HAM AND CHEDDAR SKILLET PIE (pg 21)
1/2c Bisquick baking mix
1/4c milk
1/4tsp salt
1/8tsp pepper
6 eggs
1 cup cut-up fully cooked ham
1/4c chopped green pepper
2 green onions, sliced
2Tbsp butter
1c (4oz) shredded cheddar cheese
Mix baking mix, milk, salt, pepper and eggs in bowl with fork (mixture will be lumpy); stir in ham, green pepper, and onions. Heat butter in a 10" skillet until melted. Gradually pour ham mixture into skillet. Cover and cook over medium-low heat until almost set, 10 to 12 minutes; sprinkle with cheese. Cover and cook until cheese is melted, about 3 to 5 minutes longer. 6 servings.
HERBED BISCUITS (pg 53)
2c Bisquick baking mix
2/3c milk
1/4c butter, melted
Herb-Cheese Coating (recipe below)
Heat oven to 400. Line round 8" pan with aluminum foil; grease. Mix baking mix and milk until soft dough forms; beat vigorously for 30 seconds. Turn onto well floured surface; turn to coat. Knead 10 times. Divide into 12 parts. Coat with melted butter; roll in coating. Arrange in pan. Bake until form and no longer doughy, 18 to 20 minutes. Makes 12 biscuits.
Herb-Cheese Coating: Mix 1/2c grated Parmesan cheese, 3/4tsp Italian Seasoning, and 1/2tsp paprika.
IMPOSSIBLE CHERRY PIE (pg 37)
1c milk
2Tbsp margarine or butter, softened
1/4tsp almond extract
2 eggs
1/2c Bisquick baking mix
1/4c sugar
1 can (21oz) cherry pie filling
Streusel (below)
Heat oven to 400. Grease pie plate, 10" by 1 1/2" (I used a 9.5" pie plate). Beat all ingredients except pie filling and streusel until smooth, 15 seconds in a blender on high or 1 minute with a hand beater. Pour into plate. Spoon pie filling evenly over top. Bake 25 minutes. Top with Streusel. Bake until Streusel is brown, about 10 minutes longer; cool.
Streusel: Cut 2Tbsp firm butter into 1/2c Bisquick, 1/2c packed brown sugar and 1/2tsp cinnamon until crumbly.

Just drives me crazy when these people leave so much in the mixing bowl. Who can afford NOT TO USE ALL THE INGREDIENTS 😡. My Mom was a stickler about that and she instilled that in me. Waste not, want not.
Hi! ‘These People’ here. 😉 Fear not - I scrape the bowls clean with a spatula. You just don’t see the whole process because of editing.
There’s a scraper in her hand in the very next frame! 😂
Anna, let me tell you what I love about your recipes: Besides dusting off my old cookbooks I’ve had since the early 50s thru the seventies and giving them a closer look- They’re easy, they’re fun, they’re relatable to anyone who doesn’t care how gourmet a meal needs to be - …I just want them to taste good. They make me feel like a teenager again; when I’m tired and don’t feel like being an adult. I feel like I’m in Home Ec. again. I’m so happy I found your channel and for you❤
Back in those days my mom sold Tupperware and these Bisquick recipes were always present at the Tupperware parties.
“Ok guys THIS 🤚 is my butter hand and this ✋ is my herb hand” **immediately puts opposite hand into butter** 😅😅 the most relatable situation ever
I made Bisquick pumpkin puff pancakes today from my early 70s Bisquick cookbook that I sent away for YEARS ago using the Betty Crocker points on their products. I now make my own baking mix to avoid all of the additions in the original.
Nothing wrong with using a shortcut like Bisquick. 😊 it's definitely a food from my childhood.
OMG! That was ME who brought up enjoying the melting butter and soothing tones of your voice. And I suggested a 2nd channel for 'melting butter talk'. 😅😂😂
Thanks for providing top tier butter meltage. ❤😂
My brother lost his wife when his children were still quite young and he wanted to make pies at Thanksgiving for them. He found the recipes for impossible pies in a pre-school community cookbook. For several years that is what he baked for himself and his children. It surely was easier than learning to make pie crusts. 😊
I remember making a multi-course microwave meal for my family when I was a child in the early 90s. That microwave was from 1984 and lasted another 20 years!
I have nostalgia for Bisquick! I moved to Denmark 19 years ago, so it has been a long time since I had anything Bisquick. I Googled whether I could get it here, but nope. Then, I got a bunch of links on how to make it myself. I just love your channel. Even if I can't use your exact ingredients, the nostalgia girl in me is addicted! Thank you for that!
Never watched your channel before but you are so cute! I’m really enjoying it. However you was showing the old recipes, your vintage bowls, Tupperware etc and talking about aluminum foil, I forget it was now lol, I felt like I was watching a very old reel lol I actually was about 1/2 way through the video when I paused to see when it came out lol you really have this thing down pat lol you are SO ADORABLE I will watch you often it’s very relaxing and sweet
THANK YOU!!
My boys were born in 82 and 84. I worked evenings as an RN and my husband had a chimney sweep business. One of our favorite, super easy dinners I would either leave for them or my husband would cook was Impossible Pies. We ate them once a week, easily.
So happy I got to celebrate Bisquick and my birthday with you. An impossible pie- on the stovetop??? Hmmmmm I have to try that. It was a very satisfying butter melt. Ooooh wow- I want to try that Cherry pie!!! Thanks for being so fabulous
Hey! I might be a little late to the party, but, Happy Birthday! 🎉🎂🥳
Eat lots of cake. It's good for you.
Thank you for inviting me to your Bisquick Birthday Bash!! The skillet pie was so delicious that I've already made it a second time since filming this video. Hope you have a fantastic birthday and thank you for bein' a friend!
Hi Anna❣️ My favorite Bisquick recipe was Impossible Cheeseburger pie! Thanks again for your videos. You are so cheerful and fun to watch! ❤
My grandmother used to make a cherry pie with boxed white cake mix and a can of cherries like you have. She mixed the dry cake mix with the fruit and baked it. Can't remember if she added anything else, but the boxed mix went in dry. That was the late 70s/early 80s.
My favorite has always been the bisquick sausage cheese balls. we make them every year around the holidays as something to munch on while we cook other things.
A classic!!!
I need to find this recipe
Those were sooooo good!
I had completely forgotten about those, now I'm craving them.
I have never had those.
We always had a box of Bisquick in the cupboard. Usually made pancakes for breakfast and biscuits for beef stew.
I once was dating a young lady who made "Impossible quiche" and I was very impressed!
Wow Thank you Anna. This was my first "grown-up" cookbook, way back when I was still in H.S. so great to see.
Old Bay Seasoning is what you're looking for to get the RL biscuits. Though ranch would be good too!
Bisquick banana bread is my go to. I think when deciding if a mix is "cost effective" we need to figure in time that is saved. My time (and saving additional dishes) is worth something.
Absolutely! Time definitely figures into the equation.
Hi Anna! My favorite Bisquick recipe was Impossible Cheeseburger Pie! Thank you for your videos! You are so cheerful and fun to watch!🧡
This was my fave too!!!
Same! It was the best!
It’s Sunday night, I just ate my favorite take out pizza, the bath is going with my favorite epsom salts and I just poured myself a glass of wine. Time to watch this video and relax before starting a new week tomorrow morning!
Another note: my brother is a chef for a very fancy steak house and I’ve been teasing him for months that I was going to pull out one of my old cookbooks and make him a 3 course meal from the “microwave entertaining” section. The day you do a microwave video is the day I plan my microwave entertainment dinner 😂
@@sarawright9576 Anna should make an entire microwave meal to celebrate 100,000 subscribers! 😂
@janelleclark4458 that is a fantastic idea!
Happy bday Jim! Anna - Bisquick is the #1 thing I bring to Scotland when I go to visit relatives. They absolutely love it!
Thank you for including me in this collaboration! I make a bee-line to the recipe book section of my local thrift stores looking for vintage good books, I love looking through them. I've done the bisquick impossible cherry pie before, but I like the addition of the streusel .
This was such a fun collab, and I love the book you selected for your video! ❤
"have you called your friends lately? Are they ok? Are you ok?" Oh, Anna, I freaking love you! Keep it up, girl!
PS- I watch Unboxing Betty, too!
Oh! PPS- happy birthday to the Bisquick guy
My mother was known for her biscuits and her recipe was the Bisquick recipe. I still make all kinds of things using Bisquick. I just this week made an “impossible” quiche that my family loved.
More Bisquick recipes!! I love this series!! :)
We still love bisquick
I love Bisquick!! The herbed biscuits will be made, sounds really good!!!!
That first recipe looked great!!! I wonder if it’d be a decent one to meal prep and then heat a slice for breakfast each morning as a quick grab and go! Happy birthday, Jim!
YES it's a great breakfast meal prep. I've made it a second time since recording this video! 😊
Hot dogs in a loaf sound like a great thing to make into chili-cheese dogs! No messing about with a hot dog bun, but they would lay flat to facilitate lots of chili and good layer of cheese on top. Oh the possibilities.
I also have Bisquick in my fridge. I found a Taco Bake in a magazine years ago that is one of our favorite. Grandkids love it too.
I need to try that Taco Bake.
You keep it in the fridge?
I have the Bisquick 60 years Family Favorites booklet from 1991. Happy Birthday, Jim!!
I make a Vidalia Onion Pie that has a Bisquick crust with sage which is good. I love the Impossible Cheeseburger Pie with sliced tomatoes on top. I have saved the boxes over the years for the recipes and do have several of their cookbooks. One is just Impossible Pies! That Cherry Pie looked like a chocolate pie--it came across as really dark. Thanks for not making biscuits in the microwave!
This was a fun collab! Happy to do it with you the ham and cheese skillet looks tasty , the biscuits look yummy but the cherry pie won my heart
The pie was delicious even if it was a little different! 😂 Always have fun collaborating with you!
The impossible cherry pie reminds me of a French cherry claufoutis. When you mentioned it was custard like I immediately thought of the French dessert. Ohh laa la 🎉
I thought the same thing! 😊
I'm glad you commented on the claufoutis. I looked up a recipe and it was made nearly the same as this Bisquick recipe.
Happy Birthday, Jim! 🥳🎁
Happy birthday Jim!🎉
Thank you 😊
I make my own Bisquick type mix usually, but both my mom and Grandma used store bought. Everyone gets to do their own thing, no problem. I just like making my own mixes when I can. And Happy Bday to Jim
I went over to his channel to say happy birthday but wanted to say it here too… Happy birthday Jim!
Love bisquick recipes. I have a bread pudding recipe from a small Bisquick book and it’s my favorite.
I little story to age myself- when I was a kid and we bought our first microwave oven from Mcgomery wards. They offered cooking classes for the microwave. I remember going with my mom to microwave cooking class and learning how to cook different things. Remember her cooking a roast beef and it was really tough. My mom and I laughed 🤣.
Montgomery Ward? Wow, that's a blast from the past! I had one about ten minutes away from where I lived growing up.
Just an FYI: As I recall, microwave recipes were very popular in the early 80s as the cost of microwave ovens came down and more families could afford them. Enjoyed the recipes. Bisquick was a staple item for us back then.
Aahhh! I still have a Bisquick cookbook from the 80s!!! ❤
Happy Belated Birthday Jim! 🎉
I have my mom’s old spiral bound Bisquick cookbook. I used to make impossible pie with coconut for dinner now and then for a treat. It’s so quick and so tasty. But then my youngest had food allergies so it’s been many years since I’ve made it. My mom used to make the classic chicken a la king with Bisquick.
Hi Anna- you are my favorite youtube content creator. I enjoy your videos and think it's cool when i have the same cookbook you use for that week. I also enjoy collecting vintage cookbooks.
Happy birthday Jim 🎉
Thank you 😊❤
Happy Birthday, Jim!
Thank you
You had me at Bisquick. I find having it in my pantry just makes my life easier. I cook a lot from scratch but sometimes you just want a few pancakes or drop dumplings in homemade soup. That was definitely a cobbler. Yum! Hello from Oregon, home of Tillamook cheese.
I’m not doing great, to be honest, with everything going on. That’s why I’m here. You’re so relaxing and fun and I get inspired by what you’re cooking! I will call my friends!!
Happy birthday, Jim! 🎁🎂
Thank you 😊
Happy Birthday, Jim.🥳
Thank you 😊
First time here. Love your site. I have used BISQUICK all my life. In my 80’s . Will be back.❤
So glad you found me! 😊
I have 3 Bisquick cookbooks and I love them! Best , Best volume 2, and Ultimate
So ironic. It's 35C here today. Lovely to hear of icy weather and comforting pies.
My mom used to make the Impossible Cheeseburger pie with Bisquick when I was a kid.
My husband's aunt made it I like it.
Thank you for the relaxing butter melt segment 😂❤
The cherry pie reminds me of a clafoutis.
Yes, I thought the same thing!
I have this book. Got it new years ago. I've made soooooo many recipes from it, especially the Impossible Pies. I have many of the cookbooks you showcase on your program.
Thanks so much for sharing ❤
You're welcome! 😊
Thanks for the shoutout! You know I love Bisquick! I have a video coming later this month where I dive back into it. In the meantime I'm going down an impossible pie rabbit hole.... oh and Happy Birthday Jim :)
Can't wait to see you Bisquick video! ❤
Happy birthday Jim! Your party food is fabulous!🎉💥🧁🔥
Happy Birthday Jim . I love Bisquick.🥰
Thank you 😊❤
The very first Impossible Pie I had was one my grandmother made which was the Impossible Coconut Pie, but I didn't know what it was until I was married and saw the recipe in a magazine. It's one of my favorites. 😊😊😊
Your glasses are pretty and flattering😊
Happy Birthday Jim.
I love Bisquick recipes.
Thank you
Thank you
Many blessings to you on your birthday, Jim!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 😊
That cherry pie 😍🍒 looks good. But the skillet pie sounds so delicious too. I'm always hungry after watching these. You never made a recipe I didn't wanna eat
Forgot to say Happy Birthday 🎁🎊🎂🎈🎉 Jim!
Thank you 😊❤
Happy Birthday to Jim! It's my birthday tomorrow 🙂
Happy Birthday!
Hope you have a wonderful birthday!
Hooray! And happy birthday, Jim! 🎉
Yum!!! That cherry pie custard cobbler looks CRAZY GOOD! And the cheesy egg pie, YUM!
Thank you, Anna!!! 😊✨
So glad you liked them! 😊
🎉 Happy Birthday, Jim! 🎉
Thank you 😊❤
I love the cookware you use ❤❤
Love your videos. I really enjoy vintage cookbooks. And an extra bonus is you said you live in Ohio! I lived there most of my life and miss it!
I think baking the “pie” and calling it something else would be the way to go. My MIL always called a refrigerator cheesecake a “pie”, drove me nuts.
I’ve been saying I wanted to get my Better Homes cookbook set down from attic. I finally did that. It is an 8 books set published in 1977, my mother gave them to me for Christmas 1984. I’ve only made a few recipes from a couple of them. I love dating the recipes and noting if we liked it.
I love that dating idea
Happy Birthday Jim !🎊 🎉🥳🎂🎈
Thank you 😊❤
I ❤️ Bisquick!
Thanks for sharing the other channels with us!
I love the Bisquick cheddar beer bread / muffins. You can add herbs to them, too. Love your videos, Anna.❤
I need to start using my Bisquick cookbook for more than dumpling!
Happy birthday Jim!
Thank you ❤😊
Many Happies Jim!🎂
Thank you!
As I've said before, in my opinion, I find that this particular featured product (avoiding brand names) in this video tastes funny to me; however, the recipes that you make with said product I almost always find the most appealing. I am trapped in a cul-de-sac of irony and contradiction. Also, I love your sweater!!!
As with everything they change the product ingredients. My mom always used the product for biscuits, dumpling, etc. The taste has changed and I also do not care for it.
I love Bisquick. My two favorite recipes are the mock cheese biscuits from red lobster and the coconut impossible pie. Also make the bacon quiche recipe often too that can be modified to any ingredients you like. It is very forgiving. Been using bisquick for many years and love it.
Happy Another Trip around the Sun, Jim! Every day above ground is a good day!
Love this collab and Bisquick! Honestly one of the most relatable videos and recipes. I don’t know how many times I’ve made my tried and true recipes and just have a random fail occurs. It is just part of the process of cooking/baking.
Happy birthday Jim
Tillamook cheese is my love language!
Happy birthday, Jim!! 🎁🎊🎈🥳🎂🎉
Thank you- and I agree!!! Tillamook cheese comes from my state
Happy birthday Jim! I believe I had that BIsquick recipe brochure you used today. As you found, it has some tasty recipes in there! Really enjoyed your perky, witty, cheerful self today. A lovely break from the news. Take care, hello from WeHo, California!
I must give the ham and cheddar skillet pie! My hubby loves ham and cheese omelettes so I think this would be a nice thing to try, it looks SOO good! Another Great video Anna...
We were a Jiffy mix house growing up because it was even cheaper than Bisquick. Mom used the Jiffy yellow cake mix and chocolate frosting boxes, and blueberry muffins too. I was thrilled to “discover” the Jiffy pie crust box in my 20s in the early ‘90s. In the stores around me, the last Jiffy product is the corn bread mix.
Bisquick is an underrated product. If you can't find it- Jiffy also makes a good all-purpose baking mix.
P.S. I have always and only made my banana bread using Bisquick. 👍🏻
I'm thinking of making the Bisquick banana muffins from this book!
@@cooking_the_books Sounds great, enjoy! I almost always add mini-chocolate chips to my banana bread batter and sometimes drained and chopped maraschino cherries. Sprinkle some sugar or jimmies on top before baking. Try different colors for different holidays.
Thank you!
On the herbed cheese biscuits...I would also try the parmesan cheese but swap out everything bagel mix for the herbs. Or just skip the cheese all together.
Great idea! 😋
A delight to watch. Thank you.
I love your show ... Honest ... Happy ... Go with the flow ... God Bless GRL 🎉❤
Girl, i was a freshman in 83😅😅
Happy Birthday, Jim! 🥳🎉 Such a fun video…I love how versatile Bisquick is.
That pumpkin bread looks intriguing
Awesome video! Great recipes! The suggestions you mention are what I would chose. We are kindred spirits! Happy Birthday, Jim!
I'm ready to see you try microwave recipes!
