Getting out on the street, capturing images and getting the exercise, enjoying the sites and culture is part of the experience. Any good pictures is a bonus most street shots are better when totally unplanned and spur of the moment

Thank you for providing a very concise, detailed, to the point video. You really covered everything a person needs to know to get started, and simplified it so that it isn't scary for someone who is new to this genre.

My favorite tip was “Expectations” because I spent 1 hours out in the field & only managed to get 2 good shots. Sometimes inspiration doesn’t touch me or I can’t find the creative vision when I shoot - so when this happens, I get extremely upset. I began to notice that patten recently then this video popped up confirming what I need to do...”just be okay with it, you went for a nice walk” lmaooo i love that man. thank you

Good one Roman, it’s great advice for anyone starting out.
Anyone reading this who wants to do street photography, just go out and do it, like Roman says, it’s suprising really how nobody takes much notice of you, everyone is to busy with their own lives. Yes if you’re trying to look inconspicuous you’ll end up looking really creepy, just be yourself and act normally and you’ll be fine 📷

Just one thing to add about sharing your work. Just be careful about revealing your personal contact information with anyone who is curious in what you're taking pictures of unless they seem friendly and interested or if there the police or security, then go ahead and show them your work. Even though it's rare but there are times where you might think its a good idea to share someone your work but then that same person goes on the internet and causes all sorts of unnecessary hate and allegations on your social media account thus ruining your reputation. I know it's rare but there are times it could happen just be careful and good luck. Good video!

Unbelievable advice for those starting out or given how the world’s changed in the last number of years those restarting into the genre. My favourite piece of advice you gave was at the beginning. Ignore people who think they know everything. Photography as a hobby should be fun and you don’t need some high brow wank who thinks he knows everything taking pot shots at you so they can feel superior or better about themselves. Now I’m not saying don’t take helpful critiques from someone who’s been doing things longer and are noticeably better because that can really help you grow, it’s the idiots you need to stay away from. Again every tip is super advice. I love how all your videos cover reality and steers clear of cliche and hype. Cheers, Christopher :)

Encouraging, as ever Roman and another very enjoyable video mate. You're content is ticking all the right boxes with me bud and you are so right about discouraging comments and negative feedback from all sorts on the internet. Everyone likes some praise and very many people out there can react so badly to criticism. Gentle persuasion, positive encouragement and a wee bit of praise pays dividends. I would rather go out and take no pictures and enjoy my day, taking in the location, rather than take photos of everyone and everything and face the internet trolls. Well done again bud, keep them coming.

As ever, great vid Roman thankyou. . Spot on about not expecting great shots every time you go out. After the first few times out I almost gave up because of repeatedly coming home empty handed with sore feet and knees. Also thanks to the myriad of YT channels its easy to get obsessed with gear but the best advice I had on that was always remember even the most basic modern camera is easily capable of all the great shots you will see in iconic photography books.

First off, I enjoyed the video and subscribed. Thank you. Regarding your comments on "good" photos, that's somewhat subjective! I bet if Daido Moriyama had asked for appraisals early days, he might have become disillusioned and packed it in!! Aside from taking "good" photos, one thing I've found is just how beneficial street photography is for mental health. Personally, I combine going out on my mountain bike (any bike will do!), riding through city centre areas, taking photos on the way with my GRII.

Florida never had a real heavy handed martial law, most still worked and everyone could move about, but I’ve just lost my mojo on the streets. It’s such a different vibe with people now and I’m having a hard time finding my new place in it to enjoy it once again. And to think after the wife and I went through surviving a mass shooter in 2019 we thought 2020 could only get better, lol!

Story 1: I once went to a cemetery in my city (for the architecture and the aesthetic, perhaps it's a bit morbid, but the place is beautiful and full of nature and gorgeous), I was stopped by a staff member and he told me that I couldn't take photos that I needed a permit and why was I even taking photos anyway. So I put my camera in my bad and told him what I was there for, and where I could ask for the permit. The guy 360 on the you can't take photos here and just told me that I shouldn't waste my time looking for the permit, that I just needed to not swing my camera in front of some security guy or anything and that I'd be good.
I plan on going there again and I'll try to get a permit next time 😅. But people usually are super supportive of people creating art!
Story 2: Once I was taking photos through some architecture/sculpture thing of two guys and the guy apparently saw me taking the photo and flipped me off, I didn't notice on the time but I immediately saw the finger when I reviewed the image, so when I walked a bit closer I asked the guy if he'd rather me delete the photo and he said neh, dw.
Half an hour later I walked through the same park but this time closer to the guy and he recognized me from earlier and asked me how the image had came out. I showed him from the back of the camera and he told me he had absolutely no idea why he flipped me off but that he was super supportive of people going around the city creating art. I told him that if anything him flipping me off enhanced the image because it served as a point of interest and that was super cool. So the guy was super nice and he genuinely didn't seem to care about me taking the photo but actually he supported me on it.

also a tip don't photograph people who work at a train station because I was taking pictures at the train station which is not elegal and three people who work there were like ' what are you doing?' 'ARE YOU TAKING PICTURES OF ME?!' which I thought was weird because its a public space. I just showed them the pictures and told them I was only going to use them for school but they were ugly anyway so I deleted the photo's. and to one I told that I was taking a picture of the view. but he demanded to see the picture and almost slapped my camera out of my hand so I just left and told him that I deleted the picture

by the way, you recommend the X-T2 or X-T3, but the X-T1 represents awesome value too. You only miss out on dual cards slots, the AF is still quite good and you can get them for dirt cheap (got mine for less than 300€)
X-T1 also is the last (besides the X-70) camera to use the X-Trans 2 sensor, which gives very special colors, and with no AA filter you still get incredibly sharp images. Basically the same thing as the X Trans 1 sensor you can find in the X-Pro 1, but with way better AF and other features

Or basically, how not to get robbed? LOL A bit of a silly question I know. But when you have very expensive gear in your hands while being all alone in an ally or around the city in the middle of the night, it's one thing that kind of prevents me from going out there and shooting...
