Was looking for someone who use the silicone I bought to make a two part mold. Glad I don’t need to worry to much since I can always come back to this if I need to. Much appreciated
I'd like to start messing around with abstract making. Do you think it would be best to make a solid wet clay frame, or use hanger wires with aluminum foil to help shape then cover it with clay? Kind of new so im still figuring out the best methods to make a good mold to be used with plaster.
Jonathan Shallar came up with a good way to re use silicone. You won't be able to melt it, but by grinding it up you can use as a filler in your new silicone mold. th-cam.com/video/aZ_k895KzdI/w-d-xo.html So thought that was cool.
+wilmon abiera Yea, I believe should work ok. I've used the plaster of paris on the roll to build up a mother mold before. I made this one thick enough that it didn't need the additional support.
Stronger then plaster........5 lb - Dental Yellow Buff Stone, Type III Lab Stone Yellow - Model Stone for Dental Laboratory and Dental Office..... on amazon
It can be pretty fragile, but there are other products like Hydrostone plaster which are significantly harder. But you’d need to do some testing if trying to print onto it. If your just casting an object without the printing part, you could do something like Jesmonite as well. Good luck!
Why don't you just invert and suspend the cassette from the bottom with the gates and fill tube from the bottom, cast with top detents, remove detents, release and pour the top layer? It should take about a tenth the time you show here.
I am by no means perfect. Not at all! However, if you know anything about silicone, you would know that silicone cannot stick to silicone. So baby powder or starch or vaseline is not needed. Second, plaster is like bread. It will develop bubbles. A vacuum chamber is a must.

This is awesome thank you so much - have been looking for exactly this tutorial, yours is by far the best one I've found, really appreciate it!!
AWESOME!! Been looking for something like this for ages! Thank you so much! Xx
Hi I was wondering if using epoxy resin instead of plaster for the final cast would change the way you do the casting?
Can we use non drying clay? having a hard time finding air dry clay that's sulfer free. :/

Your link is dead, what type of silicone do you use to make the molds?
Hi, I want to make a mould to create very large angel wings. Can you please help with some advice? Many thanks
+Susan White Hi, what part are you stuck on? Mold-making can get pretty complicated with intricate structures, but definitely possible!
Hello how're you doing today?
What kind of clay base you used?
Looking forward to the next one m8.
+Peter Hackett Thanks! Already editing it!
Is it possible to reuse the silicone? Like melt it and reuse it? Or any other way?
Not that I'm aware of. Once it's cured, that's what you get. I re-use pieces of old molds for mixing surfaces, and other non-stick applications.

What type of clay did you use?
So late to this comment, apologies. Any non-drying and sulfur free clay works! If it has sulfur it’ll inhibit curing.
can you use a Plaster of Paris as mothermold to the silicone?

I use clay for base of mold but silicone didn't hard whole die. tell me which type clay for base
I used Plastilina clay. You have to make sure whatever clay you use is sulphur free, or it will stop the silicone from curing properly.
Gonna have trouble recording on plaster cassettes with the write protect holes already filled in. ;)
+Zarouszz Plaster cassette deck was my part two surprise ;)
How fragile is the plaster. I made a mold of my clay figure and wanted to sell copies of it.
