This was a very good episode and funny! I'm 72 and watched That Girl in high school but can't remember 3/4ths of the plots! It's as if I am watching a new sitcom and am enjoying after all these years!! That Buzzy was a jerk!
This episode is relevant to today's online dating world. United States dating sites are plagued with people who misrepresent themselves in order to scam people. Thought this episode was interesting. Donald seemed pretty liberal to continue dating Ann Marie even while she agreed to date a guy who she thought was wealthy despite Donald's protests. Btw, loved her own purple furry coat at the beginning of the episode. Thought it looked better than the chinchilla.
Buzzy Kavanaugh was played by Quinn Redecker. He played Mary Tyler Moore's brother in the wonderful movie "Ordinary People." He is also a sometime screenwriter.
I always thought they should of had her dating (or mingle) with various guys before bringing Donald on permanently. Mixed him off, on for a season then do the format as we know it.
I always found that the show only worked when Ted Bessel was in the episodes. I hate to admit it but Marlo Thomas really couldn't carry the show on her own. She needed Ted to bounce things off of.
@@nicholasjanke3476 Absolutely agree but one scenario; him as "the shoulder" when she gets (name it) and needs "the shoulder". Say maybe...6-10 episodes. Split end of 1st and beginning of 2nd season.
So I wondered about the railroad track footage at the beginning---obviously the Pennsylvania RR (now the Northeast Corridor). Why is the train on the wrong track? (Usually the left is going away from NY). The NJ Turnpike spur is on the right of the picture and... the cars are going the WRONG direction. This footage was taken from the rear of a train leaving NY and we're watching it backward! Someone else has commented "If she's from Brewster why is she riding in from NJ on the Penn?" Aside from these 30 seconds the rest of the show is all shot in LA anyway....
I love this series and watch all of them. But I was sorry to see the episode with a photographer. There was no plot; it was repetitive and tedious. Worse still, it was continued for a second episode! With relief, the series returned to enjoyable and beautiful fun.
thank you for correcting, that person, i Love MARLO THOMAS, i was lucky enough to meet Marlo Thomas when she came to Chicago at Borders Bookstore, for St Jude, Marlo was beautiful, she signed. my book.😊
I remember watching this as a kid, and laughed so hard when Ann walked around “MINGLE-MINGLE”. “HE A MINGLE, THERE A MINGLE…”
Love the mingle mingle scene. I laughed my fool head off!
So that's how you mingle. I always wondered :)

Marlo won many awards for That Girl
Don's tuxedo is so gorgeous. He was delicious-looking.
"Anyone can rent a tux, you know."
----Joe Warner, as played by Ted Bessell, on the Mary Tyler Moore Show.
@@randilevson9547 I remember those episodes. Lol.

(It just took two decades from this show for that shift to happen.)
Fun seeing daily up phones again. Amazing life before cells.,,a simpler time
Wow..we've come a long way baby
Buzzy - played on Y&R!!!!
These two have been dating for 5 years and still don't spend the night in each other's apartments. Are we supposed to believe that?! LOL
Yes. There was a stigma at one time attached to women who jumped into the sack with every person who bought them a cup of tea.
So cute in tgat very retro red get up at opening

I noticed that too...maybe this is the negative of the original footage
The film is indeed reversed. And yes no one from Brewster would enter NY this way.

Buzzy was super creepy.
I hated that he scammed Ann out of $20.
Marlo Thomas… NOT Margo Thomas
Another episode that shows that Don and Ann don't have a totally realistic romance.
Margo Thomas was underrated.
Yes but Marlo Thomas was very acclaimed.
How dare you ! Her name is Marlo! Nor Margo!
And she was never underrated. Her TV show was top rated.
Actually, her name is Margaret and her family called her Margo for short. She couldn't pronounce it, only as Marlo. It stuck.
