Even on DGT boards, grandmasters write down their moves, just to avoid confusion, in possibility that the DGT boards make a mistake, which is possible. In addition to this, the first DGT board was only thought of in 1998, while Searching for Bobby Fischer came out in 1993.
I don't think the writers missed that the queen can block in the philosopher's stone. They probably didn't know how Harry could destroy the queen without some major plot twist. Besides, they're playing wizard's chess instead of muggle chess, so perhaps there is a rule that forced checkmate (if called out) is an actual checkmate 🤷
Nice video but on 6:34 when it gets stated "the board is only 7x7" it isn't? It is a normal 8x8 board, maybe I am not seeing correctly but when I am counting it is 8 squares to either side, but besides that if it were 7 squares the corners next to each other would be the same color If I am just not seeing correctly feel free to correct me but if I see it correctly how can a video about mistakes make a mistake themselves about explaining a mistake xd
Whites king and queen are placed correctly if that is what you mean. The board is just not rotated correctly so it looks like the queen is on the wrong square since it is not on a white square because of the board
It never ceases to amaze me how movies get the simplest things about chess wrong. Even music videos! Look up the song "La Timpul Lor" by DJ Project. My biggest facepalm ever.

But then it would have been checkmate in 3 just before the knight in sacrificed, so I'm not too sure about the theory on wizard's chess.
