- WOW! First time ever running here in this set up and Chess really showed up and showed out! He was perfect and I finally jockeyed him right.. He ran a 14.304 to win the jackpot and set a new arena record. I am so excited that I get to take you guys with me! This video was filmed before I got the new microphone :)

The reason the water on the legs improves the cooling effect of the ice is that water is a good conductor of heat. The water fills the gap between the ice packs and the legs, so there is less air in between ( air is a good insulator). Wet fur does not insulate well, so the heat from Chester's legs conducts faster into the ice packs, thus cooling the legs faster and more effectively.

Awesome run, you guys even had extra time at the first! The water rinse down before does make the icing more effective because the cooling of the legs before hand increases the longevity of the ice packs. Great idea and I bet that works great!

1. Alfalfa is a type of hay. It’s just a preferation sometimes, but for some horses, (like my mini with cushings) they need a certain type. There is Timothy (don’t believe horses can have that), orchard, alfalfa, etc.
2. Nope. His legs move diagonally at the trot and therefore he is not gaited

Make sure there is a net for the window in his trailer by his face! You don’t want something to fly in there and going in his eye! Just making sure he has the best life! ❤
Edit: He is wearing a fly mask so that is ok, but if he isn’t I would suggest get a net or closing the window

I’ve been watching you for quite a while. I enjoy watching your horses be groomed. I think they’re beautiful and very muscular. I was just wondering how come every time they eat you give them all different kinds of stuff in there food but maybe they don’t really like it and they don’t really enjoy their meal, you give it to them once in a while because one of those horses look like he was hesitant to eat what you had put in the bucket

Im not sure where or if ive said that? I mentioned it falling off the saddle rack, but other than that it's been fine

I’ve noticed no questions regarding how much it costs to compete or to own or stable your horse or even how much a nice trailer costs are ever answered. I know this is not an inexpensive sport but it would be nice if you could give some ballpark figures
for those who may like to try to get into this sport.
