- We all know how the fairytale ends so now view the weekend through the lens of Coady Photography, the official photography of Churchill Downs and The Kentucky Derby.
Those shots at the very end of the grooms walking Richie back to the barn are PRICELESS. Their expressions of shock and jubilation- alongside that magnificent horse-- brought a tear. Beautiful!

I love this video and your photography is stunning. I used to work at Santa Anita as a groom, hotwalker, then ponier, for awhile. And the nuances you show here about actually working with the horses, that most people never get to see, is awesome. For example the outrider reading the form while waiting on the next race, i love that. I used to joke to my friends that Pete Rose shouldve been in horseracing instead of baseball, because at the track we werent only allowed to bet on our own teams, we were expected to...lol! Thank you, this was a very soothing and lovely 15 minutes of my day. ❤😊🐎

I knew zilch about Thoroughbred racing until I happened across POTUS 45's drone footage post of Derby 148 on social media... didn't know he was right there watching. Have always loved horses, even worked at an Icelandic breeder's farm in MA long ago, but only began watching Thoroughbred racing after he posted this race.
Richie was an inspiration--so is Arcangelo, and they both proved that it's pretty goofy to pay Millions for a horse. 😆These two were $30K and $35K, respectively. If money didn't drive this industry, we would have seen much more of the amazing Flightline, dammit!
