The only reason I listen to this song is when Sohyang sings it. I typically find YouRMU to be slow and tedious. This one is the quintessential epitome of what an arrangement can do, transcending the realm of a mere song to become a true work of art. It's a performance that could only have been achieved by someone with Sohyang's extraordinary talent. Even now, she might admit to needing practice to recreate this performance, which makes it all the more astonishing to know that she was critically ill with pneumonia when she performed it.

In my opinion you can't compare the both of them. It's a matter of tast of course. In So Hyang's version is too much going on for my liking. I can't exactly discribe exactly what I mean, because English is not my first language. The beginning was beautiful. In the middle part you hardly can recognise the song. And there are too much of this typical american runs I don't like.
Dimash is singing with kids in this show. He never tries to outshine his partners, especially not when it comes to children. He always holds back and lets them shine. It is a Kazakh tradition that adults always support children in what they do and never compete with them.
Both versions are beautiful. Depending on whether you like these runs or whether you want to hear the song as it was originally written. Both have their place. But I prefer Dimash's version in all respects, even if he couldn't show what he can do. And I love his dark voice more than anything.

The entire point of Immortal Songs (the show Sohyang is singing on) is to rearrange the given song. If it sounded like the original she would have failed to rearrange it. She has sung it many times the normal way however so that is available to listen to.

I consider Sohyang to be one of the technically best singers.
But to me Dimash is THE best. 🥰
And this comparison makes me realize why.
Dimash held so much back. He gave maybe 1% of what he is capable of and it fit the (shortened) song perfectly. Even though he held that much back, the pacing was perfect and he still managed to be crazy dynamic in his delivery. Wow!
I can’t stop listening to Dimash singing this, even though I never liked the song before. 😳🤩
Sohyang‘s pacing - to me - was off. The start was too slow. Then there was a beautiful transition that was just wonderful, but she lost me again with the constant riffs. 😔
This arrangement had nothing to do with the meaning of the song. The riffs and runs, although executed perfectly, were there for no good reason at all. And too much action gets boring very fast. 😅
She is such a good singer, and she would be even better if she held back a little more. Just because you can give 100% doesn’t mean that you should. 😢
Maybe her newer songs are different. I don’t know, since I can’t listen to her because of this one reason (too much riffing).
But I wish her all the best for her career. She clearly worked hard at her skills to be this accomplished. ❤
Dimash the King of vokal.
What Dimash did in this song was impressive: He gave the kids the spotlight! He let them open the song, accommodated themselves to their limitations, led them, played a measured solo, prepared a "bed" for the children to shine and finished by tucking them in! There may be more beautiful, more technical, more touching versions... But no one can dispute that this version warms our hearts and souls through its simplicity and commitment to little ones!

How is Dimash "an artist of a single genre"? If you know his repertoire you'll know that he covers all the genres - from rap to classic opera. You say he's "a pure soprano", but music professionals says he's a baritone, a tenor, even a bass. Please, when you pick up a singer and want us to know your reasons for that, make sure you point to the right ones. And in the last sentence I think you mean "her" and not "his" as it's read in English, since you start the sentence with SO Hayng.

Dimash's range of support is wider, she is more agile, her passages are smoother, her breath support is better, her operatic placement is more developed, her blend is better projected and effortless, her head voice is light years ahead of Sohyang's she can whistle, her melisma is more complex( 5 semitones!!!!) both in terms of pitch and agility.... I could go on.
