Glad to know your perspective. quick background and then some questions: I tried the DDx back to back with the Tiger 900 rally pro.. did some simple trails near Dehu rd. 1. This shoulder pain you mentioned, i too felt pain in shoulder blade, I wasn’t sure which of the 2 caused it. Is this a persistent issue or one off? 2. Do you have any background/ experience of riding off-road? If so what motorcycle would you (prior to DDX) use for off-road riding (just to get a frame of ref) 3. Possibly 2 will answer 3. You mentioned about the weight. I felt that the weight was relatively very well managed. It’s easier to push the DDX as against the Tiger. Since it was a limited time ride, from your 2500 km experience, where/ when do you think the weight shows up? 4. In the category 700-900cc, if not the DDX, which other bike would you recommend for on and off-road use ?
1- The shoulder pain was temporary - could’ve been just a one off trying to adjust to a new motorcycle. 2- I have done decent amount of offroading earlier on a variety of motorcycles ranging from the KTM SXF 350, to the royal enfields (modified), to a Multistrada, A desert Sled (Scrambler)…etc. 3- You are right the weight of the Desert X is very well balanced. The Triumph Tiger feels a bit top heavy in comparison to the Desert X. Having said that…its still a heavy bike if one has to do some serious offroading 4 - For both on and off-road (touring) I would strongly recommend the Desert X…I just completed 4500 kms on mine and I keep wanting to ride it more n more.
Desert X. I have not ridden a scrambler 1200xe…but I rode the same engine in the Speed Twin…for a short spin…I love the smooth refined feel…but for offroad I would prefer a more aggressive power delivery with ample low end torque.
Damn can’t stop thinking about DeX … Excellent and informative video … Keep ‘em coming … ❤
Nicely done and Honest review. Looking at your videos makes me want to get back on a bike again. :)
