    Great learning but more questions now.
    Why aren't the bees attracted to the sticky traps and getting stuck?
    Is the green netting effective? The openings are very large. Is there not any metal mesh with openings large enough for bees but too small for hornets?
    Is there a synthetic form of the hornet pheromone to lure them into traps?
    Most satisfying point of the video - 9:27 - WHACK!!!!

    • @Cerinaya
      @Cerinaya 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on what the bait is. He mentioned something about them switching to a more protein based diet. Bees wouldn't be attracted to a meaty smell and as for a sweet smell ( I think) if you add something like vinegar to the bait the bees think its like fruit going bad/rotting and tend to avoid it.

    • @BeesBugsJapan
      @BeesBugsJapan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The netting is a deterrent; the bees need to come and go too.

    • @BeesBugsJapan

      The sticky stuff is just glue. The hornets attack it because it's over their phenomenon marking.

    • @RedMoonsEcho
      @RedMoonsEcho 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stephen Wheeler put you some of those solar powered electricity things and plug it up to the fence. The board won’t touch it ever again. Just make sure you didn’t leave no gaps for the pigs to crawl and dig under. We have wild hogs not boats but domestic hogs in KY, US that people let out. I enjoy watching your Asian hornet trapping and killing. I found a small nest and about 20 Asian hornets in Ky. I used one of your traps to catch the hornets then killed the nest which was small enough to put in a wide mouth half gallon jar. I then put alcohol in it and killed the queens and brood. Sent it off to get tested to make sure it was what I had and sure enough they were Asian hornets. I tried to warn my Facebook bee keeping groups. They told me I was lying trying to get attention ya da ya da etc had pictures to prove it an all and still said I was lying even went and looked them up online. They didn’t have no luck cause they were were my pictures. I had to take all posts down due to the hate and death threats I got. People are crazy man. I got documented proof and it’s all I need they weren’t European hornets is all I can say about it. People can deny it all they want to. But they here. There was a guy who had then in Oklahoma which killed his entire hive out. The European hornets don’t do that. They just don’t go in and slaughter all the bees. The scouts will come and take a few but not an entire hive. At least the European hornets around here don’t do it. The bald ones don’t either. I even kept me a few specimens of the Asian Hornets to compare. I have a wall of insects but people don’t believe that either they want pictures! You don’t give picture you ain’t nothing. I don’t give me pictures to nobody so they can go and brag about it. Even the local news paper who somehow mentioned if the Asian hornet was here and they said whoever reported it must of seen the local bald or European hornet.... I’m the one who reported to the nearest university in Ohio and sent the specimens off. I have books on every insect in the word and the internet to use to find out what I had was what I thought it was which was an Asian hornet. People can call me a liar all they want. They’ll find out when one of their families dies from coming in contact with a nest. And then those people will get credit for finding the hornet when I was the one who originally did and no one believed me calls apparently everyone and everything on the internet is fake to them.

    You could make a good sport of it and go after them with a couple of those electric fly swatters. That way you can listen to the POP! each time you smack one. Great fun, even with your standard flies. lol Connect a nine volt battery and it really makes it fun! The swatters don't last as long under that abuse, but they are potent.

    • @BeesBugsJapan
      @BeesBugsJapan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To suck in the hornets ? Stethoscope.. yeah have one of those, you still need to get up close to the hive with hornets trying to land on it.. then there’s the issue around using it with a hornet suit on. I don’t normally wear a hornet suit, unless I’m actually going to really fight Hornets, putting your head up close to the beehive with Hornets flying around there is no way in hell I do that without a hornet suit on.
      The reason I know why it goes like this is tried and failed :)
      And the small vacuum cleaner... 😂 a blower is a lot safer.
