I grew up in Cheyenne and came from a UPRR family when these were called "Donkeys" or "Mules" as they did all work around the yard. That was back in the late fifties, early sixty's.As your story indicates this time frame, that engine would have been fairly new and would have never looked like a junkyard piece!!

Ive seen one of these along side a old warehouse driving along one of the highways in Chicago. It was a very cool sight.
