    Cool idea for jeans you love and don't want to throw away but as a cost saving measure in general I don't think it saves all that much, the dye plus fixative costs 18 dollars and a new pair of jeans if you get them on sale is between 20 to 30 bucks, I mean it does save some but it also takes labor to do it. Maybe for high price specialty jeans it would make more sense.

      i think it's worth it to dye if you love how the jeans fit and are just trying to give them new life. if not, then for sure it's not worth the work.

    Very cool! Before I had just added the Rit to the wash cycle. Your way seems to lock it in better.

      i've heard that also works ! but since it doesn't stay in the water as long maybe it doesn't absorb it as well ? 🤔

    I have a whit boyfriend jean I want to try this on. The jean material is strong, do you think this will work? Please let me know. Thanks.

      since it's thicker i would just double the dye amount to be safe. are the jeans 100% cotton?

    How do you get light black like yours? I don't want mine to end up midnight black but more dark charcoal.

    • @lucykiins
      @lucykiins  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      this one turned out light just because of a coating the jeans had. i didn't realize this til after i dyed them. if you want a lighter black, just leave them in the dye bath for less time 🙂

    would this stay for a long time? or would it fade after months? i'm planning to dye my white denim to gray tho.

    • @lucykiins
      @lucykiins  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you use good dye and let it absorb properly it should stay especially if you're dying white jeans.

    if i just wanted one leg dyed do i use the same steps but only soak one leg?

    • @lucykiins
      @lucykiins  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes ! but keep in mind, once you throw it in the wash some of the dye might come off and absorb onto the leg that isn't dyed.

    I want to dye my faded black jeans darker but I want to save the buttons and the label patch from turning black. Is there any methods where I can restore them?

    • @lucykiins
      @lucykiins  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      if they're polyester then they won't absorb any of the dye and remain the same. what kind of buttons and label does it have?

    Is it possible to dye. My light wash jeans into black or dark blue?

      yes, you can use the same process for light wash jeans 😌

    Do you think dying them a second time would get them darker?

    • @lucykiins
      @lucykiins  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      for these particular ones, i don't think so. the coating didn't let them absorb the dye the first time so i don't think it'll work the second time 😕 but if you have jeans that are just faded, it will for sure work !

    • @lucykiins
      @lucykiins  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you want to keep stirring it so all parts get evenly dyed. if you just leave it, there will be patches of dye where the fabric folds 😊

      i believe t's suppose to help the fabric absorb the dye better.
