Oh man, this was the episode where i just can't stop watching till the finale. Tears of despair, tears of hype, just non stop emotional roller coaster. The final stretch of S/G 0 were some unforgetable experience to me, feel bad to anyone that just dropped the series early on.
Honestly Altair section onwards is absolute god tier. Quite interesting to look up Orihime and Altair. Basically Orihime is the Japanese name for the star Vega, and in eastern mythology Vega and Altair were literally star crossed lovers. Vega was a godess who fell in love with Altair, a mortal. When Vega’s dad found out he cast them both out and they became stars, forever in love but forever separated by space. I really think the last part of S;G0 really gives Mayuri an amazing arc, the whole thing is just goated tbh
Watching this makes me want to see the VN again cause it's so different! But even then, the last few episodes of the anime actually surpasses the ending of the VN!
Very important context about the stars - Vega(织女星/织姬/ Orihime) and Altair (牛郎星/彦星 / Hikoboshi). These 2 stars has a love legend in the Far East Culture. It is said that there was a young man in the countryside who herds cows. One day, he walked past a lake and saw a beautiful girl bathing in a lake (some legend say there were many girls but only one is important to the story anyway), he took and hid her clothes away (very inappropriate by today's standards but it is what it is) because he doesn't want her to leave. The girl was in fact a fairy/goddess that descent from the heaven (her name is Orihime or 织女 (literally means sewing princess) which means her job is to make clouds - by sewing), her clothes allows her to fly and without her clothes she couldn't make her way back to the heaven. Anyway, that's how they met, then love story happens yada yada yada….and fast-forward to the mother of all goddess - Orihime's mom found out that Orihime had been staying down in human realm for too long and was in love with a peasant, she was furious, and demanded soldiers to bring her back. The couple got separated, sad parting love story yada yada yada...and Hikoboshi decided to go after Orihime, somehow his cow becomes magical (some kind of magic godmother bs, it is different in different vers of the legend), anyway now the cow can fly, he rode his cow to heaven and look for Orihime. Despite Hikoboshi's effort, Hikoboshi and Orihime were separated by the 银河/Ginga aka Galaxy = the stream of stars that looked like a river and he couldn't cross the river of stars to reach Orihime, then miracle happened, a bunch of magpie (birds of love) learned about their love story, was touched and flock together, formed a bridge to allow Hikoboshi to cross the galaxy river and meet Orihime. Mother Goddess was moved by their unwavering love, but love between a human and a goddess were still forbidden. She ultimately decide to promote Hikoboshi and Orihime to become stars - they became Altair and Vegas respectively. These two stars are forever separated by a stream of other stars (the galaxy river) and not allowed to reunite. But only once a year, 7th of July of the lunar calendar, these two stars are allowed to meet (align in the sky). 7th July is also considered the Eastern version of Valentine's Day
Watching SG0 in between ep 22 and 23 is actually a legit variation of enjoying the story. It's like the endless debates about Star Wars watch order, there is no right answer. But the safest and most normie one is of course realese order. Same thing here. Release order the safest, although chronological might be better or worse depending on a specific person
This was the episode that drew me back into SG0. I binged the show but for the life of me can't remember anything from episode 8 through episode 16. But from here till the end...just...perfect.
Yeah the mid section feels like it focuses too much on side stuff. Maybe it's necessary to feel the impact on the other characters but still. I think it's remnants from all the cut content/arcs like with Yuki, Kagari, that one friend of Mayuri, etc.
@@ShreN_ Right? The middle takes a step back to give us characters that just…feel okay? It’s weird. I like the characters, but I feel like they could have been woven into Okabe’s story a little more. Especially Kagari. I need to play the VN still, but the anime made her feel more like a dalliance than an actual character.
@@bibbumblebee it's because SG is a linear story, so the anime can be adapted easily. Bit SG 0 is non linear with lots of different routes and endings, so the anime had to combine all the big parts and scrap the rest, which is why it feels disjointed. If all the cut content was adapted the anime would need like 50-100 episodes.
Kuri-gohan and Kamehameha is Kurisu's @channel handle. That's not a spoiler because you're supposed to know that already as it was mentioned several times in S;G.
When Ben talks about how it would be if after steins;gate spisode 23 you started steins;gate 0 that's what I did and what is highly recommended within the steins;gate community (And I think that is what the authors would want since they are really the same show but in 2 seasons basically).. Personally I feel that I enjoyed the show more that way and the reward at the end is more valuable, but I also understand that people want to watch it chronologically as it came out...
Nah there was no plan for S;G 0 after S;G finished, the story of S;G 0 was non-existent at all, not even in the author’s head. The author definitely DID NOT wish for anyone to watch S;G0 in between S;G. The fact that they managed to expand on an already well established show is what makes S;G 0 writing so brilliant. S;G 0 is meant to be watched after S;G.
@@rabela1810 the fact that it wasn't written since the beginning doesn't mean anything. Author may have decided that was the way while writing S;G0. This order makes payoff much stronger. Everything becomes the story of S;G0 Okabe, enhancing the depressive feeling and the emotional significance of the certain scene from ep21.
@@reikolightI'm not arguing about the difference in watching experience. You can watch the sandwich version if you want to and I agree that gives a different experience. I'm just pointing out the Complete BS that the author intended anyone to watch S;G 0 in between S;G. That's just FALSE. In fact, here's a documentary about the making of S;G 0 - th-cam.com/video/BgsldtoWfxQ/w-d-xo.html - very interesting stuff I'm sure you'll enjoy it. It includes multiple interviews with the voice actors, animators, the main author and EVEN THE SINGER that sang the OPs, it tells you exactly how the idea of S;G 0 came to be. You can see the author (Shikura-san, the guy in the car) clearly described how he wanted the fans to watch S;G 0 and the experience he wished for/expected from the audience - which is finish S;G --> caught 23 beta by surprise --> S;G 0. To put it simply in case you don't understand the Japanese nor the Chinese subtitles (Which is completely okay) He expects fans to have finish S;G. He wanted to surprise the fans who have finished S;G, that during a re-airing of S;G (remember anime are aired on TV in Japan), the episode 23 beta suddenly jumps out of no where and catch people off guard - HE WANTED THAT SURPRISE ELEMENT. That SURPRISE ELEMENT is what gives birth to S;G 0. He wanted the fans to experience a different story to the original story, to be able to compare and contrast, appreciate the difference of how the story will play out if THAT happened instead. Which would not be possible if you watch the sandwich way. That's just made up by some fans - which is fine. In fact, 23 beta was aired long before S;G 0 was made. 23 beta was born and aired first, he just wanted a different timeline for surprise but did not have a full story in mind at that time. Again, I'm not saying the sandwich version is a bad experience, I am saying the statement "author intended it this way" is SIMPLY UNTRUE

My favorite episode of the series, but I can not get behind Daru's punch. Violence is NOT okay!
Omg, this episode made me hate Okarin a lot and at the end shattered my heart into pieces.
I mean none of us would have done any different at his position tbh
