Wow what a comprehensive port dock! $375 is a bit but for all the ports you get, I believe it’s worth it! Thanks for sharing ! Picking up my M4 PRO MACBOOK today !
@@keirux I can't use anything 60hz because it causes headache. So I need at least 120hz or 144hz. I multi-task like crazy so 3 screens are the minimum. Most often, one screen is for reference (emails, documents, ERP app). Two screens for Photoshop/ Illustrator / Final cut / Lightroom , etc. etc. One smaller screen for other stuffs like youtube videos, working folders, etc. So, a laptop + three 4K screens is the minimum. I also put my iPad pro near by to control music or run messages / conference call / Zoom.
Great video as usual! It would be a large added cost (~$200 USD), but OWC, Sonnet, and others make Thunderbolt (3 or 4) to 10G Ethernet Adapters. The online reviews make it seem they work very well and are reliable. Something for you to consider.
You never heard of Corning thunderbolt optical cable? been around since thunderbolt 2, they work great, for long distance. Thunderbolt 2 still useful i got many devices, even 10gbe.
Even with a 10Gb Ethernet port the copy/write speed will be bottled by the NAS drives speed, so it probably won't make that 4x difference unless your NAS is made entirely of M.2 SSDs.
@technotice 8:43 solution to your thunderbolt nas is to run a corning optical thunderbolt 3/4 cable it's it's a expensive cable but will solve your problem there are a lot off diffrent lengths
Please please please could you do a full Mac mini m4 pro real world test on premiere pro? There is not a single video out there that really tests out what the M4 pro chip could do. Desperate to know!
@ yeah I get it, but it’s mainly for users like myself who aren’t ready to move or our professional work setup to resolve or fcp. Most of the people in the industry still work on premiere
its interesting to see so many creators started using dubbing feature but i still prefer original voice awesome content - i hope you will get new audience through this feature
Keep it coming. You’re appealing to an entirely new market segment by showcasing more 🍎 products. I built a 13900k, then Threadripper, and then bought an M2 Ultra, and now I’ve ordered an M4 Max. The Unix based system, ease, integration, power efficiency, and the fact that the entire professional creative industry (photo, video, audio, etc.) is on Mac - has been my reason for staying the course - and paying the Apple tax. Most editing isn’t done ‘online’ anymore - most stuff is proxies and cloud-based. So the days of needing a system that can handle 8k RED Raptor and ArriRAW are gone. Not to mention most creators aren’t even shooting on those platforms anymore…hence the rise of the likes of the GoPro, Mirrorless cameras, and smaller platforms that all shoot h264/265.
@drsmith1988 This is the laptop we talking about. You probably don't need a dock for Mac Mini. Because you can plug everything in and leave. Docks are good if you use a laptop at your workplace and home you plug in one cable and your battle station is ready.
@@TomasRamoskaWell a dock makes a Mini actually compare to the io of a PC, so its not necessary for many people, but for power users its the difference between having more than enough ports, and struggling over io every time you have to add a new device. It’s really the biggest advantage of Apples use of high bandwidth Thunderbolt. A few Thunderbolt ports can power an entire music studio or video production suite with ports to spare.
The CalDigit TS4 looks really good too (and quite a bit cheaper). Would be good to see a direct comparison between the two. The CalDigit supports Windows whereas this doesn't but would be good to see a more detailed review of them.
You just described 80% of the influencers who review products on YT and I think it’s pretty questionable to even criticise… influencers will do what the vast majority of people would do in the same circumstances i.e. do not bite the hand that feeds!
@ I think you’re over blowing the issue… most sensible viewers will understand when an influencer is using his/her influence to sell a product due to possible kick backs from manufacturers… again I can’t fault a TH-camr for not being totally up front with viewers BUT the other thing here is the Ivanky product in question is a top notch piece of kit albeit quite expensiv…

Noone need any Thunderbolt 4 dock anymore, make video about Thunderbolt 5 ones bro.
@@hasansahin7965 there are loads of people still using M1-M3 MacBooks… some even older
8:45 I use a qnap thunderbolt to a 10Gbe sfp+ converter and use an 10Gtek fiber module to my synology nas they also has an sfp+ 10Gbe card
You can connect to your NAS with Thunderbolt if you use those optical cables from Corning
It’s 699 in Canada, more expensive than my Mac mini bruh
And not even tb5 😂 shits insane to call it “the best dock for your mac laptop” 😂😂 bros just an ad channel
😂😂

you can just plug a inexpensive Dock, into a Dock also, to get those extra ports. it is way overpriced and no 10gbe. OWC makes the Best 10 GBE Dock.
Thunderbolt 5, let’s gooooo… ⚡️
So is this a permanent replacement for your Threadripper setup?
jury is still out on that decision....
Any thoughts on macos scaling issues with non apple monitors, and recommendations would useful
Buy the OWC 10gbe Dock, i have used many years, PC/MAC wORKS GREAT! I BOUGHT TWO.
I have a PC. How would you compare this docking station to a Cal-Digit TS4?
Thanks! I think that I just watched a Mac mini review from this creator. So, yes, you are correct.
I need a thunderbolt 5 hub to power three 4K 144hz monitor in one cable to my M4 Max. Not a thunderbolt 4 hub
Already available, OWC just announced one
@@keirux OWC website says pre-order; that means it's not available yet.
The kensington is out of stock everywhere too.
I got the Kensington SD5000T5 dock, it's pretty nice and is TB5 with 140W PD.

Are there no Thunderbolt ports on this device? I see just USB-C
Hey man, would you say it make sense to buy intel 14th gen now ?
I would, just build a 14900k system, the one in the background!
I was looking at the prices and I found the i9 12900ks under 300 euros, is it a good idea?
Have you worked out the key combo for snapping windows to the sides yet?

No Thunderbolt 5 and 10Gbe also why they can't build in a few m.2 slots inside the dock.
agreed!
M4 Max or M2 Ultra Studio?

2 cents. Premiere is not as efficient as Davinci or FC when editing and rendering on M chips.

I look on your link and it says it's a thunderbolt 4 dock, shouldn't it be a thunderbolt 5😢
no TB5 available yet! :)
I'd still like to see the maxed out M4 Max Lightroom benchmarks...

TBH, it's automatic by TH-cam, they've switched it on automatically :)
high-end KVM switch price with no KVM switch functionality. Pretty insane price point.
