Sid Sriram is a Carnatic musician, an Indian music producer, playback singer, and songwriter. He is an R&B songwriter and has been working in the Tamil and Telugu music industry and also in Kannada and Malayalam film productions. His mother is Latha Sriram, a highly regarded Carnatic music teacher in San Francisco. After his 12th grade, he joined the Berklee College of Music and graduated in Music Production and Engineering. He regularly collaborates with his sister Pallavi Sriram, a Bharatanatyam dancer, and music directors. He got fame with the song "Adiye" sung for the soundtrack of Kadal (2013) composed by A. R. Rahman.

Hats off to you Sid !! You have been very polite to this guy. The interviewer was penalizing Sid hammering him till he wants his particular answer. Making Sid uncomfortable the whole time. He should walk away from such probing questions. No need to answer indecent questions.

I was thinking that Sid is just an expat kid who is very lucky and his range is limited. I now find that he is quite meritorious and in this interview too his replies are very frank, humble and also firm. He is able to make his points quite clearly. Good job done by him

Excellent. Sid has confidence and self confidence in what he is doing. Every person has his own way and style. Having been brought up in West he has come along way in carnatic. Unbelievable. And now his passion to try and sing old tail hits hats off to him. His response to Ullathil Nalla Ullam is perfectly justified from his own....... so also Indtru poi naalai varai. It is not so easy to manage light, carnatic and western. No doubt there is huge female fans for him. But nothing disturbs his focus and concentration. I still remember a girl with her mother came to him till car park after the performance and requested him to sing a song which he politely and gently refused. Unless the music is in his blood he cannot come this long. Let him continue his journey. God Bless Him.

I completely agree with Sid on his viewpoint related to singing other singers songs. No one has the right to prevent others from singing old songs as long as the lyrics are preserved and sung in tune with timing. I also would like to ignore those who compare with the original singers and criticize. To them I tell ‘get a life’.

Interviewer is total waste of time. He tried to put his words in Sid's mouth and wanted him to say what he wanted to hear. Absolute non-sense. Music is Music. How does it matter what genre it is? Interviewer has lot to learn. Sid gave him apt answers. Wonder if he understood any of them. Remember Sid graduated from Berkley! I can go on and on and on. Few questions on music presentation or the performance of his own n also song sung by old singer, he gave the clear cut and straight answers, but not as CThrough . CThrough is not seeing straight, that's why he mentioned "total waste." He is hiding himself and seeing through something else.

What a stupid question about his marriage plans. Sid was the mature one in this interview.
I fully agree with you Sriram. You have rights to sing anyone's song as you like. But without spoiling it's soul. Most of your songs are really beautiful but except one of Sri Sirkazhi's song. Just imagine the battle field, Sri krishna, Arjuna and Karnan. Tears will come if you hear the original. But what about your experiment? No song should be reproduced if it's soul gets spoiled. For example take Mr Sivaji's Gouravam. In that film, Sri TMS's song " Kannaa neeyum nanumaa... " It brings out a father's anger towards his son with lot of emotions. If you sing that song putting all of......... what will happen to that song. The purpose is not to criticize you. No doubt. At present you are one among the carnatic genius and in future you can reach the heights of Sri Jesudos, who never experiment with the special songs if he feels that it won't regenerate the soul. Best of luck for your future.
