    I wasn’t sure if I should release this video, because of the unfavorable light and sound circumstances. But, I thought it might be nice to release something outside of the studio.

      Please don't worry about it. I don't even notice and it really doesn't matter to me. I like the informality. For me it's more about the content and personal presentation.

      Agree with Simon and Ace. Don’t worry about it. I didn’t even think about it until you mentioned it. Content was more important.

    This causal dial in reveals how most of us make our coffere at home everyday. I'm sure quite a lot of us got the ECP after watching your youtube review. We then save the money to buy more nice coffee beans! Thanks again, Tom 🙏

    I appreciate this video from outside the studio. I have considered buying a less expensive machine as I currently make my coffee with an Aeropress. I have years of experience as a Barista and I was concerned the lower priced machines would be a letdown. I may consider buying one now.

    I picked up the ECP 3630 on sale at my local Wal Mart for $144 cad and then got all the accessories (bottomless portafilter, wdt tool, scale, better tamper, puck screen). Then I purchased the miicoffee DF54 and I find it to be an amazing grinder. I’ve been having fun buying beans from a local roaster and playing around with the settings to hit that 30 second shot sweet spot. Thank you Tom for your channel and all the great info you put out!

    Love this, I purchased a ECP3630 and a Baratza Encore ESP per your recommendations (received it like 2 days ago) which was a huge upgrade from my Neo Flex + Manual Hand Grinder - your content is the best in getting people into espresso without breaking the bank

    So timely. I just bought a ECP 3630 this past week at Target (on sale and with a $20 gift card) and have the same Barstza Virtuoso+ grinder. The 3630 is better built than i anticipated, after years of using a Rancillio Silvia. For a boiler machine it heats quickly.
    I've set the grinder at 2-3 with still fast running shots even with the pressurized basket. Waiting for a metal tamper and tegular portafilter this week.
    Terrific real world video.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Awesome! The 3630 is a little nicer than the 3420, for the metal sides. I saw it at Target too, and was tempted to buy it. 👍🏻 Enjoy! Just make sure to use freshly roasted beans, if you can.

    I bought the ECP 35.31 quite recently based on the recommendations and user videos (incl. the yours). It'll need practice. Do not expect perfect results instatntly. But 2 days (and 400 grams of coffee) later I managed close to good dosing and timing.
    Considering the price of the machine ($200 incl. the accessories as screens etc.) and good mill (K6 Kingrinder which can grind even too fine for $150) the results are very impressive for such a barrist beginner like me.
    If the coffee is your hobby and you're on the budget for the stuff it is the must have item. If you just want coffee clean, fast and with less possible effort than avoid it. It is not for you. Stay with moka pot or go to the café.

    I haven’t seen this boiler cool down technique anywhere and it’s not mentioned in the documentation. Is it necessary each time? I purge the water from the wand before steaming milk, and again after steaming with machine still set to steam, but I haven’t tried switching to running water thru the wand…

    Thank you. I bought this machine after watching some of your videos about it. My machine is ecp35.31 (white color). I am windering that if i could change the steam wand of this machine into a pro wand or not. Please advise. Thank you very much.

      @@TomsCoffeeCorner Yes, portafilter cleanup, and inspection of coffee puck.
      After extraction with my Flair, the puck is dry - all the air from the machine comes out last, not pushed through the puck earlier to create fake crema foam.
      This gives me good insight into how the puck performed and any channeling that happened.
      BYW, there is a particular type of channeling that I have not seen discussed on a channel, but is very relevant to puck preparation, the effectiveness of WDT and the amount of extraction achieved.
      It is easily discovered by inspection of a dry puck.

    Hi Tom
    Is it necessary to cool down the boiler if you’re not going to brew another shot?
    Thanks

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It’s always a good idea to cool down the boiler after steaming. But the main reason is that you want to replenish the water that was turned into steam while steaming. Since the pump is not on during steaming, the water level goes down. It’s important to replenish.

    Since the ECP seems to be a boiler machine, I wonder if you can gagguinofy this guy.
    If so, it would make for a crazy budget pressure-profiling monster! ^^

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You probably could, but I’m not sure about mounting a thermal probe. I’m not sure if there are threads for that on the boiler…anyone else know?

    I have the ecp and I bought a bottomless portafilter for it, but no matter what I do I can't get it to stop spraying. I use fresh beans, a wdt tool, screen and tamp it. I try to be consistent with about 15-16 grms coffee. Any suggestions?

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Freshly opened beans, or freshly roasted? What kind of grinder?

    • @chianti95
      @chianti95 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Mine does that too. Bring the cup up higher ( I’m using a scale) and it won’t splash as much. There’s probably a shower screen tweak, but elevating the cup or propping it up on something helps reduce the splatter.

    I've been dosing 16 grams since I got the machine, I've gotten confusing extractions, it seems like the tamping pressure is too sensitive these days. Not sure why this is.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If your dose is the same, I feel like bean roast freshness makes more difference than tamping force.
