Next time, just disconnect the regulator wire on the alternator. That will remove the excitation and unload it from the accessory drive without actually having to disconnect anything. As long as one of the pulleys aren’t locked up on the accessory drive, that will tell you if you have a bad diode inside the alternator’s rectifier. Another trick is to use a voltmeter in VAC mode. If you get any significant reading, it’s a bad diode. Also check in VDC mode; if voltage is above 14.7V, the regulator is shot and will load the accessory drive pretty hard. How big were the gaps on those plugs? I keep a new coil/ICM on hand exactly for situations like these. Both are wear items. I only use Delco replacements. They’re expensive for a reason.
@@otgmechanic any ideas how the gap closed up? How old were the plugs? So maybe the alternator load was making it harder for the car to run with the plugs like that?
Glad you figured it out, cant wait to see episode 2 :)

I figured out the issue. Had nothing to do with the alternator. Posting another video soon.
Gap was .30

@@joelbanyai8224 im not sure. But once it changed the plugs nothing changed. Ill explain in the next video
Got a 94 caprice when changing the rear springs do I just use coil overs or new coil springs
Or both ??
Broken wire inside insulation on the mass air connector
I think the fix was a burned MAF fuse 😶
👍🏿💯
Best car you got!!
