return to the traditional farming and try to do it in a much smart way rather than going after this hybrid and gm farming.its time to do the farming in the zero budget natural farming
I think this episode is specially made for Advertising Pioneer Du-Pont Hybrid seeds. Did they show any Rainwater Harvesting Solution for receding water table in Punjab. Are Hybrid Seeds or GM Seeds (Banned in many countries) only solution for water scarcity.
I'm seeing more and more vids where Indian farmers are reviving ancient methods combined with newer for water harvesting with very positive results. They take full advantage of the monsoon, putting water back into the ground rather then let it run off and flow away. A lot of the methods they use are low tech, easy to maintain and don't require a lot of money just the willingness of the farmers and villages to work together.
Underground water resources are utilized not wasted. Selling raw food n crops instead of making it into finised goods is also wastage of income n employment resoucers.
India has vast amounts of seasonal water at high altitude in the Himalayas , whilst I appreciate some of these valleys pollute the water with Arsenic this pollution is generated by erosion of the valley floors, should dams be built in these valleys erosion would be stopped and improve water quality down stream, these valleys could easily be identified by geological survey. further more water from these dams could be piped without pumping to most of India providing water to drought stricken regions as required.Of course there appears to be more will from government to back large GM agro business or allow unaided local people to come up with their own solutions, one has to wonder why?????????? The facts are simple huge numbers of people are drowned each year in the annual floods whilst others are dying of hunger and thirst and yet nothing is being done by government who seem quite happy to leave social improvement to any body else just as long as it does not require them to make any effort beyond getting their new suits fitted.

So India has 16% of the World's population but only 4% "share" of the world's water resources. This makes it seem if somehow India has been "cheated" in not getting a fair "share" of the world's fresh water. Well maybe the problem is that India has overpopulated its nation and now they are short on water? Don't you think? Perhaps if India had only say 200 or 250 million people, they might not be short on water. Perhaps if Indians had not been having 6-8 kids per family up until fairly recently (India's population in 1950 was 340 million), they might not have such water shortages.

An infomercial for Du Pont.....
he is really a genius . and hope the New government takes the notice..
This is the only way we can save India from water shortage.
no industrial farming for rural India - use your endemic species of crops - greets from Germany
Nicely explain
