I was freaked out as hell by this movie as a little kid when I saw it in the theater. As an adult, I see it as one of the most marvelously creative and original films I have ever seen-it is a pure trip into Burton's dark, twisted imagination. And Keaton's performance was so enthusiastic that you can't help but enjoy it.
I feel like every person who is and was ever in marching band loses their shit over this opening. I especially love when the bass brass comes in for the attack and the "looneytunes" clarinets just start running up and down the scale. What a fantastically ominous march.
It was released in 1988 Beetlejuice is the best film of the 1980s and it's been a classic for all his years reference best songs and it's cool it's great
Such a good arrangement, the Contrabassoon sends shivers down my spine and the counterpoint throughout is just damn awesome. No one uses so many instruments like Danny, the guy's a genius.
I was just in East Corinth, Vermont yesterday. Wow, that's a small, dead town. This film really added charm to it and made this town another character in the film.
I don't know why, but I get the feeling that the deepest corners of Tim Burton's mind play Danny Elfman's theme songs on a loop. Beetlejuice, Batman, Nightmare, Corpse Bride... I just have to hear the first few bars of film score to know Elfman wrote the music. It's not hard to see why the Burton-Elfman-Depp trio exists; they're three of the greatest and strangest minds in all of cinema.
Fun fact, Tim Burton called on Danny for most of his films. He had a preferred actor, actress, and composer. Johnny Depp, the woman who played Bellatrix, and Danny Elfman
Y'know, the funny thing about Micheal Keaton is that, while watching him in the Batman movies, I could STILL see Beetlejuice in his face. I wouldn't have been surprised if he suddenly switched to his Beetlejuice voice during either movie. Oh, and BEETLEJUICE! *waits for something to happen*
@exposed97 well, the original concept had beetlejuice as a murdering psychopath ghost rather than the clown he is. Some major rewriting was done to make him more humorous. I'm glad they did.
did you play this piece from "Music for a Dark Theatre"? thats all of Danny Elfmans work combined. cuz my highschool did that at my sisters graduation. it was awesome!!!
And their STILL talking about doing a sequel lol! Whatever. I love these opening credits. Great music coupled with cool tracking shots of the town and then the spider crawling on the model home. Great stuff. :)

wish i saw it in the theaters back in 1988
This opening always gave me chills.
Andrew Pytko but still the same time, it’s really cool.
Great film and well done for the past all the 1980s
The only thing wrong with this score is that.... It ends
I watched this movie all the time as a kid. Oh the memories.
So happy that they recreated this intro with a new theme by Danny Elfman for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice!
Greatest intro song ever...thanks Danny!

To myself: "Of course Danny Elfman composed this song."
Chowdaire Right?
I literally said that. I was like "This music is insanely awesome. Oh Danny Elfman? Yea of course, thats why."
Fun fact, Tim Burton called on Danny for most of his films. He had a preferred actor, actress, and composer. Johnny Depp, the woman who played Bellatrix, and Danny Elfman

Beetlejuice (Original Motion Picture Score) Danny Elfman
Ah, such an original movie and soundtrack!
And even though I usually hate sequels, I abashedly look forward to Beetlejuice 2.
This movie was a trip!
Taffer20, it's called the Beetlejuice theme song and it's written by Danny Elfman.
This music is so evil, and yet so catchy.
Evil??
A moving theme. Tugs at the heartstrings. :..(
This is a Classic Movie I love it.
The music with the Geffen Logo is really epic for some reason.
I watched this movie since I was like 5 and I still love it.
ELFMAN + BURTON = GREAT MOVIE
I love how it sounds at 0:31 - 0:35
Happy anniversary to Beatles for 100 years

The reason you and martinstatic remember that bit it's because it's been used in many trailers including the Casper movie.

Totally. He's unique, even his critics have to give him that.

I sure hope not. I heard a terrifying rumor that they are gonna remake short circuit. The sky is gonna fall!
Danny Elfman: music god.

Love, love, love it!!!!
It has no name really. Its just the 'Beetlejuice Theme'
una intro realmente brutal!!!
Who did Alec Baldwin play? I saw a guy that kinda looked like him but it was the guy who played the Mayor in The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Dear Hollywood, please don't fuck up Beetlejuice by remaking it like you do everything else.
Whats the name of the song that play after the intro in the background??
Am I thinking of another movie with similar music and camera over the town or is it this movie..
Way better then the terrible sequel.

Alec Baldwin used to be HOT!
He also used to seem like a decent, mentally-stable human being.
@joemac5367 exactly
The better version! Bluray version ruined the music.
I like this beginning but it seems sped up to me...my movie runs this beginning to its true self.....something is off here
