@@nunyabizness4354 The Soviet Union is not still a unified country for a simple fact of life: the military cast used their power to create a new order. Have you ever heard of the United States? I tell you, it's a country with a military budget of 768 thousand million dollars, the biggest in the world (The other top 25's combined can't match it, all ALLIES of the USA). They tell it's for "defence" but that's a blatant lie, the US has got: An ally to the north, a friendly country to the south, FISH at either side. Argentina for example sleep well at night with a meagre budget of 3.7 thousand million dollar. The United States use their military power to dictate their policy over other countries. They do to the rest of the world what the Soviet leadership did to their people. My explanation can't be simpler, mate. I expect you do understand now.

In the heart of battle's fiery dance, A weapon stands with lethal stance. HK21, its name held high, A guardian 'neath the endless sky. Relentless force, precision's grace, In every challenge, it finds its place. From distant echoes to close embrace, HK21's valor leaves its trace. A guardian true on field of strife, Through smoke and fire, it carves a life. Machine of war, yet stories untold, Of heroes brave, and courage bold. So let us honor this tool of war, For those who wield it near and far. In history's annals, its legacy spun, The HK21 blazes 'til battle is done.
6:05 - that drum actually looks pretty sweet! Belt feeding removes all the spring issues and the winding. IDK how to reload it manually, but I like the concept, as it keeps the COG centered. Ammo cases on the side might be fine with mounted guns, but they´re sh1t if you have to hold it. And carrying loose belts is a Hollywood thing. Looks dope, but it´s horrible to actually keep them on your body when running, crawling or anything odd you might wanna do on a mission. The downsides might be that the end of the belt is not accessible until it runs out, if you want to connect another one, and it takes a bit longer to reload a mag when you have to wiggle the belt out of the carrier manually to feed the first round. The non-disintegrating belts might also cause problems snagging on anything on or around you. They might be easier to reload though - but at that point, you´ve got enough time anyways, so first things first. Another plus, though - you´ve got a machine gun with adeauate ammo for patrols, and if you need base defense, the same gun mounted on a tripod, could feed from an even larger ammo case for sustained fire capability. This gun is actually awesome!
I think the reason the RPD is known as a belt fed AK is because it looks like someone tried to recreate an AK from a phone call describing a child's drawing of an AK.
I think ??? The best place to start is! Every model of the I-M-I. GALIL I Think that you should cannibalize Addi milled sniper rifle version of the Galeel or get an unbuilt kit if possible and use those parts on your 50. The glial sniper rifle had a reverse bipod from the ARM bipod. And then custom build it all out of titanium. I was wondering why you couldn’t do stamped titanium or billet aluminum receiver to make it lighter?
Rhodesian and SAF forces also used cut down RPD's during the African Bush Wars, I was fortunate enough to "acquire" a cut down RPD when I was doing contract work in Afghanistan, it was so comforting to have in the back seat of my hooptie when rolling around that shit hole country.
@@mikeparrell9805 I know it's not really, but for some reason that sounds like some amount of fun. That's ignorant of the sacrifices but just a thought lol
Rewatching, I only just now realize that the gas block doesn't directly connect with the gas tube below the barrel. You can see when the bolt goes into battery the piston bridges the gap and then cycles after each round is fired. Really interesting.
The RPD is one of my all-time favorites to use throughout FPS games. I always found one favorite to use, and the RPD was the most used I'm pretty sure. RPD, M60, LSAT
@@dillonc7955 My whole schtick was to create run and gun classes but use LMGs instead of SMGs. You were shit out of luck when you ran into somebody running a marathon that magically has 100 bullets that move a lot faster than you do.
Battlefield Vietnam (2004) was the game that introduced me to the RPD. Then COD Black Ops: Cold War (2020) brought it back and had me fallen in love with this LMG again.
Despite some quirks that could've been improved (like not having the lower under-cutout and the exposed piston at the gas block lol), it's a sweet unit. Nice!
You're missing the point. Russian designed firearms work better when they suck in dust and dirt dirt when fired. It improves the function of all the undersized internal components that are on the minus side of tolerance.
Now Brandon, there's atleast one woman who watches your channel. I married her 17 years ago, and she's how I found your channel. And we are both subbed to it. She ran across your 1858 Remington video, when we inherited my great, great uncle Bat's bird's head grip Peacemaker, and an 1858 passed down on dad's side, since 1871. My grandfather's aunt was Fred Masterson's daughter. While William Barclay Masterson was living in NYC, and working as a sports writer for one of the papera, in 1918, he stopped to visit with the family, on his way to a baseball game in GA. Along with his Colt, there's a picture dated 19 April, 1918, eith him holding my 2 year old grandfather, on his lap. Sadly, that Colt is one 9f uis "bar guns ". He'd buy one at a pawn shop, carve notches into the grip, and offer them for sale, for drinking money. This was one of his last ones, purchased late 1919, a few months before he passed. It then went to his neice in Shinglehouse PA, to her daughter, then to my grandfather, my dad, then me. It is already listed in the will, to go to our daughter and son in law, upon our passing. Only way it leaves the family, is going to a museum, for others to see. Along with the picture, his last handgun license, as the Sullivan Act was, and still is, in effect, and his travel log and diary. So yes. There's at least one woman who watches your channel, in my family, and I'd bet on 2. Our daughter owns an AL Guy AK, from when you were still in NC.

The handguard (and maybe the grip) of the RPD can be seen in Fallout 3's "Chinese Assault Rifle" The stock is also similarly shaped, though it's a wireframe in the game and not solid.
The SKS was the first rifle I ever shot. Been a huge fan of 7.62x39mm every since. Personally, I prefer an AR-15 chambered for 7.62x39mm. I can only say this, because there has been major improvements to the magazines in the past 2 decades.
AR-15 and 762x39 is cringe. Needless reliability issues for that caliber, and the aesthetics of an "AR-47" style rifle is always an afront to God. 😅 If you want something a little bit AR and a little bit AK in that caliber just get a Galil Ace Gen 2.

I love how your videos aren’t just some guy shooting a gun but a full breakdown on the gun such as history and disassembly. Also I love your sense of humor and sucks how TH-cam is such a snowflake
It’s cool how there are several top gun channels that *kinda* run the same content from a 50,000 foot level, but they are each very unique in terms of their style, presentation, and humor. It’s like they all complement each other.
And as far as I can tell they all are cool with each other and don’t see the others as competition.

In the heart of battle's fiery dance,
A weapon stands with lethal stance.
HK21, its name held high,
A guardian 'neath the endless sky.
With steel resolve and roaring might,
Its bullets sing in the darkest night.
A symphony of power unbound,
In every burst, a thunderous sound.
Relentless force, precision's grace,
In every challenge, it finds its place.
From distant echoes to close embrace,
HK21's valor leaves its trace.
A guardian true on field of strife,
Through smoke and fire, it carves a life.
Machine of war, yet stories untold,
Of heroes brave, and courage bold.
So let us honor this tool of war,
For those who wield it near and far.
In history's annals, its legacy spun,
The HK21 blazes 'til battle is done.

It's hard to imagine moving a centimeter can completely change the trajectory of the bullet
I think the reason the RPD is known as a belt fed AK is because it looks like someone tried to recreate an AK from a phone call describing a child's drawing of an AK.
That intro hits scarily close to home, it was either the rpd or the hamr

I Think that you should cannibalize Addi milled sniper rifle version of the Galeel or get an unbuilt kit if possible and use those parts on your 50. The glial sniper rifle had a reverse bipod from the ARM bipod. And then custom build it all out of titanium. I was wondering why you couldn’t do stamped titanium or billet aluminum receiver to make it lighter?
Always loved the RPD especially the cut down versions that MACV SOG ran around with.
Rhodesian and SAF forces also used cut down RPD's during the African Bush Wars, I was fortunate enough to "acquire" a cut down RPD when I was doing contract work in Afghanistan, it was so comforting to have in the back seat of my hooptie when rolling around that shit hole country.

I myself am a big fan of the rpd and am glad you are covering it, great content as always, future congressman Brandon.
I love how weird they look compared to the average squad weapon. Such a unique design.
Rewatching, I only just now realize that the gas block doesn't directly connect with the gas tube below the barrel. You can see when the bolt goes into battery the piston bridges the gap and then cycles after each round is fired.
Really interesting.

That is an incredibly modern weapon for the early to mid 40s. Insane what soviets came up with.
That, or modern gun technology hasn’t really evolved that much. And how much different can a machine gun really be from what’s already out there?
@@matthewgabbard6415 Hit the nail on the head there. The M60 was a derivative of the MG42, the M240 was a derivative of the M60, etc etc. And the Germans still use the MG42 in the new MG3, same thing but with some pic rails and chambered in 7.62 NATO.

If you want something a little bit AR and a little bit AK in that caliber just get a Galil Ace Gen 2. You also get the rock solid reliability of AK 762 mags
