I enjoy watching Coi's videos, but I dont really get the "Restoration" bit, nothing is truly restored, it is just stripped cleaned repainted and put back together. In fact the engine has probably got far more harmful debris, water and rust in it now than before she stripped it. No oil seals are replaced, no bearings or bushings replaced, just a few gaskets. The forks should have their seals rebuilt as with the rear shocks, swing arm bushes should be replaced, brightwork stripped and rechromed, etc. etc. then it would be a restoration. But hey Ho I enjoy watching the videos just for Coi and her attitude towards hard work Keep it up❤
I guess the standards over there are much lower than we have, I mean a running motor which may be worn and not perfect will do the same job as one that is. I would say anything that is totally worn out might be replaced. Plus money I would think is tight there, farmers there are poor, not rich like our farmers. I think it's testament to how tough these chinese motors are. Looks like they never get oil changed or added, every bolt loose or incorrect, yet they still run well. I think the western world could learn a lot, and learn to not be so fussy and want the newest of everything. The young lady seems capable of repairing anything to a running stage..and that is all they want I think. Maybe a small torque wrench would be a good thing though. I'm married to an asian lady, and although they are beautiful, feminine, and appear maybe submissive, they are tough women, and a force to be reckoned with if you are silly enough to anger them. I have total respect for asian women.. they can do anything!
Yes i was surprised when no oil seals were replaced and rusty clutch basket etc went back in, but that's the way they do it there i see, a wash and paint up as in other mechanical channels from Asia to i have seen,
I agree about the restoration comment although it looks like the big end and crank had roller bearings which were probably ok and I guess the owner didn't want the headlight put on. I also find it strange that no paintwork is primed which would give a much better and longer lasting finish but I would also add that these machines are all about being able to do a job of work, not to be attratctive. However it makes good viewing and they may also give others the confidence to do similar jobs on their own machines when you see what can be done with a limited selection of tools. Buy a workshop manual, watch YT videos and off you go.🙂
