everyone who has played jenna; jessie, sarah, betsy, katherine, steph, desi and all the other women are so incredibly talented and put their own spin on the role. yes, its totally fine to have preference (personally i love betsy) but its not acceptable to be just plainly rude and mean towards the others who play the role of jenna. all these women are amazing, and do not deserve to have these hateful comments said about them
When I saw Betsy in Waitress (twice) she sang the song in the higher key. Also, there was just something about her portrayal of Jenna that made it so good and emotional. I truly loved her as Jenna.
I saw her live a week ago and she blew me away! Her vocals are just beautiful and she is such a lovely person. I had the amazing opportunity to sing with her as well. I love her so much
I was also at Betsy's last show! It was a very emotional performance! She is my favorite Jenna! She truly has a very special gift of performing up on that stage! I love her so much!!
i think everyone who gives Betsy a hard time is being a bit stubborn. i saw her perform back in October of 2017 and she made me sob like a CHILD. probably the most talented actress ive ever seen, and her voice is perfect for Jenna. i think everyone is just so set on Jesse and Sara for obvious reasons.
Reilly Cardella i saw her in october too. absolutely amazing. she was crying from the beginning of she used to be mine until the end of the show. she was so into it; just hearing this one makes me tear up cuz i can hear the tears in her voice omg
Betsy is soooo amazing! I had the opportunity to meet her and hear her sing this song for a special event, and it was so beautiful I cried. She is such a great person and amazing role model its crazy.
I think they all sound incredible, each a little different. I personally loved Betsy Wolfe when I saw her. I purposely hadn’t listened to the soundtrack yet and it felt like the entire audience was holding their breath by the end of this song. I’ve never witnessed anything quite like it at a show. She played Jenna very bubbly and optimistically and this song was like an emotional storm where she broke down.
I do understand preferences. But I don’t understand why the need to bash any of these amazing women that have played Jenna. They’re all amazing and among the finest leading ladies on Broadway, incredible in everything they do. Fact is this great show has had one powerhouse after another grace the stage in the diner.
Having seen Sara, Betsy, Desi, Stephanie, and Katherine in the role of Jenna, Stephanie was my favorite. That being said, Betsy is and was absolutely amazing. All of these women are, so I don't understand why people choose to hate or bash other performers. I am really looking forward to Nicollete's take on the role, as well as whoever replaces Desi on tour after LA. I wish I had had the opportunity to see Jessie so I could truly make the comparisons of all of them, but I did get to see her in Carousel during previews so... The main point here is people need to stop resorting to the darker sides of their nature and remember that performers are all human and can be hurt by this kind of thing. Betsy was a phenomenal Jenna, and I am glad I got to see her in the role opposite Jason Mraz.
I’m sure she sang it higher when I saw her! She still sounds great 😍❤️but I feel the lower key limits the belting a bit more. I’m really interested to see what key Katharine McPhee sings it in because her mid range is gorgeous so I thought she’d be more like to go the same key as Sara, but then her SUTBM recording is same as Jessie’s!
Yeah that’s strange, because in recordings from the beginning of her run it was still up the semitone. This is the key Sara sings it in. Maybe they just decided it was easier on her vocal chords?
Maybe, it's optional to do either or maybe they did it just for this performance because they knew that she would be emotional because it's her final performance or maybe she was simply ill so they adjusted it.
During previews, they lowered it from g major to f# major. When Betsy Wolfe joined the cast, they lowered the key again to f major in the middle of her run.
Guys! Here is Katharine McPhee's first performance audios! What Baking Can Do: th-cam.com/video/es3L9mUhJEc/w-d-xo.html She Used To Be Mine: th-cam.com/video/WpYItURRp4M/w-d-xo.html ENJOY
Blah blah blah, Betsy Betsy Betsy. Good riddance, I say! So glad Stephanie Torns finally got her time to shine. You really cannot put those ladies on the same level of talent.
Well, unless you perform 8 times a week in an extremely popular musical with people hating on you, you have no right to hate on anyone who has made it to broadway.

I think she's absolutely amazing! I just really love the way Jessie's voice is so soft and cracks. But they're all super talented
November 4th and I cried through the second half with Betsy!
I saw her last August and I couldn't agree more! She was amazing!
Totally agree, I saw her in October as well. I got chills when I heard her sing this. I think she was and amazing Jenna.
Betsy is soooo amazing! I had the opportunity to meet her and hear her sing this song for a special event, and it was so beautiful I cried. She is such a great person and amazing role model its crazy.
I love the unique use of the lower key in this song. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ love betsy as jenna so sad this beautiful show is going to close soon😭😭
I think they all sound incredible, each a little different.

oh my gosh. that was something else. Betsy Wolfe is a phenomenon
I love Sara and Jessie’s take on Jenna but honestly, Betsy will always be my favorite, there’s just something about the way she plays Jenna...
Allison is officially my fav

Betsy Wolfe is a national treasure.
I was there
What a voice! Best Jenna, and with fantastic competition from Jessie and Sara, that's saying something.
god, what I would have gived to see this performance
Betsy is my favorite Jenna
I was there... so beautiful.
Just realising this was performed on my birthday

i miss her as jenna
IM CRYING

All these comments saying theres no point in all this hating when there is literally just one comment saying Betsy is bad.
I don’t know why they had to lower this a semitone; I’ve heard Betsy sing in it F# major before
I think the key changed in previews or when Sara joined the cast.

I actually adore Betsy and think she is my favourite but i do not like the lowered key at all.
changedforgood91 Technically, this is the original key from Sara Bareilles’ version.
Blah blah blah, Betsy Betsy Betsy. Good riddance, I say! So glad Stephanie Torns finally got her time to shine. You really cannot put those ladies on the same level of talent.
Emily Gutierrez fuck you
Thats just rude
Seriously, did Betsy kicked you in the balls then burned your house down? You seemed to be hating her on a spiritual level???
Well, unless you perform 8 times a week in an extremely popular musical with people hating on you, you have no right to hate on anyone who has made it to broadway.
