I'm a Barcelona fan, I believe (the news) this guy played well in his previous team. I think it was a small English team playing the English way. This guy should go back to his roots and English football roots. Long balls, physicality, air balls. They are trying to make him play in a way that it is not in his DNA.
Have you seen how he dribbles. I think a 10 year old can dribble better than him. He is not comfortable on the ball. He is slow to react and position sense is awful. He often gives wrong passes in danger areas specially if you press him. I do believe in small teams his mistakes were overlooked or covered by others. People dont analyze a lot on small teams.
@@nohandler1493 Despite all that, Maguire did do a good job in defensively minded teams where his job was to play very deep and use his physicality and his aerial ability. The lack of pace didn't matter so much given he was so close to his own goal. He even did well in his first season at United where United played deep, attacking on the counter. Since then he has been asked to try play on the half way line where all his weaknesses (lack of pace, inability to read the game, clear discomfort on the ball, propensity to panic) are magnified and his strengths are minimised. And his confidence is completely shot at this point.
He is just another example of the chaotic recruitment policy at United where they buy players seemingly at random with no consideration for how they will work in the team. He desperately needs to move on to a counter attacking team that only needs him to play to his strengths so he can rebuild his career and confidence. United wont get anything like what they paid for him, but at least it draws a line under this mess.

He answered, I must be doing something right otherwise my coach would not pick me up in team. He does not know how to reflect on his mistakes. Because he is not professional footballer.
