Adam Ondra came to Spain with two things in his mind; The world's first 9a+ flash on Seleccion Anal, and a second encounter with Chris Sharma's 9b Stoking The Fire. Adam has been training hard for the last two years, and he's keen to see if his impressive competition form translates to the outdoors. Chris, Sasha DiGiulian, and Edu Marin watch on as this next level climber goes to work. Chris wonders what the future will hold for Adam, suggesting that the almost inconceivable grade of 10a could be within his ability.

His drop knees tho... so beautiful yet painful to watch :D
A significant achievement. Whether or not, a goal was achieved in real life, he did not reach a summit that day. Yet, he was able to say "I'll come back". He mentions that goals have to be personal, and I think internally, that meant that the victory is internal too. Thank you for showing this video.
That drop knee at 5:58, awesome.
Best part, "Cool Adam, I got you man." - Sharma. Nothing like hearing your buddy give you the thumbs up to charge!
Nothing like having a climbing legend belay you!
when yo girl says she is at the top of a rocky mountain alone.
Your username is a work of art
Meanwhile me on 6c+ : "graaaahhh"... "arrrrg"... "that hold is tiny are you kidding me? uuuuaaaaAAARGHHH"
wonder when Megos will climb with ondra and/or sharma
Crushing as always
beautiful to watch.
His distinctive ass scream lol
it's kinda awesome, it shows his passion and love through the screams haha
Distinctive ass cream?
More like shrieks.
Im just here for the screams.....
And the climbing.... of course!
1:00 "Dawaj, dawaj. Mocno, trzymaj" We are there with him. POL.
this makes my hands sweat, very inspirational!
get some chalk
get some chalk
christ it looks like it takes so much energy from his body that he really strains himself with every move
Hurts my fingers to look at
How's about a tall glass of f*uck no, you couldn't get me to climb 10 feet up that damn thing lol
Sharma reminds me a lot of Rodney Mullen. Their voices even sound similar.
They're both super chill
sharma smoked so much weed he's borderline brain damaged.
BEAST
And then there is me, who thinks that a 6c is pretty damn hard..
6b/6c/7a is very hard, thats the range of most climbing instructors. Me, being a 6b climer, can tell u that this guy is up there with tommy cadwell, alex honnald and only about 2 others.
ItZAllAI idk if you‘re stupid but Adam is waaay beyond Alex Honnold (or anyone you‘ve named). He is the best to ever climb. Honnold is just known for being crazy, he could never even reach world cup level climbing.
@@randomperson8423 you are the stupid guy here
@@itzallai2397 there are actually over 300 climbers who have climbed 9a
I have closed my first 6C+ route last week. Yes, preatty fucking damn hard :) But climbing is wonderful at any level... if you are novice, close the first 6A gives the same personal satisfaction than close the first 6B, 6C etc. Belive me: i am NOT sport oriented, but if i can reach the 7A, anyone can :)
Dawaj, jedziesz, mocno, dajesz. xD
When he felt down he screamed "pičus" which is the most nasty swear word in CZ language a good comparison would be if he yelled " cunts !"
Esse é dos bons
am i the only one that when he sees an outdoorsy climber he wonders of they all have a strong aroma?
no shirt so air keeps em dry to avoid smells
ondra is so beast
Odd question, but anyone know what brand on hat he's wearing, that crocheted looking beanie? I've been trying to find a good hat like that and I'm coming up empty.
Foreshadowing for silence
Any of you knows where in Spain was this filmed?
"mocnooo" "vengaaa"
Basically Adam falls and then talks vaguely about silence
nice
Could you tell me what is the music beginning at 05:23 ? Really deep flow
did you ever find out....love it.
I'd like to know too. Did you find out?
I am new to this ..Please educate me, if no one has climbed this route previously how come there is a guide up the rock ? Thanks
Derek Pugh what do you mean “a guide up the rocks”?
Adam Ondra is like
Sam the eagle Ondra!!
Can someone explain to me how the ratings work?
imagine spiderman making that noise when he climbs
Question for Climber's- Is Free styling easyer in regards to not having to pull up on Rope as you move up the face??? it just seems like as you get higher the more weight you have to handle? I know from my time in sports that even the slightest weight has its consequences in the long run.
Joshua Long There's bouldering, which is climbing boulders ranging from 10 to 40 ft, sport climbing, which can be from 50 to 100 ft, and free soloing which can be anywhere from 60 to 2000 ft. It's all preference. In this video, he is sport climbing. Dragging up the rope is all part of the challenge.
The rope is all loose and hangs on clips so it’s very little weight
HaHaHa! falling is always surprising... I suppose it would be, thumping as well...
Damascus Steele for me, falling is never a surprise. More the opposite!
Its like free soloing with a rope C:
Man he drops knees as if hes a fickimg spider!!!!
How far do the levels of difficulty go and is the hardest difficulty completely upside down or something???????
Difficulty is dependent on many variables, the moves on the climb, the holds the moves are on, the angle the wall is at, etc. Climbing upside down might tack on some extra difficulty, but if the holds are amazing, the route can still be way easier than something straight up. At the moment I believe that hardest climb is 9b+/5.15c. The 9b+ was set by Adam Ondra and it goes upside down quite a bit. I could be wrong though.
I bet he gets all the chicks with his sick climbing skills
wow.. thats.. painful
bruh what 6:00
I am still wondering why they would Sasha Diguilian over Janja Garnbret. Sasha isn't even at the others level
Brandon Donaldson Janja isn't proven outdoors yet, she's only really burst onto the scene this year, but she's definitely gonna be the next big female climber, she's phenomenal.
What are you talking about, Sasha kills it, she was climbing 9a five years ago outdoors.
*each has been down graded to an extent
She hasn't burst onto the scene this year, she's just dominating every single comp she's been in this year except one or two. It was last year when entered the scene and she earned silver in her first world cup ever, and two more podiums afterwards or something. She's also done 8c or 8c+ outdoors, so there's that.
If these kids aren't climbing 9a or whatever it's because they choose to train for comps instead, but you bet they're capable. Just look at Jacob Schubert or Sachi Ama, whenever competition season is over they just redpoint 9a's and 9b's as if they were trying the routes hundreds of times like some others do
Sasha is hot. There's your answer.
if he wasnt screaming i woulda thought it was easy
what is flash?
Słychać Polaka w tle :)
getting out of jail like^
Christ this sounds painful
Man I love the guy but I just noticed how much he looks like a mcpoyle
whats a flash?
what is a flash?
Alone Biker flash is just first time to my knowledge. The way I've heard it, you just describes on sight
Onsight is first try without information/beta, flash is first try with information/beta; onsight is harder than flash, both are first try. Having quick draws already placed does not take away from anything. It does not change the difficulty of the climb.
New climber here: what is flashing ?
Anibal sending a new route on your first attempt
He failed to flash it then ? He falls around 2 minutes ?
Anibal yup, did not flash it
Spoiler alert
Oh ok, he sucks then...
jk :D
It's actually what I thought flashing was. Maybe I should have listened to the whole video, I'd have understood that he didn't flash it :)
Anyway, thanks mate :)
como fruta madura
a face only a mother could love
7upac your mother love him like that?
haaaaaaa :)
eh decent
Climbing is the hardest sport.... Mentally and physically.
Martin Shotgun Rowing dude
Way off, hardest sport by far is beer pong.
Marshin 72 Did you just say "rowing"? hahahhahah
Brendon Moore hahahaha yesss!!!:p
Nah its miniature table tennis
I bet this guy crushes dice to dust with his hands for fun.
So what makes it a 9a, and the flash? I'm a non climber. I like my feet firmly on the ground.
9a is the grade of the climb based on its difficulty in comparison to other climbs. Flashing a climb is doing it on your first try never touching the rought before.
....maybe coin collecting......less screaming "
sant nirankari baba ji vechar online
What does 9a+ mean? Noobie here
Difficulty
Scream at me darling
How is that a flash? It wasn't first try.
Did Alex Hannold do this free solo?
Alex87 No he doesn't even climb this hard and nobody is even close to free soloing this grade
Eq Climbs thanks, I was just kidding but forgot the winky face. Hopefully no one ever does attempt this stuff ropeless. The risks seem to be infinite
Good climbers eat food?🤔
they eat fried air
Why does he scream?
Kevin Serna it hurts or hes mad..
So, it's all about breath, screaming is exhalation
For OOMPH
Man! Idk if I’m the only one but I hate when I’m trying to send a route and people or my belayer starts screaming at me. Like... SHUT UP PEOPLE!! let the man do what he got there to do.
this guy is inhuman
Giraffe boy
Reincarnated from death by gallows.
Drama queen screaming like that ;)
my boy Alex hannold could do this around you with no ropes or gear!!!!! look up his vids you should team up with him to exchange tips. great climb by the way!
cheechotheman Alex honnold would have a lot of trouble with this route. There is 0 chance he would attempt this without a rope. He is not stupid.
He wouldn’t be able to do it wit ropes
Kinda weird that watching a white person speak their native language is disturbing somehow.
why the fuck is he screaming
elchucofried because he is a beast, dangling by his fingertips.
So, it's all about breath, screaming is exhalation
Why is this girl screaming so much?
sorry the useless whaling was too much...congrats if he made it.
T C it's not useless, it suppresses pain
Google it if you don't believe me
I don't know what is it about these guys that makes them so goddamned dislikeable
Why does this guy have to yell so annoyingly all the time? If he some kind of attention seeker or something?? Lmao.
Bruh it’s to give himself power and strengtH and sHii
Try climbing and ur annoying will be turn to inspire
Probably should learn breathing techniques.. not just yelling and having people yell at you... Also it's incredibly convenient that they all speak English... Viral video attempt.. make it to the top next time..
He is the best in the world lol
your breathing instructors breathing instructor would tell you...you're an idiot.
He said he does it on certain moves either if it’s painful or to make sure he’s breathing out, if he’s screaming he’s 100% sure he’s breathing out, you’re stronger when you breathe out with force
Lmao. Criticizes his breathing but doesn't understand why he screams
I tHink he did this route after and he’s Probly the best climber bro
Weak
Still not as impressive as the French guy who climbed over 100 skyscrapers without any gear or safety anything.
9a means nothing to me. Can we use USA ratings since we freaking invented the sport?
Rock climbing became a de-facto sport in 19th century Europe. Sport climbing exists the world over, you're just ignorant and ethnocentric.
Just learn different grading systems
That screaming is annoying as hell, lost all respect for this dude now
