Base on my observation nowadays, her voice losses weight and rasp became more noticeable as she goes higher. Anyways, of course, when you go higher your voice become thinner and more pitchy too matching the keys. Her whistles became less airy and heavy too that is why it sounded like headtone (you can only know it is whistle because it is disconnected). But her technique is still there. I really love the arrangement in this version. Her voice remains colorful still thou it changes a lot. I love you MC.

Am I the only one who sees nothing wrong with this performance 😂 Ive listened a million times to find something wrong with it but can’t. People who can’t/don’t sing for some reason think it’s so easy and believe they could do better, like I’d love to see that lmao. You go ahead and sing an entire song at this high of a key and see if you even last.
Her style is more raspy and it sounds GOOD. She’s hitting the same notes just with a different tone. Rasp sounds good- listen to pink! Vocals are a muscle and they age and change just like our other muscles. It would be like getting mad at the best athlete you can think of for not being able to do what they did in their 20s thirty years later, yet they’re still better at said sport than everyone 😂 Or, better yet, just having a change in technique to accomplish the same task as before. Let her age in peace- we forget even Aretha aged eventually.

Not everything is attributed to age. She did not always take care of her voice and it shows. It's well known that she overworks and wears herself out as well. It's not just rasp, it's eeking out the notes with great struggle. Not all the time, not everywhere but not OK for a professional stadium. It's OK to love Mariah and admit she made a mistake. People need to calm down.

lovely first of all but I think it should be a lower key, and less autotune. Mariah still has a nice voice but its starting to get a bit sharp on the upper chest belts idk what she has to do to regain that nice resonance of 93 and power of like 2005 but she will always be a great singer:)
She won’t have the resonance she had in 94 unfortunately…. Too much vocal damage. Her voice unfortunately will get more sharp if she doesn’t take the key down. Belting at the top of your range for 30+ years really wear and tears on the vocal chords.
The whistle was a bit dry.. but she still killed it nonetheless!!
Her whistles are a lot more heady now. Like when I started off whistling. Probably because she has to use different techniques to accommodate her current condition.

I don't think her voice has changed, she is actually taking a different approach to her mixed voice, she's had always a very balanced mix but lately it got Chester so I think she is reateaching herself to sing as she did for Butterfly, The Emancipation of Mimi and Me I'm Mariah The elusive Chanteuse. Remember the reels she had posted during the pandemic without a mic and her tone was the same as it has in the past 17 years. Because of nodules, normal growth of the vocal folds, loss of elasticity and less swellness on her nodules now allow her to play a bit more, she is engaging her false chords at times and singing with more twang than usual. I think this has been an arrangement she started with We belong together in February. She is trying to sing in a lighter tone than before but her agility is way better than 2018

of course she ageing and had nodules duh, even though it's not easy for her to reach those notes she is still able to hit it. For me she is still unmatched and never be.

I'm glad she continues to do what she does and she's very much active every Christmas. But she simply doesn't sound anymore half like she used to. Love those whispers and soft vocals, but her full- sounding belts are now sounding like a choked little girl.

Hate to say it but - considering she’s saying she’s had all this rest during the pandemic and her voice has improved and they’re doing all this experimentation in the Butterfly Lounge etc etc…..all the vocals are overproduced and over autotuned. She sounds weird and like a robot. I’m sure her voice HAS improved but she needs someone of authority to tell her that she doesn’t need all this weird extra shit done to her vocals. I really hope the next album doesn’t have these weird effects on her voice. I’d rather hear her natural and honest current vocals

Most female artistes voices over time becomes fuller but decreases in range with lower registers. Mariah's chest voice has thinned to almost non recognition. Luckily, she has created a bountiful body of musical gems that will live on forever, unlike her voice....
Well I think you don't know how to differentiate between chest and mixed. She is mostly singing in mixed voice here and head, barely any chest, and her chest is stronger than before, look at the Hero performances from home, the mini reels on Instagram and the chest is there, strong, heavy and dark when she purses her lips. She is approaching her mixed voice differently which is harder. Remember that for Mariah her belt is quite good, maybe a bit dodgy above C5 but she uses mixed there so it's fine. This barely has any chest or belt. This is by choice. Remember I stay in love 2008? Look at the AMAs performance and when she starts the climax her upper chest sounds thinner however towards the end she blasts 2 F5s effortlessly yet everybody thought she had that issue and then in concerts you hear her heavy chest singing Oh Holly night for example or Oh Santa! Both live at the Late night show with James Corden and the version with JHud and Ariana. There is no reason for her voice too change drastically because she has not toured, no residencies no nothing but recording whenever she wanted This more of a style choice in my opinion, there is a clear reverb here, the back up singers are more stripped also, everything is from a core perspective, never forget that Mariah is pretty savvy on how to color a song although her range is notoriously know for being seamless from F2 to Bb6 she has the ability to engage different things and provide texture, rawness or elegance to a note, even her whistles. She is simply singing in mixed voice, a bit more balanced than 2018 and a higher larynx and also notice how she is not modify Ing the vowels as much, her diction becomes impeccable but singing becomes a but harder.also another example is the 2006 Grammy Performance in Fly like a bird her upper chest is heavy but her head voice is very airy (nodules allow her to make airy notes in pitch easily) however the whistles are different, she made the song as to have 3 different types of whistles. A pure ascending arpeggio at the end of the soulng from upper chest to head, to super and to whistle and you barely hear a difference in volume however the mild change in texture provides high dynamics and a wow factor for the end, then in the middle.of the climax she sings a very high whistle, with a very bright vowel Bowever it sounds quite different, metallic powerful and that because she is either using the Thyroid cartilage tilt to provide vibratto to a whistle (I have only heard Mariah do that up there) and the other thing is that she engages her false vocal chords and uses the Arieppiglotic fold (or sfinter) providing that powerful metallic sound that sounds quite disconnected from the main line of the melody. Never too far/Hero whistle towards the end is quite airy and some dumb people where saying that her whistle was terribly weak, when in fact it was so strong that allowed her to play like that, in the net album Chabracelet we get Mariah singing the hardest run in whistle from her repertoire basically when mimicking the main electric guitar line of Bringing on the Heartbreak so that simply and then that same year she does an homage to Stevie Wonder and she texturizes her whistles back into an airy tone so they are not overwhelming and cut the intimate performance she was giving. She is more than a vocalist, songwriter or producer, she is a visionary, her insticts are always right, but media has screwed her over so badly that she is afraid to perform in the Us, watch in Oceania or Europe, it's as if nothing had ever happened. She becomes stiff on stage in the US because if she sings good people say she was lip synching and if she sings bad once that's it she's lost her voice etc and a week later she is her concern live as if nothing happened
For you to have written this epistle just to defend the indefensible is concerning. Mariah Carey has lost the soul and fullness of her voice, even her melisma is compromised, but keep telling yourself otherwise.
Personally I think this sounds so overproduced. Autotune is being used too much, its making her sound slightly robotic. However, much less robotic than the WBT home edition. Still, really nice to hear again, but disappointed she still has never done Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) live (apart from the snippet)

1 - shes wants to sound younger
2 - its what she can do with her current voice, maybe its more comfortable for her to sound thin than full how it was back then

Omg people like to assume but many vocal coaches and singers have already stated that its just a more forward placement when she sings.. anchoring her voice to her nose.. its so she has an easier time going through registers as its easier than running up and down her registers without an anchor.. though when she did that it gave her a more uneven balance but you would get to hear more rich lows and lighter textured highs...
