- Hello, everyone! I'm thrilled to share some amazing news with you all from the beautiful Black Forest in Germany. As I was enjoying a stroll around the stunning Triberg Waterfalls and meeting the adorable squirrels, I received an exciting invitation. A one German restaurant has asked me to cook Filipino food for their upcoming "Philippines Week"!

Black forest is so beautiful.❤️ We went there years ago and had black forest cake at the cafe close to the Triberg falls on Main Street. i remember the chef’s advertisement on his cafe window says that he uses the original 1915 black forest cake recipe. The chef was old back then so not sure if he is still around. Anyway, we tried the cake but we were not so impressed. It was a little dry and not so moist.
Would love to go back to the region someday because it’s just so green and clean.

Hi JK! Black Forest reminds me of Tagaytay highlands in the Philippines 🇵🇭 I'm not sure if you have been there? Similar with the structure of houses built and many trees 🌲. Sinigang is a best choice to represent the Philippines 🇵🇭 cuisine. I understand you need to cook 2 dishes? The other one I suggest is Adobo (Pork & Chicken). Wow!!! That’s great that you will be cooking Filipino Food, Jelena. You should also look into these popular Filipino Dishes: Pork Adobo, Beef Kaldereta( Beef Stew with Tomatoes and Potatoes) and Filipino Bifstek. (Beef marinated in soy sauce and lemon with lots of onions) To cook the perfect rice, use the “Finger Technique”. After washing the rice, Put the tip of your middle finger on top of the rice and pour the water until the water reaches the first joint of your middle finger. Works every time! That’s how my mom taught me how to cook the perfect rice.

Tranquil place. If you ever have a chance would be cool to see the nurburg castle especially overlooking the Nurburgring track. I remember my dad taking us there when we were kids. The other castle is Neuschwanstein in Bavaria. Walt Disney modelled, the DIsneyland castle in FL after it. The Marienbrücke bridge view is Magic. Have fun cooking and thanks. I'll take a bowl after your done cooking for the Michelin test.
