Part 2 of a 5-part series. I'll help you find the inspiration and determination to write an original song NOW. Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac has written some of the most beloved songs of the past 50 years. And she's done it with as few as TWO CHORDS per song. Find out how what you can learn from Stevie to get inspired and write more and better songs.
To show you what I mean, I sing and play an excerpt from Fleetwood Mac's only #1 single, the Stevie-Nicks-penned classic, "Dreams."
There's no reason why YOU can't write a song with simple chords and an interesting melody to create some magic like Ms. Nicks. Take today's song challenge and give it a try!

Well said. The best pop or hit songs are often the ones that are simple, since people or consumers can easily remember them.

It’s a songwriter’s choice: do a lot with a little. Stevie is one of the greats at doing that. And it never hurt that she had Lindsey Buckingham to arrange and produce those songs…

I really enjoyed your "Dreams" interpretation. Do you have a full version available? Fascinating about it only being two chords. I knew it was an F-G ostinato, but didn't realize it persisted the whole song.

Thanks, Kevin. I was just messing around with a chunk of Dreams to illustrate the songwriting point about two chords...but I'm glad you liked my approach! Maybe I'll give it a go...

YES! Great way to rise to this challenge. Interesting how it can feel brave to stay on a single chord for entire verses, eh? But it makes the turnaround so welcome and powerful. Kudos, man.
