CV Data Analysis through OriginLab - Calculation of Specific Capacitance - 17

- Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) is among the various techniques, used to study the electrochemical properties of nanomaterials. Those materials which possess good electrochemical properties are used in supercapacitors and rechargeable batteries. The electrochemical factor which decided whether the material could be used in energy storage devices or not is the specific capacitance. In this video, I have shown a detailed method for the calculation of specific capacitance from CV data through OriginLab software.

Really helpful and significant video. Thanks a lot for uploading such great work. Dear Team Nanoworld! Would you please attach reference of paper describing this method. It’ll further add authenticity to calculations illistrated in this video.
Regards.
ur video is nice but i am facing problem that current at y=axis is in 10exp-7 range and mostly in vidos and reported data it is in 10exp-4 range as is in ur case, m i doing mistake in some conversion or what?

Thank you so much dear. I am still waiting additional videos of Cyclic Voltammetry.
So great Sir. You have strong teaching skill. Your way of presentation can very nice sir thank you so much
Thank you for that great and easy-to-follow procedure, it's very helpful
Great explanation. really helpful. Plz make videos on how to calculate Energy and power density with unit conversion.

Thank you for the content, really useful.
fantastic job, very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Many thanks for uploading. very helpful video
Thankyou so much for sharing.....
Fantastic ... it's a good idea .. keep going ...thanks a lot
Excellent video, go ahead!
Thanks for nice video. Could you show how to calculate Capacitance from charge and discharge curves .
Looking forward to this. especially when you have a battery like discharge curve. Thanks
A.O.A Really good one and nicely explained. But I have an objection. I hope you will try to resolve it. During surface area calculation we should use area within the CV loop , actually you divide the equation by 2 to get that area (area within the CV loop) .But in example solution you have determined that area (within the loop) then you should not divide the equatiuon by 2.
This formula is used for both, i.e. 2 electrodes as well as 3 electrodes electrochemical work station data. In the case of the 2 electrode system, if we considered the electrodes are symmetric (ideally) then we should not divide it by 2 ( we considered it is already divided).
I performed my CV characterization in 3 electrodes electrochemical work station ( As I mention it in my video), that's why I divide it by 2.

this is really helpful! thank you for explain this
Thank you. It is very helpful.
really appreciate your efforts. Could I ask how could you calculate the specific capacitance from three electrode system in GCD and CV. thanks in advance
very helpful thanx
very informative👍
Amazing work

Thank you for the nice video! When calculate the enclosed area, what is the difference between the function of Polygon-absolute area and Integrate-absolute area?
Where can I find the source? journal?
Good evening sir..How can I get specific capacity from cyclic voltametery curve?
Nice video
What does the capacitance during discharge exactly means? Little confused here.. isn't it the device capacitance? Why need to subtract it from charging capacitance to get the device capacitance?
Love all the vids! I do have a question with regard to the final equation. Since the absolute area was used, shouldn't eq (6) be used instead of (10)? Meaning, that the specific capacitance doesnt need to be divided by 2? Thanks!
Good observation. I've explained it in my comment.
@@muhammadadeelasghar3236 Can you explain agian why you did not use equation 6 since the area from origin is already absolute area?
calculate diffusive and capacitive contributions for electrode material can you do video on this
pls tell what is unit of I current
Really helpful and great explanation. But one thing is not clear, in case of 3 electrode system if we consider absolute area from origin software, then the capacitance equation will be A/2mk(v2-v1) or A/mk(v2-v1)? and in given example, final answer 33.89 is correct or it should be 67.78?
thank you
Sir what is the interpretation of the area of the CV curve? I mean if it's large what does it say and vice-versa
How A2 is just negative of A1? A2 magnitude is lesser than A1.

how to find area under a curve with respect to y-axis on Origin?
thanks for tutorial, much helpful.lol

hank you for the nice video! When calculate the enclosed area, what is the difference between the function of Polygon-absolute area and Integrate-absolute area?
Can we get an answer to this question, please? I've been curious about it. They both give different values of area, and I've seen different videos where integrate-absolute area has been used instead of polygon-absolute area, Why is this?
Yes please
Merci bien pour la video. Quel est l'intervalle de Cp qui permet de juger que le matériau étudié peut être utilisé dans le stokage des énergies? Est il possible d'avoir le contenu de cette video sour forme de fichier word ou pdf
How I can get the file pdf , please.
Why it divided by two?
Hi Sir,
Can you please provide that CV data excel file. I just want to plot and calculate the area for discharging time?
If possible please help me with charging and discharging formula on the basis of C&V.
Thanks and regards,
Very helpful video, thanks a lot. I had a question which I hope you'll help me with. Why is the area A2 = (V1 - V2) Cp*m*k at 6:36?
This was for discharching of capacitor.
I wish the music was not that dominant
Please i need this word document quickly😢
i have one query. you have area in (AV), mass in (g), scan rate in (mV/s), potential window in (V) so how do you got capacitance in F/g. I think area should be in (mAV)
Please re-watch this video, and note everything in your note book and then re-think about it.
@@nanoworld6122 yes sir, i got it now, you have converted scan rate into V/s during calculation. Thank you for replying sir.
Don't you think that the unit of scan rate should also be V/s instead of mV/s that you are using while calculating Cp in excel sheet. Since 1 F is equal to 1 A.s/V
I think you did not watch it carefully.
When putting formula, I multiply it with 10^-3. This means I already used V/s for the rate.
Please re-watch
@@nanoworld6122 Ok
I have a doubt, the potential is in Volts not mV such as appear in the original file? and the rate scan in mV?
yes, the potential is in Volts and the scan rate in in mV
ur video is nice but i am facing problem that current at y=axis is in 10exp-7 range and mostly in vidos and reported data it is in 10exp-4 range as is in ur case, m i doing mistake in some conversion or what?

in origin file, potential is in mv range
Hi, I have a question. How ti know the mass of active material

You can measure it through weight balance.
