Tommy Wonder - Zombie - Instructional Video

  • Back in 1996, my brother Tommy Wonder produced and sold a modified version of the Zombie ball. Making those balls was a real nightmare, but that inside information was left out of this instructional VHS tape... Enjoy!!
    BTW, don't bother to argue with me about the rights of this video or the fact that it has been made public. My brother LOVED TO SHARE everything he knew about magic. This is not spoiling secrets with the audience, it is only about sharing some thoughts with magicians. If you don't understand that, you are plain stupid and the world can do without your comments. If you are still upset, calculate how many percentage of your audience has seen this video. Do the math. Ask yourself why my brother made this video in the first place. You are doing more damage to magic by sitting on your ass complaining, while you could be practicing and improving your skills.
    So, all complaints will be removed. I know EXACTLY what my brother wanted. And I act accordingly. That is a promise I made.

    Sir, your brother was and still is an inspiration to many magicians. His super-slick patter, his beautifully structured presentation and his unique way of engaging the audience is what inspired me to become a better magician. His material is nothing short of genius and his Ambitious Card routine is for me the definitive version which has never been outdone. Thank you for sharing this.

    Beautiful psychology of WHY magic works, NOT just how! The organic movement of Tommy's ball, was light years ahead of the traditional Zombie. This only came from microscopic observation of movement, AND understanding that movement. Sadly lacking in 'most' magic today!

    Thanks Frank! I enjoyed and learned a lot from the Books of Wonder. Your brother was a great thinker. You are correct that practically no one is going to watch a 22 minute instructional video on something they are not even considering performing. Mo

    When seeing the Zombie advertised on the back of comic books I used to wonder how incredible it was. Since I was a child I could not mail order one. Later in life, when I saw the effect performed I did not even recognize it. It was not amazing at all. It was blatantly obvious what was going on. As a matter of fact nearly every presentation I have ever seen has been fairly awful. I certainly have not ever considered trying to learn and perform it myself.
    Watching this video has brought back the amazement and wonder that I experienced reading about it as a child. This is how it should look! When he picked up the cloth and I saw the ball I immediately knew what was about to happen... but I began to doubt the method as I watched the performance. As presented by Tommy Wonder here, this is truly a magical presentation.
    Having watched this, I know what kind of practice I would need to put in to learn the effect and it has left me with a desire to obtain (or construct) this apparatus and actually present it.
    Thank you for making this available for public viewing.

      " I certainly have not ever considered trying to learn and perform it myself." then , don´t talk. It´s not easy. One thing is watch it and other one, very diferent try to do it masterfully. Ii seem easy, but is not. But even so, I let you this link. It´s a zombie ball but ...naked. th-cam.com/video/7pTAuDMjk1I/w-d-xo.html

    Tommy Wonder was truly one of the greatest Magicians to ever live! If you watch all of his effects, you'll notice the passion and thought that he puts into each and every trick he ever performed, that is the sign of a Master .... he will never be equaled. Thank you for sharing....

      "takes money away from his family", Frank who uploaded it is his family! Get this in your head! For me this video shows Tommy wonders genius way of thinking!!! Teller once said: "If the methode is better than the trick then reveal the methode". It is a good trick, no doub, but Tommys methode is the real beauty!

    Magic is about entertainment. The fact that that people took the time to make these props to entertain other people is, in and of itself, an art. To come up with a design that is both convincing and entertaining is not easy. It takes a lot of thought, effort, and determination. I would argue that the process of making magical props is actually harder than performing with them.

    Thank you so much Frank - there was a "mechanical" sound when Tommy played with the controlling metal-insert, is that the same for you, or is this some noise on the video? Yes, magicians and hobbyists are keenly focused on performance and skill-development - even in a live audience there are those who _see_ the gimmicks, the misdirections etc. & we have the same here, Frank - so it's with great appreciation that, in fact, you are keeping Magic honed through your offerings. Cheers!

    Let's rub it even more. If you think this video is about the floating zombie - you got it all wrong. This video is about showing there are always more angles to a situation than you would first see and agree upon. It's all about the fact that there is always room for improvement. That you should never consider a trick or act is finished. THAT is the message.

    • @MrBongers
      @MrBongers 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@fushionhomecook287 You should ask this question: If Tommy Wonder really intended to "share" this information with anyone , why is it he did not release this video to the general public during his lifetime ? (if as Frank claims, the point of this video was to demonstrate there is always room for improvement and that you should never consider a trick or act finished. While that is true, that does not mean at all that Tommy Wonder intended this instructional video to be released to the public.)
      Tommy Wonder's original purchase agreement and the warning printed on the video tape stated clearly that this instructional video was not to be shared or copied, but was for the use of the purchaser only. Tommy generously shared his ideas with _other magicians_ (not for free, but in paid lectures or for sale in books) not with the general public on a forum such as TH-cam. This is a fact.

      @@MrBongers Thank you for your observations. There were times that my brother simply had to make a living and indeed sold his tricks with copyrighted instructions. Since he doesn't need that income anymore, it is all yours and ours. There is some material of which the rights have been sold, which I won't share of course.

    In the middle ages, after the routine: "Seize him! Son of Satan! Conjurer of demons!" you try "Let me explain, there is this gimmick..." but they "Not another word, Son of Satan! You poison us with your unholy words! Take his head!"

    And let's rub it for the 3rd time. Apperently, some can not do the math and are not able to figure out how many percent of their audience may have seen this shocking video.
    1) We have a world population of 7.400.000.000 people.
    2) 40% has internet -> 2.960.000.000 people
    3) 20.000 views, of which - I guess - 10.000 are magicians and 10.000 others
    4) (10.000 / 2.960.000.000) * 100% = 0.00037175 percent!!
    5) Wow, 0.00037175 percent!!
    6) Assuming your audience (in your dreams, in your dreams) is 300.000 persons...
    7) Yes, ONE person in your audience of 300.000 may have seen & remember the contents of this video
    8) Still 299.999 persons that have not seen this video.
    I honestly believe that 299.999 uninformed out of 300.000 is not that bad. I promise I will take the video offline once the number of views has reached 74.000.000
    Best wishes,
    Frank
