  • The name Folorunsho Alakija is certainly not strange to many Nigerians and most Africans. At the age of 70, she has achieved a feat that will always be the gold standard among women across the globe. The renowned oil, fashion, printing, and real estate mogul is the richest woman in Africa, boasting a net worth of 1 billion Naira as of 2020. Interestingly, Alakija is not only leading the pack in business but also in fashion. She is undoubtedly one of the most fashionable high society women in Nigeria who is also known for her impeccable style for hair extensions and jewellery.
Sadly, she can’t rock these things anymore, and many have been wondering why she appeared in her pictures plain with minimal makeup, zero gold jewellery, nail extension and hair wigs.
Well, Alakija finally opened up on why she stopped wearing gold and expensive jewellery in November of 2021, during the Amazing Grace Pentecostal Church 25th anniversary. She talked about how it was not her will but the will of God that she stopped wearing these worldly ornaments. And she got this conviction through a strange event that almost caused her to lose her earlobes. Apostle Alakija, as she is now known, has never hidden her relationship with God. However, these new revelations on how God forced her to stop wearing jewellery has got many curious about her walk with God and how it all started.

Different churches and different people's interpretations of God tend to be different. I believe what I want to believe. Religion has people ignorant sometimes and unrealistic about life. Preachers brainwash people with their beliefs and they all tell you different interpretations of the bible. After a while we change as we get older and wiser. People are moved by their egos. Some people eventually realize what is necessary and what is unnecessary. Our values also are responsible for our way of thinking. The only question I always ask is since some people know what God thinks or does not, have you ever met him personally so that is why you are so forceful with your beliefs. This lady has reached the top of the mountain and achieved her goals so she can now live a more peaceful life. There is nothing more to prove.

Well God is not against jewelry, but if one's love for jewelry is more than the love for God, is possible for Him to stop the one. Remember God is a JEALOUS GOD. Is all about the state of the HEART, and one asking God to take her/his will.

Anything we love more that God is idol worshiping be it Jewelry or not.
In this case they lied to her.
They should have preached a simple message of don’t idolize anything no matter what.
Now she stopped and still didn’t understand why because she is idolizing the man of God.

You are absolutely correct! She has lived a full and prosperous life and now values the more simpler things and ways of life. The problem is that it seems she is preaching that others should follow, at least what I'm picking from this video. That is misleading. Nigerians are quite gullible and as long as you say the name of their revered higher power and its messenger(s), they lose their shit and obey without question, even at their detriment.

Then God would have told her to moderate, isn't it? All you have to do Is pray and ask God
      Exodus 33:4-6 KJV
And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments. [5] For the Lord had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee. [6] And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.
      Jeremiah 4:22 KJV
For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
      Jeremiah 4:30 KJV
And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
      Genesis 35:2,4-5 KJV
Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: [4] And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem. [5] And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
      Matthew 5:17-19 KJV
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. [18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. [19] Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

@@jesusholds These are personal judgement on the children of Israel when issues arose.
The Bible also spoke of the beauty of a woman decked in ornaments.
Take a look at these scriptures, they do not portray jewelries in negative light.
      Ezekiel 16:11-12
I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your hands and a necklace around your neck. I also put a ring in your nostril, earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head.
      Genesis 24:53
The servant brought out articles of silver and articles of gold, and garments, and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave precious things to her brother and to her mother.
      Jeremiah 2:32
“Can a virgin forget her ornaments,
      Or a bride her attire?
Yet My people have forgotten Me
      Days without number
      Exodus 3:22
But every woman shall ask of her neighbor and the woman who lives in her house, articles of silver and articles of gold, and clothing; and you will put them on your sons and daughters. Thus you will plunder the Egyptians.”
      Song of Solomon 1:10
“Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments,
Your neck with strings of beads.”
You see jewelries are not necessarily a bad thing. What counts is God's personal dealings with you, your convinctions.

The Bible says woman must dress in modest apparel, let it not be the outward adorning of planting the hair and of wearing of gold and or of putting on of apparel.
How she usually dresses it would draw attention to her and God don't want that. Sometimes those things become their idols/gods.

The same black people screaming black lives matter are not even proud being black. They ve changed their looks 2 that of a white woman, wearing white woman's hair and blenched their skin 2 look white and are busying carrying placards of BLM. Can a white woman spend her dollars buying African hair??? It is d blacks that has made them 2 look superior by changing their natural identities 2 that of a white woman. But our African men are still upholding their nature and we still love them like that, even the white women are running after our black men now. DEAR BLACK WOMEN, YOU DO NOT NEED ANYTHING EXTRA, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL THE WAY YOU ARE. Embrace urself and love urself. All these worldly things keep changing, are u a chameleon 2 keep changing with them in d name of fashion???? The fashion of 2day that u are dying 2 follow will be outdated tomorrow, why not stick 2 ur own nature & be proud

One thing ladies should understand is that if God frowns at something and personally encountered a man or woman to further establish His mind about it,it showed such an individual is chosen of God.As a matter of fact, the entire human race will appear before God in our spiritual bodies not the mortal flesh. And of the works in the flesh will be judged in Spirit,we all have every reason to ensure that we appear before him as we've been created naturally .Secondly,God considers all the jewelries as belonging to the things of the World.God decided to stop further journey with Israelites becos of adornments until Moses intervened in Exodus 33 vs 1-6.God himself was distraught becos of the danger ornament seek to create while walking with God.Most people that use Ornaments hardly ever do without them.Jeremiah 4:30 expressly abhors the use of Make Ups and Ornaments.
If you are truly a child of God,I would advise that we seek His face as touching some of these things that appear questionable, so that at the last day,,we could stand boldly before Him in love.

All I can say is this, just like when Mary told the disciples, that whatever he tells you to do do. John 2:5. All you need to do is to be sure. Your maker is your manufacturer, he knows everything you don't know about yourself. He knew you even before you were formed in your mother's womb. It does not matter how others view you. Obey your maker. Jesus Christ came to the world to teach us obedience. Disobedience has consequences. If you still don't know God, draw near to Hom through Jesus and you will be so suprised that you who couldn't even differentiate His voice from yours and that of the enemy can now understand Him clearly.

I just found out that i'm 32% Nigerian The clothes, hair were only beauty enhancers. She is still beautiful without the hair, jewelry and beauty products. May God continue to bless her and her ministry. Maybe her parishioners stumbled because of her opulence. Thank you sister for your sacrifice. Maybe one day all women will have sufficient money to help others and all can where the beautiful adornments and not be envious of others. Since God says woman should cover their hair, is it extremely costly for the different head dresses she use to wear? With those beautiful headdresses I think a lot of woman would definitely prefer to wear them instead of weaves and wigs. Instead of real gold, pearls and such can she make artifical, less expensive replicas that are of good quality affordable for all? God created everything we have on this planet. So God intended for us to have them as long as we do not worship them. Again, I do wish that all women feel beautiful and have enough money to live in a nice home and have abundance for their families. We come from Queens and Kings afterall. Here in American they tell us that black people are less than nor equal to whites. Our people need to feel beautiful and develop their self esteem. Maybe what is considered expensive there for her type of clothing would be comparable to what we spend on clothing here in America. This might be a way to employ black people here who could make the clothing here in America. Or maybe you could teach your parishioners how to make the clothing then ship to America so that a new industry could be created that would be mutually beneficial for both countries. Our black people spend a lot of money on wigs, hair care products and the Asian population controls that industry. So why should be have to continue to make them wealthy when we could keep our money within the black community. I hope some one reads my comments and reach out to me to discuss this. My email is
    kcmpch4@gmail.com. thank you.

Repent and stop making all kinds of excuses. God deals with the heart. Whether you are poor or rich is irrelevant. Honor God by repenting daily.

God doesn’t have issues with jewelry and adornments...He only has issues with anything you start to exult or make a God above Him. He’s clear on that position!

I believe that the most High didn’t want us to be superficial. And that her personal relational was at the point where this took away grim her true destiny.
I think all of us can take a lead from this.. what are we willing to give up to go to the next level!!! For our destiny!!!! She is beautiful and I see nothing taken away.. only greater blessing and power because she was obedient 🙏🏾✨

The bible make us to Know that Abraham was very rich in cattles, silver, and gold.(Genesis 13:2). (Job 22:24) Then shall thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of brooks. God was instructing his people to do away from sin and turn to him, in the same (Job22:23) then they will have these things. If gold, and silver is sin then money is also sin, for without money how can you acquire gold and silver.
