    I don't have a Data Analytics Certificate but I do have the UX/UI Designer Professional Certificate and I'm working on the Google Digital Marketing Certificate now. Though I don't think I got my current job because of the certificate but when I earned the UX Designer certificate I kepted on creating projects using what I learned from the course. I think the courses teach you what you need to do and points you in the right direction but you ultimately need to continue doing the work from there.

Getting a job with or without is equal. We prefer self learning and skills what you can show over any education. I’m going through a massive career shift. Going from Education into the Data analytics field is a major change. I had a minor in Marketing and truly found all the mini projects throughout the courses the most enjoyable. Finding, analyzing, and fixing problems were arguably my most enjoyed moments. Thus, this made the most sense when I decided to shift careers. I’m still very nervous about this undertaking and it not working out when it’s all over.
    I just finished Course 2 in less than a month and I’m hoping I’m not rushing it or making the wrong choice.

    The comments on this being a good starting point is true for any type of online learning certificates etc in data analysis. I was lucky to be in an Excel analyst position when I was going through online courses, and was able to transition some of my excel workflows into R. From there I got a new job with programming and SQL as a requirement by talking about my experiences using R. For those that aren’t in a position like I was, just doing some individual projects like mentioned in the video is a great way to signal to employers that you can do the work. I did DataCamp, and I never once mentioned it in any of my interviews, people care about what you can do, and not how you learned it.

    IMPORTANT NOTE to anyone who's looking into starting this certificate - you DO NOT have to pay, you DO NOT have to apply for financial aid, instead, look for the AUDIT this course button (it will be small and hidden), this gives you access to the ENTIRE specialization for FREE! the difference? you can't submit the major tests (it will ask you to pay) but who cares, as you've seen from the video, the final 'stamp' of getting the certificate isn't important, auditing the course gives you access to all of the information: lecture videos, written, exercises, most quizzes.

    I'm currently in the 1st year of my B. Tech, and the stuff i have learnt from these courses is probably way more important and interesting than my entire curriculum. Its not just about getting a job, the stuff you learn from these high quality courses (there are more so check them out too) will help you figure things out. IT is very overwhelming if you are passionate about working on a meaningful project, and even getting to know how basic things work is pretty euphoric. You won't get a job just by doing these, but these are helpful. I got a paid internship (Students in India usually do not get paid internships unless they are from the IITs, its really messed up, and only few students get internships in their 1st year) and the questions asked to me during my interview process were mostly based on my projects, and i could answer them so well only because i knew exactly what i was doing, and these courses played a huge part in this. 100/10 absolutely recommended. Another amazing thing is they usually do not have pre-requisites and if they do, they make it very clear so that students do not feel like they are not smart enough for these courses.

    • @ankita1102
      @ankita1102 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vg1021 Yes ofc you can get a job in India as a data analyst, but i would first ask you to look for related internships, as someone with MSc it will be necessary for you to have some experience. Tbh your English proficiency should not be an issue whatsoever, but maybe focus on that too because companies here might choose someone who is more fluent in English. Take as many courses as you can from coursera (related ones) and maybe also try getting a paid certification from Udacity, because people will generally take you more seriously if you have a profession certification that you paid for (as it would indicate you were serious about the course and not just browsing through the course content because it free). I personally do not know much about the field, so maybe try talking to people on LinkedIn who have a (suitable?) job description related to the domain you want to work in, and that way you will learn a lot about the field. All the best

    All the people that I know that finished this certificate including myself have degrees. This by itself might not get you a job as a data analyst however this is a great start into the field. Even myself with a bachelors in applied mathematics from a top 10 public university plus this certificate and years of coding with Python,, was having problems finding work as a junior data analyst. It is very competitive since people with Masters degrees in a different field and people with job experience related to this field trying to transition to data analytics, are also applying to these jobs.

    Hey Luke. I've got my Google DA certificate a couple weeks ago and I just want to make a point on the R vs. Python discussion. They both can do the same when it comes down to manage data. The main difference is how you have to write each of them. If you have never ever learned any programming language before, Python is intuitive to learn. This is equal to this. Do the following and a colon at the end while R is not like that. You assign with an arrow to either left or right, you have to put variables the other way around sometimes... it's a mess.
    Now, if you come from a different language, you feel like you are learning to program all over again. You have to switch a lot of switches in your brain and that can really hurt your programming skills in the long run.
    To put it more clearly, if you know all other modern programming languages in the world, you will find R very weird so no matter how good is it for data analysis, nobody should be using it for that. It hurts people. R is bad for humanity. Leave it just for weird people like statisticians.

      It potentially could be a good option, but I feel like this is a better start that provides a more holistic approach about the field of data analytics
