Kakashi exists in an awkward spot on the Naruto power scale where it’s hard to find people he’s directly on par with. I think that might be why people don’t talk about him much outside of DMS
Kakashi is probably low Kage tier even in Part 1, the only people that seem stronger then him are Itachi, and the Sanin. Itachi straight up says that he doesn't think that Kisame can handle fighting Kakashi, I mean Kakashi sent a clone and stalemated Kisame's water dragon. Now it is clear that Kisame gets stronger through the story. But ya in part 1 there are very very few people who can go toe to toe with Kakashi and have a chance of winning.

Another great analysis. I agree with about Kakashi. For some reason he seems to get downplayed alot recently for some reason.
I've not really seen any Kakashi downplay but he definitely doesn't get brought up enough
