Great video. Thanks. I noticed you continue to reel when the fish is taking drag and when you are not gaining on him. That creates real twist in your line. Suggest you don’t reel at those times. Also try chicken thigh chunks marinated in strawberry jello for bait. And if it is legal where you are put a couple drops of liquid anise (the food flavoring near the vanilla in the grocery store) on your bait. It gives off a sheen in the water and really draws them to your bait.

It was across the street from a restaurant called Majors Brothers, but I think Majors Bros is now a Mexican restaurant called Chalios. I had fun playing in the hills back then. I had a huge boxer dog that followed me everywhere. He was 113lbs and 27in at his shoulder, a freak for a boxer, anyways one of his favorite things to do was to follow me out into the hills and chase and fight coyotes, while I shot at things with my bb gun, lol... In Kettleman, we used to go drop a little 2 man boat in that little river off the 41 near Stratford. When we fished the aqueduct, we went out by Huron by the old motocross track. Good memories!!! Those were the days!
I’ve been trying to hook up on my first cat for like 3 months now grinding multiple times per week but I keep getting skunked I’m definitely gonna get some sardines and try the aqueduct. Nice video!

Love the vid! Although I’d suggest you try out some OWNER circle hooks if you’re going to leave your rods in the rod holders, although catfish bite aggressively they too don’t hold onto baits for more than a couple of seconds so it’ll be a good way for you to lose less fish in the future

To be honest I live in palmdale the aqueduct in Bakersfield is more active with fish period so I really don't think it has much to do with how you fish it there is no special way Palmdale is in a drought with the fish

X2- I was thinking the same thing. When the fish is pulling drag, reeling does nothing until the fish stops fighting.

I had a blast catching carp that were 30 to 35 pound on bobber and corn. They spooled me so many times.
You gotta use your rod to gain line instead of the constant reeling with no gain. Your line is getting twists the more you do that.

You can use pretty big hooks for catfish but I’d suggest a 1/0 circle hook

Catfish is easy you can leave slack in the line they eat the whole bait anyways so the moment you set the hook it’s usually in their gut
