7 minutes of leg locking, diving for submissions, athleticism and finally finish with a Head & Arm choke. Modern grappling has made a full circle back to it's catch wrestling origins.
Delusion at its finest. Both these guys started out as Gi Bjj players. Catch wrestling has no claim to their success AT ALL. And modern grappling having roots in catch wrestling? What about Judo and Japanese Jiu Jitsu? You know, actual grappling styles, not fake wrestling and rigged matches which is the origin of Catch? What about Modern Catch, where the best CACC competitor gets tapped by a 10th P guy thats not even in the top 100 No Gi competitors? You guys are literally a cult. Stop spreading misinformation.
@@imightdeletethislater3810 I think OP has a good point. No gi grappling isn't just mere jiu jitsu, it's become something quite different. I characterize it as submission wrestling or submission grappling but not jiu jitsu. Was at a Craig Jones seminar at 10th planet portland in 2019 and Craig taught this exact defense to outside heel hook from double outside ashi. Have been to some Lachlan seminars as well on the 50-50, 80-20, 90-10 position sequences, too. To initiate the defense, you take a c grip in their armpit (right hand if they attack your right leg) in their thumb on backside and drive down. At the same time, scoop grip under their hip and try to keep their hips off the floor. This prevents them from being able to finisb and attack from double outside ashi. The right hand c grip feeds through into an underhook, just as you see Craig do here. The position basically then becomes a body lock like passing position with a natural option for the head-and-arm choke. Good stuff, really recommend the cost of a Craig or Lachlan seminar if you have the chance.
@josephpeat 99% of people who do BJJ will never even be good enough to grace a mat with Gordon Ryan so being 0-3 against him is still better than 99.9% of BJJ guys in history.
BTW I love the sportsmanship in this video. Both were rolling full speed but ethically with respect and honour. No doubt they both came out of this having learned from it. Absolutely how it ought to be.
I’ve found that patting my opponent forcefully several times causes them to magically release this submission. Works well for lots of others, too. I think I discovered a really powerful pressure point attack. Shhh… don’t tell anybody!
Son Dinh Damn that's crazy. I wouldn't want to compete with my coach, and definitely not want to tap him. Lucky for me, I will NEVER be able to tap my coach lol.
Mat Tricks this tournament was the same weight class. Believe it or not Craig and Giles are close in size. When they qualified for adcc last year they had a private match to see who would have to compete at 88kg. Craig drew the short end of the stick and was able to bulk up to about 86. Craig is bulking up significantly as of the past few months though. But at the time of this match they were close to the same size. Giles is shorter but dense.
@@WhtMike2006 Lachlan is not the same size with Craig lol Lachlan is not where close to 85 kg at best maybe he is 80 kg or a bit heavier. Craig walks around 94 kg and fights at that weight or sometimes fights at 88 kg.
Commentary was gold.
Lachlan had me checking if the video was in 1.5 speed lmao
I wish I could be that calm in a leg lock battle.
Craig Jones is so creative with this leg entrances but this match in general so technical and quick. Has me rethinking my whole game..
7 minutes of going for heel hooks and it ends by head and arm choke??
Brutal choke bro
Katagatame
it looks like Lachlan was running out of fuel in the end, this match was intense and the difference in weight certainly made the difference
The art of misdirection
Almost every bjj roll I do

One of the more exciting to watch matches as far as leg lockers goes. Glad to see a strangle finish. My white belt ass will def watch this again
How is your ass going?
What belt are you now?
r u still a white belt?

That pass at 2.06 is slick. A mini windshield wiper done at a crazy space through a tiny gap. Really cool to see
"How long is his finger did you see that thing!? LOOK AT THAT THING!" 🤣
best comment by far
I'm starting to think every single Australian is hilarious
Leg lock madness. Heel hook hell. Old boy gets caught and just decided to head and arm choke to get out of it. It's so anti climactic it's beautiful.
It's almost as though people now forget there are other submissions during comp once it turns into leg hunting lol
Austin Lance
same thing when he fought leandro lo, he was after the legs non stop then finally went to Lo's back and RNC for the win
anti climactic? what a fuckin joke that was super slick
Not anti climatic at all, heel hooks are stupid this is a real submission

This was a very interesting match two of the best leg lockers in the game it's crazy how Craig can twist and spin his way into almost any attack!
牛逼 lachlan is so cool that he coached up such a great athlete
These guys are setting the bar so high
This is the future of bjj
Yes agreed.
@Hudson Hawk6 Same, not really a fan
Gordon Ryan thinks otherwise.
This is forever undeniable no matter how far the sport progresses
What a match. Great commentary too
if graigs opponents are smart they analyze this match, there is probably nobody knowing his game better than lachlan.

Didn't Giles give craig his black belt?

great match
jeff glover vs jeff glover
beautiful. No winner or a loser in this match
Recognised the ref from an old white belt match of mine lmao gotta love the small world of bjj
Craig got me twice with that arm triangle when I rolled with him last year!
This match is great, but the commentators are even better :-D
Wow! Just wow!
