he never does sliding tackles, shows how good his positioning is
In his early days he did a lot of sliding tackles ,even way more than that Ramos does and was super speedy and faster than all forwards. But with constant back problems, knee and calf issues he removed those triats from his game and now he never does any slide tackles. I miss his slide tackles they were so good and well timed. His speed dropped a little but still faster than many forwards in long sprint. He is our silent GIANT.

@@fernandorosa9022 the same Maldini who is master at slide tackles and does way more than others. I get the point he meant. He emphasises the importance of good positioning. But a defender cannot be always positioned perfectly. It depends more on how the team plays. A team playing with a high defensive line to support the press is more likely to be caught on transition where u have to make important recoveries and tackles. It does not matter whether u eliminate the threat by making a slide tackle or a standing tackle or by outrunning your opponent as long as u do it.

This guy is just 27 years old and already was a beast when no one knew about van Dijk. Varane is so underrated and way way better than van Dijk. He is gonna be our future captain and we will have a lot of joy of of him for the next couple years

I have been watching him ever since he began his career at Madrid and he has been world class ever since. He is without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best players in the world. His qualities and abilities don't need any explanation. He has been on top of his game for so long and he has always shown his magnificence in the biggest stages. He has won every major trophy and he is absolutely essential to Madrid's future. All these transfer talks, being linked to United is just to get a bigger contract because in no shape or form Madrid would want to let him go. You don't have to be Madrid fan to know that he is going to be an absolute legend.

Varane has covered for our missing spots in defense everytime Ramos or Marcelo decided to attack and couldn’t reach back in time because they were too slow .... he is better than Sergio Ramos imo for this reason to read situations ten times better
That's his role jeez. Do you even understand how a stopper-cover CB pair works? They play like that to maximize both Varane and Ramos' strengths. Because Ramos is excellent at intercepting plays. If you don't understand the importance of interceptions and what it means for RM's games then I don't need to waste time with you. Varane is there to cover for the loose balls. That's where they can utilize his speed. Ramos's reading of the game is excellent too. Have you seen how he intercepts passes, calls Varane to push a little higher up for offside traps, and more?
Varane is great and all that but I've watched him since he's a 19 kid. I was one of his biggest fans at that time too and had thought that he'll be the undisputed best when he reaches 24.
However, he's not all that good in reading passes and got caught being on the wrong side of a through ball or a cross so many times. He can be indecisive at times too but he's fixed that this season.

He's overlooked because of how good Ramos was and still is. More or less like Messi & Neymar's situation.
