So awesome seeing this car - cal looker #1 restored to its former glory! I was lucky enough to receive a copy of February 1975 hot VW's featuring this car . A guy gave me his '70s collection of Hot VWs at my old vw parts store job. I used to work for Barret Enterprises and Scott Bakin had just finished his ruby red '67 cal style bug. He then asked how long I've been into the scene? I said well since the '70s thanks to friends & family . He said if you know your history you'll know what my new project car is when its done! I go come on now ,don't keep me intrigued that long give a good hint, he wouldn't. Aaaah! So he bought tons of stuff from me then I left that shop for opportunity to work for the local competitor - Car Custom. Soon Scott was finished with his true replica of this Cal looker #1 . He brought the car to Car Custom and parked it out back to show a few assistant managers & myself to have his newly completed car . I knew instantly what it was and called it out. One of the managers knew the car as well the other guys seemed not to know what they were looking at besides a super clean vw . lol
