thewoollyworker If you go back in the video and for example listen to the way you say "pattern" (more like pa'urrrn) there is definitely Scottish in there :D
Well done for the first podcast I really love how you explain everything That’s the what was missing in podcast you don it so beautiful and very good thank you again
After hearing all the positive cashmere-exclamations, I ordered kinross 4ply from the UK (to The Netherlands). It is on its way now. I hope it is as soft as everyone says. Because I have a very very sensitive skin, f.e. I cannot wear any mohair or alpaca. I tried out different high end mohairs and concluded that the whole category is not for me, sadly. Not even the Isager mohair, or the Lang lace. I am looking forward to more episodes from you to keep me company this year while knitting.
Aw thank you so much! I hope you like it. It really is something you have to feel for yourself to really realise. That's a shame for Lang Lace, I've heard good things about it, so it's on my list. Good luck in your search of alternatives!
Love your videos and so glad I found you. Definitely going to put the Sycamore sweater in my queue. Am binding off on the Aros sweater and it too has the wonderful saddle shoulder.
What a wonderful podcast! I love your sycamore sweater. I have been looking for a shawl design that has the same feel with short row "slices" going through it. I also like to start the body of my top-down sweaters then stop and finish the sleeves. I do this partly because I like to keep my sleeve stitches on a spare circular needle, and if I finish the sleeves I can get rid of the hardware. Besides, there is something very satisfying about reaching the bottom hem and knowing my sweater is done (except for weaving in ends and other little bits of finishing).
Thank you! It was a genius technique and a unique sweater I had never seen the look of before, so I wanted a staple piece! And I absolutely agree with reaching the body and getting that "i'm really finished" vibe! Although I am guilty of waiting too long to weave in the ends ... getting better with blocking straight away though! I feel it "honours" the project and does it justice (and photographs better anyways)
Really enjoyed your 1st episode and I am looking forward to the next one. Your knits are beautiful. The sycamore sweater looks so good. Love your color choices🥰
Well done on your first video. I found it very enjoyable to watch. Well edited, good light, and I like how detailed you were talking about it and how you showed it, particularly in the edited part with good light in the flat. I have added this sweater to my queue!
Thank you very much for your comment, it means the world! I'm glad you liked the editing style, I'll make sure to keep incorporating those elements in future vids. The sweater was a lot of fun to make, hope you make it soon!
Hi Vanissia! I've just finished watching all three of your episodes so far and let me say -- our queues and FO piles are almost identical!! I have just finished up the Daily Pullover, and I'm itching to cast on my Cargill (or Kerr, I can't decide). You've done a great job with your episodes so far and I'm looking forward to more! xx from Canada :)
Oh that's fun !! You have good taste, hehe. Definitely feel the dilemma there! I do have the yarn for the cargill and not for the kerr so i think this will guide my choice. Hope all is good in Canada!
I definitely enjoyed your first video. Smooth and coherent. I also need to "get over myself" and just pick up stitches to finish a project. For me, it's sleeves. I've had a project waiting to be finished for 2 years now. The sleeves are the last bit, but I had to adjust the pattern some, so I can't just pick up the specified amount. Lots of jiggery pokery and maths to work out how many exactly. And I just don't *want* to do it. Oh well. It'll wait for another year, probably. Lol
Thank you for the feedback! It's hard to find the balance between chatty and rambly/incoherent aha. And sleeves can be awful, I find it really hard to do the second sleeve or second sock, but at least for sleeves, my trick is to pick up the stitches for both sleeves on the same day, then work down one. Then I don't have to go and pick up the stitches as it is already done! But it is annoying when there is some maths/jiggery pokery, as it interrupts the flow. Good luck though!!!
Hi, really loved watching your first podcast and look forward to catching up on the rest of your videos. Love everything that you have knit and look forward to seeing your future makes. Definitely have a go at the cable vest, they are always so classic, I knit traditional Irish aran sweaters for many many years and still love knitting arans. Is your video at the end taken at Linthgow Lough, I live just along the road in Falkirk xx
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed this first episode. I definitely want to do more cables now !! I am hooked. And you're spot on, I live in Linlithgow ! Small world x
you did such a good job! the sweater that you're wearing made me put it on my definite to-do list. i like that you talked about the specifics of your projects. west yorkshire spinners is wonderful yarn, but my socks grew, too. on my next pair i’m either going to cut down 4 cast-on stitches or go down a needle size to see if that helps. keep up the good work!
Thank you for your comment! And yay, I'm glad to see more people do the sycamore, there haven't been that many versions of it yet. I'll definitely try and size down a needle next time i use WYS. Although I am worried the cuff will then be too tight! We will have to experiment
Aw thank you for the comment but I don't speak any dutch, sadly, just french !! But I'm glad you enjoy the episodes and yeah come to scotland one day !! beautiful country ♥
Well done :) Just a caution - don't wind your yarn into cakes until you're ready to use it - it does stretch the yarn a bit, and the longer it stays in that form, it loses a bit of its give. Very much enjoyed watching!
Really enjoyed your podcast and your honest description of yarn and patterns. Love the Sycamore sweater. Is Isager Jensen an itchy yarn? I would like to knit the Moby sweater in Isager Jensen and Isager mohair. I love the colours. But very few yarn shops in the UK stock Jensen so I don’t have the opportunity to do a Touchy-Feel!!! Did you buy the Jensen online? Anyway happy knitting in 2023 and looking forward to your next podcast.
Hello! I find the Jensen fine, but to be honest, as it is paired with the mohair, I feel the mohair more than I feel the Jensen, you know? It's not as soft as a merino, but it's not as scratchy and rough as shetland wool. If you can tolerate mohair, then I think Jensen would be fine for the Moby, but of course it always depends on preference! I bought mine online and was happy with it
Hi there I just found your podcast and thought it was great, loved your makes and acquisitions. Beautiful yarn and colours! I thought I recognised the background in you B roll footage, it looked a lot like Dumfries. Anyway congratulations on your podcast and I look forward to the next episode. X
Thank you for the lovely words and wow, you've got a keen eye! We used to live in Dumfries indeed, and now we've just moved but the views really were lovely x
@@thewoollyworker ah good to know my eyes weren't deceiving me, I often walk along that way in my lunch break. Enjoy living in Edinburgh, its a great place to be. 😊
Knitting just one sock at a time is frustrating, I knit the two socks each on a different set of needles at the same time, you do need two sets of needles but that’s ok if you knit a lot of socks. Knit the rib on both sets of needles, then down to the heel on both etc , carry on like this doing each section on both before moving on thus they are finished at the same time with out the difficulties of magic loop. It’s the same amount of knitting but you never have one sock finished and can’t be bothered to knit the second.

Just a suggestion
Put all your swatches together and make a blanket or wrap around.
