But since they really can't be realistically, there isn't much of a way to explode diesel.
You know, I get the feeling that in some of these crashes they add on additional elements to boost dramatic (or comic) effect in a way that is more than it would feasibly be in terms of logic. For me, the best one from this compilation has to be the one that comes from The Fugitive - it truly was an iconic crash, all staged in real time and without the effect being over-played just to add excess tension; and the remnants of which, as a lot of people who know about it already realize, can still be found in the exact filming location - it was shot adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountain tourist line using surplus equipment. A train takes a long time to slow down if all it is using is brakes, but if it's fully derailed and the whole thing is sliding on the ground, and hitting things along the way, then it gets ridiculous if it just keeps going for like 2 minutes.

Indeed, but in unstoppable, the train explosion is not actually exaggerated. Fuel cans on trains can be extremely sensitive, and can explode pretty heavily. Also, there is a lot of diesel in that train, and that also explodes. (I am a professional train constructor btw…)

I just noticed this in the Video. at 2:17 the passenger train from Under siege 2 derails before it collides with the tanker train. Very odd to me. However the Transistion from source code to Knowing is pretty well done. Also rip all the Camera's that were hit during the making of these movies

@@southernpennsyrailfan8579 all right. i know its a 3 year old comment but i believe that the movie's name is "wanted". it was filmed on a test train line in Velim, about 30? kilometers from Prague, that crossing where the car is jumping off also exists
