    I don't understand why people use words like "minority ethnic" or "minority group" or "locals" to describe natives. Factually, Miao and most other ethnic people are natives of China. I don't mean to get all sensitive, but in the US, we don't call the Chumashs and Cherokees "minority ethnic." We call them native Americans.

    • @user-rf2rd4mt1t
      @user-rf2rd4mt1t 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the reason is that Native American spend thousands of years longer than later immigrants, so they are quite “native”. While for China, different groups all have long history living on the Chinese territory thus no group is more native than another. Moreover, according to ancients tales, Miao Chinese initially lived in Central China. They fled to southern China because of the war of zhuolu (涿鹿之战). So they are not that native here. Miao Chinese have a lot of tales and heart-touching songs about their history of being refugees.

      @@user-rf2rd4mt1t Ok, so are Han Chinese considered ethnic minorities in XinJiang? Are Japanese, Europeans, Americans, Russians and Koreans living in China considered ethnic minorities in China as well? I think not. I think the word "minority" needs more clarification. Sounds to me, it is only used to describe the impoverished.

    ..sadly its now Miao Disneyland, every thing is laid on for the tourist, evena corny Han pop group.... and a carbon copy of the original charm of the place--all instigated by the Han Chinese government....another cultural tragedy.
