I grew up Baptist (now non-denominational) when preachers would stop musicians who tried playing to accompany their preaching. They would said the Word of God alone will quicken the Holy Spirit . They would preach and The Holy Spirit would manifest and break out in the congregation without any musicians backing the preacher. That is why Baptist preachers and preachers out of the Baptist church are the best preachers. They allow the power of the Word to do its work. The Word needs no help...the musicians backing The Word takes away from the power of the Word and puts the focus on a beat. I bet if you asked this congregation what her text and Message was they could not tell you, because the beat and rhythm took over the Word. Ugh!.
Name a preaching COGIC PASTOR. I'll put a Baptist preacher against a Pentecostal preacher any day and I attend a COGIC church pastored by one member of the Board. Baptist Frederick Haynes Jr, Jamal Byrant, Calvin Butts III, the lates Martin Luther King Jr, C.L. Franklin, Caesar Clark, C.J. Anderson, just to name a few. No musical assistance needed or wanted.
